Unfortunately today I come in and its a very young person working alone with a group of three of his friends sitting around the counter. I stumbled upon this store by accident as I came to try out their neighbor, Velocity bike and bean. I was pleasantly surprised to see this next door and even more surprised once I walked in. The inside was much larger than it looks from outside. They have so many great products for the health conscious or someone with special dietary concerns. I have to say there wasn't anything missing! To start there is a small produce section. Next to that I found a great produce preservation tool called the bluapple, which was cheaper than on Amazon! Next I found some healthy bars for on the go, cauliflower puffs, and pork rinds. For backpacking I got some miso soup packets and powdered coconut milk. They have some great honey products and a huge frozen/ refrigerated section. The whole left side of the store is supplements and natural beauty. They have books too! There is even a great pet section! Up front you will find a comprehensive selection of CBD products. Upon going to check out I found out Tuesdays are $2 off, they had another coupon if you spent $35 and a rewards program for earnings back! I went in this store out of curiosity since it's next to the coffee shop. The place offers all organic products or everything natural. I am all for organic and natural or healthy living, but I think the prices for the products in the store was pricier than what I can afford. They have kombucha which I really like, but o cannot afford their price which was $3.99. I also like that they have hemp oil, but again it's something I really have to think twIce before paying for that price. Got strong pollen allergy, and friend told me that local honey may help. So i googled and found this store actually in the area. It's quite unique store, has a lot of stuff. The lady at the store are very friendly, and helped me find the local honey immediately, and also gave me some suggestion on the dosage for allergy purpose. However, the staff is knowledgeable and can help you find what you are looking for. Recently, I was looking for Slippery Elm capsules for my grandmother (as recommended by her physician). The salesperson didn't even hesitate when I asked where it was; she walked me right over to the shelf. As impressive as their vitamin selection is their natural pet food and care selection can't be beat in Northern Kentucky. Though I'm not a pet owner myself, this would be the only place I would shop for a critter given the recent pet food scares. I've been going to Healthy Alternative for a number of years and though I like supporting local business, I'm often put off by the staff, so my review will differ from the others. I like their selection, and it seems that each time I go, there are more and more local products being sold. That's great! Some of the prices are a bit higher, but when you weigh out driving to Whole Foods in Oakley, it's just as easy to buy your items here if you're in the neighborhood. They are, to my knowledge, the only business south of the Ohio river that carries Dr. Praegger's natural spinach bites for kiddo's. It's the one thing my child WILL eat, so I'm apt to buy them where I can. When I was a week overdue with my baby, I went in to buy some more natural baby items for the nursery. The clerk asked me when I was due, I told her, then she launched into how I should "embrace the pain" of delivery and NEVER let them poison me or my baby--I should have looked into a douala and midwife instead of the hospital...Yes, I was in a Natural Foods store, No. I didn't ask for her opinion. In fact, by that time, I'd had it up to HERE with opinions about "how" I should do things with my baby. Turned me off from going for a time, but I went back. A few days ago, I went in to purchase the spinach bites and a few other things. My little one wasn't feeling well, so I thought I'd look into some vitamins or natural healing methods. As another reviewer posted, it can be overwhelming, but there was only one person in the store, the clerk at the register. So, I read and read, and when I was reading my third pamplet on a spin around display rack in an aisle, another clerk (?) with a customer came right into my space and she said, "That's exactly where I need to be." And then she just stared at me. So, I guess I was supposed to simply move because obviously, this clerk and the customer were FAR more important than anything I could ever need to do. And where was she while I was reading bottle after bottle and pamphlet? So I just went to pay for my items. The other clerk (the one who berated me about natural delivery) was giving a hard time to a woman buying MUCH to expensive holisitic dog food. Apparently, she purchases this food frequently and gets a discount from the manager. This clerk wouldn't budge and said, "I'm not her." Most of things this store carries, I can get at Whole Foods, Kroger, or even Target, now. While I love to support local business, I am less inclined when their staff seem to think they are above reproach where general manners and being polite are concerned. read more

If you are having a hard time finding what you need just ask one of the staff, they can point you right to it. Their opinions on supplements are pretty good too. While I'm there I usually take a minute to browse their food section and find something that looks interesting. They don't have a huge selection of food but it's definitely worth a look. This is my first yelp but I felt that it was necessary to share my feelings and sentiment towards this store and a particular worker. A few weeks prior to this post I had an interaction with one of the associates, a short blonde girl. I'll start at the beginning, as I entered the building I was greeted by one of the other associates, though they were all busy. As a few minutes past I had some questions and inquiries about certain products etc. This young lady appeared to not be busy and I asked if she could help me, she seemed uninterested and I felt immediately like a bother. I asked her name and she said what sounded like 'Malia'. Prior to asking her for help she was fully engrossed in her phone and frankly i wasn't even sure if she was an employee. Regardless, I asked her a question about a product and to sum up everything she said was "I don't know." I brushed it off, I understand there is a lot to know. I inquired about another product, I asked if there was a cheaper alternative she then responded with "you can probably get it somewhere else cheaper". She then proceeded to leave me in the aisle, which is fine! But when I was finished in the aisle examining products and trying to educate myself on what I could, she was back on her phone. The whole experience left a terrible taste in my mouth. I know the rest of the staff isn't like this, but this girl drove me away for good. read more
