I was literally running on gas fumes as well as physical fumes from driving. I stopped into the gas station at Meijer and went in to pay with a $50. I was literally told NO. They said, and I quote "we only have (2) $10s and (10) $5 and won't break a $50 this early in the morning." I was putting $25 on the car to fill it up. This is absurd. Absolutely absurd. I've been shopping here since I moved to the area 11 months ago. This is a clean, well organized store. They are rarely out of advertised specials so I assume they are restocking often. I was looking for the canned vegetables that were on sale when an employee approached me to let me know the cans were set up in the main aisle. The products that we purchased were fine but the customer service could really improve. For the self-checkout kiosks it's necessary to weigh produce at a scale separate from the payment points. Doing this first is not an obvious necessity. Rather than politely explaining this concept the clerk stated to us abruptly, "everything that goes through needs a label." I know that toys can only select three categories for a business. However, it just makes me sad that when you search donuts in Richmond, Indiana that it doesn't pop up Meijer. I have to buy lots of donuts for meetings for work, and they are awesome about being able to call the evening before an order 10 dozen at a time. I go to Meijer every few weeks. I find things there that I can't find at Kroger, which is closer to me. I get a lot of groceries there, so get a quite a bit to o stock up on. I also have M Perks, so I spend quite a bit, and every so often I earned rewards, which I use on future purchases. I also get coupons in the mail for items I purchase, so there are big savings there. Came here two days in a row and all out of 2% milk ​but stocked up in all other milk. ​

I do most of my shopping at Meijer. It is clean, well lit and I prefer the older demographic when I shop. I feel safe and don't see loiterers or shoplifters. Good variety of goods too. Outstanding produce section. Would like to see more organic foods. I do like that there is allot of US products sold there. I also like that there is no obvious DEI agenda shoved in my face. The staff has always been polite too. You do have to watch the prices though. Sometimes the price on the shelf is not the price you are charged. I use Mperks and Meijer coupons and they aren't always rung up. I have made several calls to get things straight and they are always super good about making things right. Just wish I didn't have to call in the first place. Something that would make me happier is for Meijer to provide stools for cashiers, greeters and staff. Aldi does and so do the US Commissaries. A cashier standing there DOES NOT make me feel important or them more professional. Get with the program Meijer and make your employees comfortable. That said, Meijer is my number one grocery store. I avoid WalMart at all costs and occassionaly shop at Krogers. I shop those only when Meijer doesn't stock what I'm looking for. read more

It's expensive when you don't buy sale items. As far as groceries go, Meijer is really expensive, similar to Kroger. Often times, I find that the store brand is more expensive than the name brand, e.g., Meijer vs. Classico pasta sauce. There are two things in particular that Meijer has that I find are better: Don Marco brand corn tortillas and their mini bagels. (They're just regular sized bagels to me, but since most people buy tires for breakfast, I suppose these are miniature.) I think I'll add some deli meats, as I'd just noticed that they have a few Dietz & Watson products. I also wanted to mention that the frozen foods section has been without power a couple of times when I've been there. Since many of the freezers lack doors, the products thaw somewhat. I've noticed the deformed boxes multiple times, but the corporate people don't seem to care. If it was only the boxes that were deformed, I wouldn't care, but do you want to eat products that have been compromised (i.e., thawed and re-frozen)? Some boxes even say "don't refreeze". It's rare that I've been in the store when all the self-checkout lanes aren't packed. Why they're only concentrated on the grocery end, I can't imagine. You'd think health and beauty items would be more likely to be quick trips. The rest of the store has a good variety of merchandise but you should always do your research before entering the store to buy. Confusion is a retailer's best weapon. I tried the Meijer brand replacement brush heads for my Oral-B/Braun motorized toothbrush and I won't buy those again. They were hard enough to make me bleed each time and they wore out within 2 weeks, rather than the 2 months that I would get out of the name brand. The service desk employee treated me satisfactorily, though none of them seem pleasant unless they do that when they don't have a customer. They were excessively unpleasant to my mum when she was returning items or mailing packages. read more

I was strolling through the cheese section of this Meijer when I thought to myself, "this Meijer deserves at leassttttt 4 stars on Yelp." Yes, it was the cheese section that did me in. Despite it's location in rural Indiana, Meijer didn't hold back the good stuff- be it cheese curds, 6 inch Brie wheels or herbed goat cheeses for that swanky cocktail party your hosting in the sticks tonight...you never know. And the party didn't stop in the cheese section. In continued in say isle 45 (this place is huge - I honestly don't recall which isle it was). I'm quite the sucker when it comes to a beefy international food section. Let me tell ya about the German section! It was no Klaus' or Heidelberg, but all the necessities for a traditional German meal were there: sausages, spaetzl, krauts, holiday cookies, etc. Made me want to pitch the heart-healthy food I was purchasing for my pops and make an artery clogging feast. Other 4-star worthy highlights of Meijer visit include a fair-sized wine collection with plenty of clearance bottles to choose from for those of us working slim budgets. Produce prices are very fair - I was so please with the 69 cent bundles of carrots that I bought not one, not two, but three bundles. Rumor has it, these things are good for your eyes... read more

