Every time I'm in the area I stop into Nino Salvaggio and fill my cart up, cursing that the closest one to my house is an hour away. Nino, if you're reading this, send a little love via a location to the south and/or west. Preferably Ann Arbor (but I'd take anything that doesn't require me getting onto 275 or 75). This market is SO good, y'all. The produce alone? My goodness. That section alone is the size of many markets around here. In that expansive space they carry many delicious tropical fruits that you don't see everywhere else. I was there in the late winter, when a lot of fruit is ripening in the southern hemisphere, and they carried so many varieties (even a few that I had to look up online cos I was unfamiliar with them). Banana flowers, a variety of small melons, dragon fruit, passion fruit, and even cocoa pods. I bought them all to try. I also picked up more than a few prepared foods like pastas, meatballs, pierogi, mac and cheese, pulled pork, etc. Just heat and serve. Perfect for busy families who can't always make a meal themselves but don't want to do takeout every night. Oh, and their bakery selection is ridiculous. So many cakes, cookies, etc. The prices are relatively reasonable, especially for the prepared foods, but imported fruits and things will come with a heftier price tag given the imports. If you're a food lover, you gotta get here.

    Nino's Meat Ravioli?

Bought meat ravioli after cooking dinner notice it was Butternut Squash. Sauce ruined as well as our dinner. Check the receipt to ensure it said meat. Buyer beware!

    Stale hard crossiant

I received a box pastries. It was quite disappointing . The croissant pistachio filled was hard and stale. (Purchased on Sunday afternoon). I'm not sure how long this was out for. Bakery should've thrown this out. I used to be a huge fan of Nino's pastries/ but it' had been become a disappointment. Nino's should consider changing their recipes. Cakes are a hit miss too! There are better bakeries in the area.

If you want to shop for great produce, meats, cheeses, and other grocery items while feeling incredibly fancy but paying average prices, this is your place! We live fairly close to this grocery store and we're very glad that we do. This place this the best! Every time we've been here there's been tons of produce, meat and cheese to choose from for our different gatherings or just to have for our daily meals. There are a lot of people that work here, so if you have any questions while you're shopping, there are plenty of options to ask that are keeping the shelves and bins fully stocked. Our favorite has to be the meat counter. By far, the biggest meat counter we've ever seen. There are so many different types of seafood (fish, shrimp, crab, lobster), beef (steak, ground beef, etc.), chicken (breasts, trimmed breasts, ground chicken), pork and other types of meat that we haven't tried yet. Whether it's a Sunday or a Wednesday evening, it's all stocked and ready to be packaged. The workers in particular behind the counter are very helpful and friendly, that's how we got involved in buying the pre-trimmed chicken which in turn, saves us a lot of time when we're cooking. Produce? Much of the same great experience. Tons of different options to choose from and the quality of the produce is ripe and ready to eat. Their aisles are tidy too, unlike other stores where there's dropped tomatoes or grapes on the floor. The staff really takes into account the tidiness of their store. We've made some of our best dishes with Nino's produce and meat selections. We have now made it a routine to come to Nino's once a week to get the best of the best for our weekly dishes!

Only $3.99, I love Topors so I was expecting to pay a lot more.

This was my first time at this location and wow, it was like Disneyland. I was on the hunt for a very specific product, Topor's "Half Sour" pickles, and I had called beforehand to see if they had them in stock; I'm glad I did, because they told me it was in the dairy section, and I probably never would have found it otherwise. When you walk in, you're in the produce section, and I think they have a glass ceiling, because it's sunny today and it was beautiful in there. I saw they had some canned Blake's products too, like peaches, but a little out of my price range ($8.69 each). I did end up buying half of a cut-up watermelon for myself, because finding watermelon in the winter is very unusual; it was $1.10 per pound so it cost me about $5, but oh well. If you keep walking to the back, then there are sliding doors and and area for bread and meat - they also had a fresh pastry counter which looked delicious. Keep on walking, more sliding doors, and you are then in the snacks/canned goods/dairy section. Checkout took all of two minutes and they have plastic butcher-esque hangings between you and the cashier. I will have to come back not on a weekend, because it was super packed today (most likely because it's a Sunday AND it's Super Bowl Sunday), but 99.9% of the customers were wearing masks, and correctly, except for one old man in the dairy section who had his mask pulled UNDERNEATH his chin, exposing his whole face (yes, I avoided him). I also read online that if you have a Blue Cross card, you can show it on Wednesdays and get 5% off your order - pretty nice if you have a big grocery order going on (ie, if you're spending $100, you'd get $5 off). Overall, VERY impressed with this Nino's. Although it's in Troy, it's about 15-minutes from me (aka not as close as Fresh Thyme), but I will be back at some point.

I have been in here a handful of times over the years. I went by tonight to try to pick up two items but I was running low on. Unsweetened almond milk, a case of Lacroix Keylime water and some Luna bars. They didn't have the unsweetened almond milk that I was looking for, only the cashew and coconut, which I did not want. They had a lime Lacroix water, but not the Keylime. They only have kind bars, but no Luna bars. They definitely have an assortment of different kinds of food items here. But zero for three of my items here. What a bummer. I have to go to Big box store instead to get my three items. Maybe next time they will carry more brands of food items I want next time. They did announce that they are adhering to their new winter hours. Because by 8 PM until April or around Easter.

