    Walmart Supercenter

Having just recently been near Walmart's headquarters and seeing their *worst* Walmart store in…read morethat area--and that was better than the best Walmart store I've seen elsewhere--I'd be inclined to judge them all poorly. I'd rather have Target, but Walmart is willing to suck up a town's business, and at some point, you have to just accept them or drive quite a distance. Imagine the people in Hagerstown or Cambridge City, who don't have a lot. The store is big but small, having grocery and dry goods sides, but not being a Super Center. It's about the same size as the store in Alma, AR I saw recently, that served a town of almost 5000 people. The Super Center in Richmond, IN is one of the smallest I've seen. The layout isn't bad and the employees to whom I talked were friendly. Everyone seemed to be working at something. Way back when, I had been in this store to help friends with some church thingee where they needed to pick up a few things, and really the store seemed as accessible as any other Walmart I'd entered at the time. I could go on about Walmart's corporate policies but seriously, does that take away from shopping? They have groceries you need. They're not high end groceries but they fill a need. They have most of the national brands, so you can get what you want. Do you have to watch the prices? Of course! Every store wants (more of) your money. Kroger always seems expensive, but then, I shopped at Meijer and thought that Kroger wasn't so bad. It's all about buying what you need.

My hatred for this store grows. I went there yesterday to get a carseat to go in my husband's car…read more Both of the ones that fit what I wanted/needed were out of stock in the neutral colors, leaving one bright pink model of each in boxes that looked like they'd been used in a demolition derby. Yet another item that the Connersville Hellmart hasn't bothered to inventory and restock. Seriously, the only people I see consistently working are the cart collectors.

    Paveys Country Store - Gas

Is it a convenience store that sells groceries or a grocery store that sells gas? It's a hybrid. I…read morecould smell the fried chicken when I opened the car door. And I was starving. Paveys Country Store opened in 2023 . Paveys is a chain popular in eastern central Indiana. This store is fully stocked with groceries, has fresh meats (some local), fresh produce and a deli counter. They have a fried foods counter with chicken, tenderloins, potato wedges and fried mushrooms. People were lined up. They have a little counter in the front of the store where you can eat. I had a fried chicken breast and their deli coleslaw. The breading on the chicken was crispy and fabulous. The meat was a little dry and the coleslaw tasted like run of the mill grocery coleslaw. My husband had the breaded tenderloin, which was phenomenal. The breading was seasoned well and the pork, while thick, was tender and juicy. The $7 sandwich included two large tenderloins with all the fixings. The large bun didn't hold up, but they rarely do on a good tenderloin. It was a 5 star tenderloin. We also picked up some locally made hotdogs. The grocery offers a lot of locally made products, including deer summer sausage. Prices are great, not what you'd expect from a convenience store. Service was a bit indifferent. There was no engaging conversation or smile. But it was late on the day. The store is immaculate inside. There's plenty of close parking and the structure is accessible. You can pick up lottery tickets and there's an ATM in the store.

Great deli items, more convenient than having to go to 30th street if you just need a couple of…read morethings. Love the deals on the older bananas and use their chicken for my chicken and dumplings!
