This store is an amazing find! I am always looking for fresh items and new places. This satisfied both. This place carries some of the most exotic items that you won't find in a regular store or sometimes in your region. I saw cocao pods! This was so wild to me because I've always seen these mainly in the south. The store has some of the most fresh finds, liquors and wines, produce....and so on! Nino Salvaggio has been on my list for several months now ever since I visited in April 2025. I finally got to go when I was in town again for the Christmas holiday and I loved the cozy farmers market/gourmet grocery store vibes. The produce was beautiful and plush. These mushrooms were the most gorgeous large, clean mushrooms. I have seen in a long time. Every time I'm in the area I stop into Nino Salvaggio and fill my cart up, cursing that the closest one to my house is an hour away. Nino, if you're reading this, send a little love via a location to the south and/or west. Preferably Ann Arbor (but I'd take anything that doesn't require me getting onto 275 or 75). This market is SO good, y'all. The produce alone? My goodness. That section alone is the size of many markets around here. In that expansive space they carry many delicious tropical fruits that you don't see everywhere else. I was there in the late winter, when a lot of fruit is ripening in the southern hemisphere, and they carried so many varieties (even a few that I had to look up online cos I was unfamiliar with them). Banana flowers, a variety of small melons, dragon fruit, passion fruit, and even cocoa pods. I bought them all to try. I also picked up more than a few prepared foods like pastas, meatballs, pierogi, mac and cheese, pulled pork, etc. Just heat and serve. Perfect for busy families who can't always make a meal themselves but don't want to do takeout every night. Oh, and their bakery selection is ridiculous. So many cakes, cookies, etc. The prices are relatively reasonable, especially for the prepared foods, but imported fruits and things will come with a heftier price tag given the imports. I received a box pastries. It was quite disappointing . The croissant pistachio filled was hard and stale. (Purchased on Sunday afternoon). I'm not sure how long this was out for. Bakery should've thrown this out. I used to be a huge fan of Nino's pastries/ but it' had been become a disappointment. Nino's should consider changing their recipes. Cakes are a hit miss too! If you want to shop for great produce, meats, cheeses, and other grocery items while feeling incredibly fancy but paying average prices, this is your place! We live fairly close to this grocery store and we're very glad that we do. This place this the best! Every time we've been here there's been tons of produce, meat and cheese to choose from for our different gatherings or just to have for our daily meals. There are a lot of people that work here, so if you have any questions while you're shopping, there are plenty of options to ask that are keeping the shelves and bins fully stocked. Our favorite has to be the meat counter. By far, the biggest meat counter we've ever seen. There are so many different types of seafood (fish, shrimp, crab, lobster), beef (steak, ground beef, etc.), chicken (breasts, trimmed breasts, ground chicken), pork and other types of meat that we haven't tried yet. Whether it's a Sunday or a Wednesday evening, it's all stocked and ready to be packaged. The workers in particular behind the counter are very helpful and friendly, that's how we got involved in buying the pre-trimmed chicken which in turn, saves us a lot of time when we're cooking. Produce? Much of the same great experience. Tons of different options to choose from and the quality of the produce is ripe and ready to eat. Their aisles are tidy too, unlike other stores where there's dropped tomatoes or grapes on the floor. The staff really takes into account the tidiness of their store. We've made some of our best dishes with Nino's produce and meat selections. We have now made it a routine to come to Nino's once a week to get the best of the best for our weekly dishes! read more

This was my first time at this location and wow, it was like Disneyland. I was on the hunt for a very specific product, Topor's "Half Sour" pickles, and I had called beforehand to see if they had them in stock; I'm glad I did, because they told me it was in the dairy section, and I probably never would have found it otherwise. When you walk in, you're in the produce section, and I think they have a glass ceiling, because it's sunny today and it was beautiful in there. I saw they had some canned Blake's products too, like peaches, but a little out of my price range ($8.69 each). I did end up buying half of a cut-up watermelon for myself, because finding watermelon in the winter is very unusual; it was $1.10 per pound so it cost me about $5, but oh well. If you keep walking to the back, then there are sliding doors and and area for bread and meat - they also had a fresh pastry counter which looked delicious. Keep on walking, more sliding doors, and you are then in the snacks/canned goods/dairy section. Checkout took all of two minutes and they have plastic butcher-esque hangings between you and the cashier. I will have to come back not on a weekend, because it was super packed today (most likely because it's a Sunday AND it's Super Bowl Sunday), but 99.9% of the customers were wearing masks, and correctly, except for one old man in the dairy section who had his mask pulled UNDERNEATH his chin, exposing his whole face (yes, I avoided him). I also read online that if you have a Blue Cross card, you can show it on Wednesdays and get 5% off your order - pretty nice if you have a big grocery order going on (ie, if you're spending $100, you'd get $5 off). Overall, VERY impressed with this Nino's. Although it's in Troy, it's about 15-minutes from me (aka not as close as Fresh Thyme), but I will be back at some point. read more

