    Milk. Your commie store.

Broken glass shrapnel. Now you're lazy manager tells me that I have more than 10 items for self checkout. You have ONE checkout lane OPEN. I have 14 total milks. I'm not going to be dictated to go into one line.

This store has always been a disappointment. I've used the pick up at many other Krogers and never had issues. This store picks the most defective and unusable produce, most likely to get rid of it since nobody would pick it in person. I typically don't go here for that reason but being the busy holiday season, I thoughtlessly did a pick up on nonperishables. How could they mess that up, right? I was wrong. Whoever packed the bag put all the heavy items into a bag torn all along the side. I grabbed it out of the car, unknowing the side was all opened. Out came my sauce and busted all over the garage floor. Now I have two more things to do today, replace the sauce and clean the garage floor. This place is awful. There are a million other Krogers, go to any one of them. Just skip this one.

Tho the store is kept looking clean and updated,(which is why I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 star) I am very disappointed in the condition of their produce. This store is very close and convenient for me, however I choose to drive miles out of my way as a result of the produce problem. I am compelled to write this as a result of my latest purchase, a Boar's Head prepared Salad. The salad had many browned pieces of lettuce and two very large lettuce cores. Needless to say, I would not recommend this store & I will not be purchasing their salad again. I have uploaded a picture of the lettuce cores.

I think that some people have been confusing the Kroger Fuel Center location on Rochester adjacent to Long Lake (18 Mile) with the Kroger store location that I am reviewing now. This Kroger is in it a bigger strip mall with no fuel center. Three Krogers in Troy but this is one I've been coming to as a kid for years. Definitely get a Kroger card if you shop here regularly. Groceries are fairly inexpensive and are even more so if you have a Kroger card. Plus there are discounts if used at a Kroger fuel center. I had a hankering for some garlic bread after making spaghetti. Love all fresh storemade garlic bread and Kroger is no exception. For $2.69, I devoured that garlic bread and thoroughly enjoyed it. Enough about my situation haha. This Kroger has most of the standard departments. Bakery, produce, meats, and all the standard aisles you see in most grocery stores. It's also convenient because it's in a big plaza with a AAA, UPS, Great Clips, a 24 hour CVS, and a few other businesses. And it's at a major intersection with Livernois...you got a Little Caesars, banks, restaurants, and a gas station in the immediate area. A convenient location!!!

However, every time my spouse and I go through cashier #2, we leave feeling upset and uncomfortable. The older gentleman at #2 line working there is clearly friendly with his acquaintances, but with us he has consistently been rude over the years. He handles our purchased items roughly, almost throwing them down, and the way he hands us the receipt is also disrespectful. His attitude toward us feels unnecessarily hostile, and I do not understand why he treats us this way. We enjoy shopping at H Mart, but these repeated experiences at this register have been very disappointing and stressful. I hope the store can look into this and address the situation so all customers can feel welcomed and respected.

It's pretty big, although it doesn't have a food court like the ones I'm used to in Chicago (we did notice signs telling us to go next door to Tomo, which we did). The store has so many fun things to look at and buy - we stocked up on our favorite Korean almonds, some toasted sesame oil, and of course, snacks. There's also lots of produce, meat, fish, tons of frozen items, some prepared food (though no triangle kimbap), household items (I especially liked all the food storage containers), skincare/beauty items, alcohol, etc. The list goes on! I could have spent over an hour browsing, but we had limited time. The strip mall setting has ample parking, and I will definitely be back the next time I'm in the area.

This visit, I let the loader know that something was missing or wrong and she told me,"Maybe you should do your own shopping". Yeah, k, if you don't like your job and being accurate, quit. She doesn't have a clue why I use pick up...it could be a myriad of reasons, including reasons she can readily see. It was rude and unnecessary. I ended up calling out a store manager since there was about $25 worth of mistakes with my order (not typical). I let her know that her PU personnel was unprofessional, while she was reviewing my order. I stopped going to this location because the other PU employees were acting aggressive, too. Management did give me a $25 gc.

Mistakes happen--but what impressed me was how Paula (customer svc) Meijer handled the situation. Thank you, Meijer, for turning what could have been a frustrating situation into a reminder of why I choose to shop with you.

Training and communication were inconsistent from the very beginning. On my first night, I was trained by an employee who was terminated by my second night. As a new hire, I assumed the way I was trained was correct, especially since no member of leadership ever corrected my work or provided feedback afterward. I worked overnight stocking and continued doing the job the way I was trained for nearly three months. During that time, I was never written up, never tardy, and never received any form of disciplinary action or coaching. No manager ever pulled me aside to discuss expectations or performance concerns. The overnight work environment itself also lacked professionalism. Some employees who remained employed regularly displayed behavior that was immature and unprofessional, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable at times and reflected a lack of accountability from leadership. Almost three months in, I started hearing rumors from coworkers that the overnight manager, Calvin, was not satisfied with my performance. Because I knew him outside of work, I chose to speak with him directly and asked how I was doing. He told me I was doing fine and had nothing to worry about. Based on that conversation, I trusted his word and decided not to go to the People's Office (HR), even though I had considered it due to the mixed messages. A day or two later, shortly after midnight, I received a text message from Calvin stating that I was being let go and that it "wasn't personal, just business." This was surprising and discouraging, especially after being told directly that my performance was fine. Being terminated via text message, without prior warning, documentation, or an opportunity to improve, felt unprofessional. With better leadership, this situation could have been avoided. Clear expectations, proper training, honest feedback, and a performance improvement plan would have helped set employees up for success. Unfortunately, the overnight shift lacked structure, transparency, and strong leadership, which made this a negative experience overall.