If this didn't happen about every week I wouldn't complain but, they have a local reputation as being not very honest in their prices. Again today when we bought their sweet potatoes for 89 cents per pound they rang up as $1.98 per pound. The cashier got visibly upset when my wife told her of this. So, we were forced to hold up the line while she called for a manager who took five minutes to come. I meanwhile took a picture of the big sign with the correct price and showed it to her. This happens all the time. When I apologized to the people behind us they all said it always happens to them too. Nice store just a short drive but they constantly pull this price gouging. Either the it person who puts in the computer price or the store manager who can't be bothered needs to be let go. read more

My review would be better except for three problems. First, Meijer always run out of sale items sometimes on the first day of a week-long sale --especially diet yogurt -- and they frequently run out of regularly-priced items for weeks on end. Second, the large donut case almost always has house flies in it. I told some of the employees about it, but they didn't fix the problem. Once this summer there was a donut in the case with a huge fly stuck in it's icing, yuck! Finally, Meijer used to sell stylish nice clothing and jewelry, but now it just sells cheap, boring things. Overall, I think the employees are helpful and friendly, and I generally like the store okay. I just won't buy the clothes or eat the donuts! read more

Unless I only need to pick up one or two items, I usually drive about 25 minutes out of town to do my grocery shopping at Meijer. Their produce is always fresh, their selection is unmatched by anything close to home and it allows me to avoid Wal-Mart if I need items other than what you'd find in a regular grocery store. The prices are fairly comparable to what you'd get at Kroger or Marsh, but I always feel like I'm getting a better deal at Meijer because of the variety and quality. And a big thumbs-up for the self-checkout lines that allow for more than 15 items at a time. The bathrooms, however, are beyond disgusting. Seriously, you're better off going to their convenience store out front than risking your health in their restrooms. read more

Their bakery is dirty and nothing is ever all that good. Some of the baked items are OK, but never great. They run out of sale items on day 1 and often never restock. Employees are generally unhelpful and seem like they could not care less about their jobs. Produce section is a disaster area. Nothing stocked and spoiled produce left to rot. Went into the store to get an adjustment on some items of Apparel that went on sale literally a few hours after I bought it. They told me I would have to bring it back return it and go back to the shelf and get it. She said she had to put them in her return bin and I had to get a new ones to rebuy. I live probably 2 minutes from Wal-Mart, yet I will drive all the way across town to shop at Meijer because the service is just so much better. Their vegetarian section is shrinking, they stopped carrying tofurky and Dr. praeger's. Which they started mixing in meat products in the section too. Non-animal tested product choices are very very limited. OJ is very pricey, Marshes is much cheaper. Bakery is nice, fresh food section is nice, has soy/rice milk choices and free range organic eggs. I like Meijer used to shop there all the time, I lost my job a few months ago and to make money have been working odd jobs, using my free time to try and find something more stable. I go to Meijer thinking about how my shopping experience is always nice, big place sure they have a job opening or two. I go and fill out an app check up a few times finally call and get to speak with Brad, who immediately, after he asks what shift I want, I say 1st or 2nd, flies off the deep end going off about how people have waited 13 years to get on 1st and there is no way I remind him I said 1st OR 2nd he continues his little hissy fit finally saying that I'm not good for the position. I've been many places looking for a job and heard it all but have never had someone treat me like that when all I was doing is looking for a job. read more

I just love shopping here. Your always greeted by a nice door greeter. They put an effort into keeping it clean and organized in there as well. The only thing I don't like is when you go grocery shopping at night. It's very hard too, because they are stocking shelves. I've also noticed people who are stocking shelves seem to get really annoyed if you try to come down their aisle. Which is annoying as well especially if the only time you can grocery shop is at night. I love the cosmetic section I have never seen a section so clean and organized!!!! The bathrooms are a tad on the gross side though. They seem like they get cleaned just twice a day if that. I just think they should just redo their bathrooms. I just love how they have almost every check out lane open. It's really convenient. I think there just a little bit to pricey sometimes but I guess you just have to wait till certain things are on sale. read more