I have been in here a handful of times over the years. I went by tonight to try to pick up two items but I was running low on. Unsweetened almond milk, a case of Lacroix Keylime water and some Luna bars. They didn't have the unsweetened almond milk that I was looking for, only the cashew and coconut, which I did not want. They had a lime Lacroix water, but not the Keylime. They only have kind bars, but no Luna bars. They definitely have an assortment of different kinds of food items here. But zero for three of my items here. What a bummer. I have to go to Big box store instead to get my three items. Maybe next time they will carry more brands of food items I want next time. They did announce that they are adhering to their new winter hours. Because by 8 PM until April or around Easter. read more

Be prepared to pay! Food of great quality and selection, but I was disappointed there were hardly any frozen vegetables or bottles of wine under $10. Vince & Joes is the same quality and less expensive. I was pleased with the ready-to-eat food I bought from there and a bunch of roses for $12.99 on Valentines Day! Wow! Hadn't been back to this store since I was a child! My mom used to take me and my sisters here a lot. I remember my mom buying corn here all the time and always stopping in the bakery for Cappuccino muffins, which they don't sell anymore. Looking at the bagel area reminded me of when my mom used to treat us on occasion to our favorite flavors. I always loved everything bagels! Walking in here again with my parents and sister on a Saturday before noon, it wasn't all that busy. The store is a little dark, but it's got a very intimate vibe about it, for some reason. Stuff here is pricey! I wouldn't do all my shopping here. But my mom recalls that their produce was always very good. She also used to buy seafood here. We were looking for Apple cider so we weren't going to buy much. We browsed and found a ton of GT's kombucha! Various flavors that Kroger doesn't carry! Love it! The market was huge as expected. I was surprised how busy it was. I couldn't get many pictures and every time I tried I got odd stares. They have a very nice Fresh Seafood area. It was nicely laid out and offered a large amount of different fishes, shrimp, scallops etc. The Fresh meat section was also large. Pricing is higher than some places but I expected that. Their bakery section was decent. It didn't blow me away but they did have a decent selection. If you are looking for fresh veggies or fruit again the selection is vast. They also have isles with everyday grocery items, drinks, ice cream. Nothing I couldn't find where though. Let me start by saying: if you have a gathering or party and need some tasty dishes to serve, Nino's will save the day. I'm always astounded by the selection of fresh party trays, dips, desserts, delicacies, and wine selection. This is THE premiere snack solution for your next event. Second, WOW; I love coming here when I don't know what I want to make for dinner for the week. There's so many fresh options that inspire incredible dishes. I also love cheating on a busy week night and getting a fresh pasta dish and pre-made salad to have dinner ready in 15 minutes. The international food selection is the hidden gem of this location: I go to Nino's when I can't find it anywhere else. From middle eastern to Asian to Mexican specialties, it will be here. The bakery has an impressive selection of breads. It makes me challah (sorry for the pun). Lastly, the meat market and cheese section is unmatched. I'll be honest that I haven't compared the quality of the meat (in terms of organic, grass fed, etc) to my staples like Whole Foods. However, the selection is like nothing I've seen before. I came here for the first time in several years last month to pick up some snacks while passing through town. What was supposed to be a quick 20 min trip turned into an over hour visit. They had a huge range of fresh vegetables to select from with reasonable prices. The meat/seafood and bakery sections were also fun to browse through. I'll give them 5 stars because I love everything else about the store. My "beef" is with the prime ribeyes from Creekstone, which are currently $32 per pound. A prime ribeye should have beautiful marbling in the eye and around the cap. Nino's prime ribeyes (they call them delmonicos for some reason) however, are quite lean. The choice ribeyes actually look quite a bit better. It's been this way for years and I find it quite puzzling. Does someone at Nino's think the mark of a great steak is that it has no fat? Were these steaks truly graded as USDA Prime (I see no label)? I would love to get my steak at Nino but but stopped many years ago due to this issue. Please correct this issue Nino! The best produce, meats, seafood & specialty items in Michigan can be found at Nino Salvaggio. We shop at the Bloomfield Hills location and have been customers since this location opened. I'm here 3 times per week for the produce, which is the freshest I've found, as they know how to keep these perishable items fresh. I enjoy chatting with the employees in the deli, meat, seafood and bakery department because they are all talented, knowledgeable and very friendly. Management is friendly & welcoming and the cashiers are friendly & nice. I shop here because it's simply the best & my hubby the foodie won't settle for anything else. read more