I usually go to the Dream Market on 15 Mile to pick up fresh Samoon and Khubz, but this time I…read moredecided to go a little further north to this location. Let me say that this 18 Mile store is the superior store. The interior is much larger, which is able to easily accommodate the large number of patrons without feeling way too crowded like the other store. This location also has a bakery area, large prepared foods counter, another area specifically for mezze and various salads/dips, and two huge aisles/areas filled with bulk spices, snacks, and candies. I thought the 15 Mile location had everything and was the best Middle Eastern/Iraqi market in Metro Detroit, but this place takes it to another level. Both locations always seem to have huge lines for fresh bread. Here, the samoon is 4/$1 for some of the freshest and puffiest bread you can find. The samoon are a little smaller than other places and don't have as much of a fire charred flavor, but they are fluffy, easily pull apart to reveal the pocket in the middle, and are the cheapest by far. The other location used to brush the samoon with olive oil and sesame seeds, but they didn't do it here. I'm not sure if it's just here or both places stopped. At any rate, there's a reason there is always a huge line for bread. In addition to samoon, the bakery area has sweet breads and khubz. We picked up some generically labelled "Sweet Pies" that were 4/$5.99 on a whim and wow, after trying it, I was super impressed. It's spiral layered dough that's soaked in sweet orange blossom water and then covered with pistachios and earthy spices, perhaps cardamom and cinnamon? The sugary mixture caramelizes on the bottom of the pastry and when baked, it creates a fantastic fried caramelized texture around the edges. I wish I knew the actual name of this sweet; I tried searching online but I couldn't find anything resembling it! From the prepared foods area, we picked up a giant 12 inch diameter Meat Pie (Aroog) for only $1. It turned out be be pretty mild in flavor and wasn't the most appealing to eat, but it was good to try. The mezze counter is so busy they have a number system so you know when you can order. We ended up only getting tabbouleh ($5.99/lb) but everything looked delicious. The tabbouleh here is the real deal, mixed with tons of parsley, onions, tomatoes, and bulgur. The amount of oil and lemon juice added is perfect; this tabbouleh honestly is cheaper and better than what you can get at many restaurants. It tasted very fresh - I saw a ton of people getting this, so I can imagine they constantly make more and refresh the offering. I didn't get the garlic or hummus this time - I've gotten them from the other store in the past and I have to say that they are kind of mediocre. The garlic is overly lemony and the hummus tastes like grocery store hummus. Perhaps this location is better; I'll have to try next time. At the end of our visit, we hit up the bulk section where we found a variety of things to try. Grilled Cashews ($6.77/lb) - These are extra crunchy cashews, skin on, salted, with a slight char taste. They have an aromatic, toasted flavor that is a step above your ordinary conventional roasted cashew. Unique and very yummy. Various Kri Kri/Japanese Peanuts ($3.99/lb) - Yum! These are peanuts covered with hard fried dough, then sprinkled with various flavors. Some are slightly sweet, some are very spicy. The coating has a very hard crunch - it feels like you could chip your teeth if you're not careful. I'm usually hesitant on buying bulk goods since they can get stale, but this store has such high turnover that everything seems to be super fresh. I'm used to buying the Kasugai brand roasted nuts assortment, which is way more expensive for the weight, so I thought this was a great deal. Funny thing is that apparently the Japanese Peanuts were invented in Mexico and in Japan, they call these Mexican Peanuts. Ulker Toffee Mastic Candy ($5.99/lb) - Woah, first time we tried mastic candy. It's like a hard taffy with a sweet, pine tar-like taste. After eating one, I determined this candy is not for me! Must be an acquired taste! We got so much food to try and we didn't even hit any of the aisles in the middle for normal groceries or frozen foods. There's just so much to look at in this store! This will be my go-to store from now on whenever I'm in Sterling Heights.

They are super patient and can make the food right on the spot. Food/price: The food is pretty good for the quantity and quality. Last time I checked the kabob is 1.50 each for 10 of them (the deal was a little confusing for me so I did not look into it). I would have to say that you NEED to buy the hummus, garlic, and cucumber dip for the bread or you will miss out! Audience: The audience is good for families and they have an amazing catering option. It wasn't on Yelp so I quickly added it. I was hesitant to go in, as I wasn't sure what it had to offer. But my kids noted the pita bread sign in the window and we're set to get some, so I figured I'd go in and see they actually made fresh pita on site. Sure enough they did! 5/$1 like they place I frequent near my house. The gentleman was pulling the hot pita bread out as I stood there and bagged up my pieces. They also had fresh made meat, spinach and cheese pies for only $1 each. What a deal! I grabbed 2 spinach and 2 meat to enjoy later at home. I walked over to the produce section and it was nicely organized. The fruits and veggies looked good and fairly priced from what I quickly looked at. I was happy to see my tiny lemons were plentiful and even a better deal then what I usually pay. They were 8/$1, my local place sells them 7/$1. The store was very large and similar to other Mediterranean markets. It was clean and organized, from the walk through I did that day. The 4 fresh made pies were delicious- I'd definitely buy them again! I had a bag full of goodies for only $5.60 and I was a happy customer. I'd definitely return if I ever end up near it again.
