No frozen potatoes in the store today. Not acceptable!
Mari C.

I went to this Kroger today for a few items, not major grocery shopping. I was shocked at the condition of the store. The place looked ransacked. The shelves were empty. No bacon, no frozen potatoes, no pop tarts, no vinegar, no pumpkin spice cheerios, and no sausage. What is going on? To add to the lack of products in the store, my self checkout experience was also frustrating. The self scanners are garbage. Mine would not recognize my shopping bags and it took FOREVER for the kroger employee to come reset it. Then the scanner kept messing up with every item I would scan and put in the bag. I had 20 items to scan and my checkout process took forever. This kroger needs to hire more employees and get the shelves stocked. And do something about the self scanners. They are junk.

Slow and crappy management. Expect to spend 30 mins in line. Management only gives excuses not solutions.

Brought out of state family here. They've changed the inside a bit and it for the better. The made…read morethe Mexican bread area much better and they added roasted whole chicken and they're amazing. They have a whole onion and spicy poblano peppered inside the chicken cavity. They taste awesome and def worth the price and it lasted us about a week. They have added a few new items and added a couple of cold cases around the store. Staff is always friendly and checking out is always quick no matter now busy they get. Def recommend stopping by. Locally owned nd awesome foods.

Moving from Miami to rural Ohio has been a real shock to my palate, especially considering my…read moreCuban/Spanish heritage. The variety of restaurants or ethnic food available for purchase at grocery stores is laughably low. So i heard about George's International Market and checked out their website. I was really excited to try it because it gave the impression of being "International" and i love a wide variety of foods. I decided due to this to make the long drive into Fort Wayne to check this place out. My first impression of this place was confusion. Just inside the store you find a statue of a lion holding a shield, a statue of Elvis, and a third statute of Marilyn Monroe in her famous skirt scene. I am unsure what this has to do with a supermarket. I then walked into the actual market and was surprised at how much smaller it looks than in the website. I also discovered as I began exploring that its "international" designation is a bit overstated. It does have food from one or two European countries but its mostly hispanic and really mostly Mexican. Was i a bit disappointed? Yes. That said, i did find a lot of food that my culture also loves in here that overlaps. Firstly, i found actual green plantains! Usually in the supermarkets near my home they sell plantains but they are rarely green. To be able to fry some up and have tostones! Yes!!!!! I also found other products my family and I would love including plantain chips, malta, yuca, tamales, Jamaican patties, and croquettas. The croquettas were of the frozen variety and sadly only in chicken, i prefer ham. I was also very happy when I found Pineapple Nectar for my mom. She loves the stuff and hasn't had any since we moved! So i did end up buying quite a bit when I came here and i will likely come back again. I hope they continue to expand what they have available for sale here, though.

My history with Meijer goes back well over 30 years, having grown up in Michigan. Before Walmart…read morehad 24 hour stores, there was Meijer, who opened 24 hours long before Walmart ever started. And then I worked for Create-A-Card (if you remember them), which had personalized card printing in, literally, every single Meijer location. At the time I worked for Create-A-Card there were less than 50 stores. Meijer and I go a LONG way back. So as far as big-box, full-retail stores go, it's always my go-to. Groceries? Check Sweat pants? Check Aquarium filters? Check Windshield solvent? Check Sharpies? Check ..and the list goes on. The staff at Meijer is usually very helpful (if a bit hard to find), and there's never a team member sitting around doing nothing. People who work at Meijer usually have a great work ethic and I don't know that I've ever felt like I was bothering anyone when I would ask them where I could find self-sealing stem bolts. Likewise the store is usually pretty clean. Not like Walmart, where it usually feels like you're walking into a friend's house, but that friend has 4 or 6 kids under the age of 7 and none of them cleans up after themselves or puts their toys away. They often tend to keep the produce area pretty tidy, which is is a challenge because produce needs to be neat and tidy. Who wants to buy ugly produce? There are numerous big-box general merchandise stores, and when I need something -- anything -- Meijer is where I'm headed.

I normally go to the Meijer in Lima, OH but found myself in Fort Wayne one day and needed to get…read moregroceries done before I go home to Van Wert. I decided to do my shopping here. This is a great Meijer. There is a Starbucks inside as well as a Auntie Annes, which my Lima store does not have. They have a large garden area and sell items I certainly do not see in my Lima store including items like veal and bison. The store is large and well stocked. It is also easy to find the items you need. I think this is a great Meijer and I do not understand the negative reviews.