I talked to the new manager on the way out, so I'm hopeful things will change here. He seemed like a good guy. I shop here once a week and it has gotten so bad. I normally go about my business, but the meat counter wouldn't wait on me and when they finally did, it was prefaced with "it's one minute until we close, so I'm not sure I'll be able to wait on you!" This is after I was standing there for about 3-5 minutes waiting to be waited on, but Ignored.I just said forget it and walked away...she tried to get me to come back, but this place is just awful. I understand you are closing soon on Memorial Day (hours not updated on Google), but if you get to this location within 45 minutes of their closing time, everything is packed up and they make it very uncomfortable to shop. If you're going to act this way to your customers, shut the door 15 minutes early...yikes. The cashier yelling credit and debit only was a treat too. To end on a positive note, the ladies that work at the prepared food counters are the complete opposite - just lovely. They go above and beyond in getting me fajita sauce and anything else and are super nice to my kids. I'll let the new manager try to change the culture here, but in the meantime, might try to find a local butcher and will also give Fresh Thyme and/or Vince & Joe's a shot. read more

(Perfect place for those of us that demand more than Sargentos on our Charcuterie Boards) We bought grapes that were the biggest I'd ever seen. They also serve hot food and pizza. I've been grocery shopping here for years. Recently I have noticed a decline in the freshness of the deli meats. I have not posted about my previous spoiled meat purchases here, but I can't let this go any further. I purchased a 1/2 pound of Boar's Head Honey Smoked Turkey, apparently spoiled. I didn't realize it until it was too late. I ate some and felt sick. The meat had terrible foul spoiled smell shortly after I bought it. I kept it refrigerated. This is unacceptable in Troy. Nino's charges so much for their groceries, at a minimum they shouldn't be spoiled, this is an insult to humanity, and shouldn't happen... well at least in my opinion. I will not be shopping here again, unless I need to voluntarily take time off work due to being sick. Eat their deli meat at your own expense... as well your company's expense, if you take a sick day. No idea how this place passes health inspection. read more

I'm a frequent shopper at Nino Salvaggio. The employees are very friendly and knowledgeable. Store is always clean and they have a huge selection of international foods and local Michigan made products. My favorite place to buy fresh lychees and exotic fruit. I frequently come here once or twice a week for get produce and fruits because the quality is so much fresher than Kroger or Meijer. A little pricier but not quite as expensive as Plum Market or Whole Foods. A huge wine selection, Cafe/Coffee bar, floral department, bakery, prepared food section, and lots of gluten-free products. Stop in here for some premade trays or appetizers to bring with you to a party if you're running short on time. There are also a lot of gift baskets if you're looking for a hostess gift. *** THIS REVIEW IS STRICTLY FOR THE BAKERY *** I love Ninos and would give shopping here a 5/5 just not the bakery :( I recently celebrated my 22nd birthday and decided to get a cake that's different than my yearly tradition of carrot cake. I was at a friends house and tried a chocolate mousse cake that had a bucket (made of chocolate) filled with choc covered strawberries and the inside is 90% choc mousse with a thin layer of cake and ganache. It was delish! I told my mom I wanted that cake but with vanilla cake in place of choc cake and when she called them they said it could be done! Yayyy! Fast forward to dec 10 when it's time to pick up they said it was choc cake and didn't have our number to call us to let us know they didn't do it. Mind you, they take your number when you place the order!! The mousse was grainy and the strawberries weren't fresh and high quality like their produce they carry and they left such a bad mouthfeel with the waxy coating. Overall, it was very unprofessional, the quality was bad- chocolate on the strawberries were sooo waxy and the mousse had a grainy texture. The manager tried to rectify the situation by giving my mom $5 off but it still wasn't worth it in my opinion :( thanks for messing up my bday cake Ninos! read more

Everything inside the marketplace is kept clean and you will always have access to plenty of whatever you need to keep your kitchen and pantry fully stocked.
