Outside there is a bench, but it was wet from the rain. There is street parking out front. I may have to go back for some pie.

It was extremely hot on this day and everything was sitting in the open, I still tried some of them that I fought the bees for. They had been open a few hours. I do not have young children so I did not try any of the outside activities. I have an orchard much closer that I love so I likely will not come back soon.

Stopped in this quaint little roadside diner to grab an early dinner. Walked in to an empty place…read morethat quickly filled with the evening rush. We settled on cheeseburgers that came out hot and fresh. Vegetables were cool, crisp and fresh providing a great accompaniment to the well seasoned hamburger patty. Topped with a slice of American cheese and a side of crisp tater tots this was a great meal on this blue sky summer day. Overall, this is a classic American diner featuring hamburgers, hot dogs and corn dogs. A local favorite also on the menu is the breaded or grilled pork tenderloin. In addition to hot food there was plenty of ice cream available for the sweet tooths in the crowd. We closed the deal with milkshakes; one vanilla and one black raspberry. Both hand-spun and excellent. Not so thick you couldn't get it through a straw but not so thin you felt like you were drinking a glass of milk. A perfect end to this classic American meal. Seating was plentiful; all tables and chairs arranged in groups of 2, 3 and 4 seat tables with a larger 6-top in the middle. The business also had a nice clean and well stocked restroom which always makes me feel better knowing that they have an eye for cleanliness. Price point was perfect for the quality and quantity of food you get. Overall this is a great little spot in Hagerstown in you are in the area looking for a quick bite to eat. My only critique is the staff... and this may have been an off day for the young man who took our order. I had never been here before so I asked the young man behind the counter what he recommended; what was the best thing on the menu. His response was a little stunning, "I don't know, I don't eat here much." This was a perfect opportunity to point me toward any menu item available but he missed the mark. Maybe just an off day and not enough to lower my rating but something I felt was worth noting.

My husband and I took our little boy to Dougherty Orchards last weekend to the petting zoo. As I…read moresaid in my last review, it's a really nice setup, except for some reason they have tiny cages for animals who aren't exactly "pettable." They have two arctic foxes cooped up in a corn crib, and a coati (kind of like a raccoon) in a tiny, dark cage. The poor thing was just pacing like crazy. It made me so sad that it was hard to enjoy the rest of our trip. I just don't understand why they'd have these animals in such small enclosures - or even have them at all, since they're not exactly petting zoo material. Oh, and maybe it's too early in the season, but the apple situation was not looking so good (presumably due to the drought we had this summer). The yellow jackets did not get the memo, however.

They've also got home made doughnut holes, caramel apples and cider slushies. In the store, they have candles, candies, jellies, and sauces. Dougherty is known for their petting zoo, too. Admission is $1 and you can purchase an ice cream cone full of feed. It's not exactly a "petting" zoo as most of the animals are caged and the ones that aren't can bite. It's small, the cages are very small and it'a mostly goats, chickens, turkeys, pigs, deer, guinea pigs, donkeys and a porcupine. If it bothers you to see animals in small enclosures, don't go. If you do go, keep your fingers out of the cages! Those suckers bite!
