It must be a difficult store to work with all the people always in the store. I think it's universal, though. I've shopped Big Lots in Florida and Texas, as well, and all the staffers are friendly. Here is a store that usually has international groceries such as noodles and sauces from Malaysia, biscuits/cookies and stollen from Germany, and pasta from Italy. They also have groceries from the U.S.A. Of course, it's all about the deals and they have plenty of them. A word of caution is necessary. A few years ago, I noticed that they started to carry full price items and interspersed them with their discounted liquidation items. If you don't compare, you may be paying full price. In this town, there are few places to shop and Big Lots can undercut WalMart and Kmart easily, even at those stores' lowest prices. You've heard the cautionary statement "You get what you pay for"? It can be very true, at any of those stores. Name brands matter. Check for quality. Don't assume anything.

This location is particularly messy and while I have occasionally scored here, more often than not I'm let down. Their book department is almost all children's titles and cookbooks. I was hoping for a board game, but again that department is primarily stuff for small children. Clothing? Mostly work gear, men's jeans, plain T shirts, thick socks etc. This last visit I had success with some closeout Del Monte canned vegetables and tomato products but overall the food items don't really seem all that cheap. Disappointingly, they do not have even one electric scooter shopping cart for people with mobility issues. The staff members are very sweet and pleasant and there is usually an adequate number of them. It is fun to roam around in here every couple of months, as you might possibly find a hidden gem. Just don't get your hopes up too high. I would say if you have numerous small children on your gift list, you'll probably be satisfied.

Rude cashier and a horrible manager…read more Waited behind a few younger kids while the cashier was stocking, wasn't that big of a deal because I was planning on waiting until she was finished doing what she was doing then let her know we were up there. This cashier was talking to the manager who let her know that we were up there, she then proceeded to walk up to the front and turn back around to the aisle she was in and continue stocking while yelling to the manager two aisles over "There is a bell up there that they can ring." Remind you two younger, shy girls were in front of me, I hadn't seen the bell and she surely couldn't have expected those children to ring the bell for her. I understand that cashiers stock and it can get hectic in there but it was by no means busy and she walked up there and back to stocking while we were in line.

He also found me a small collection of Poe which I also secured for my library. I was also advised that I can let them know of books or authors that I'm seeking and they would let me know if anything comes in. The store is big so I know there is much more for me to explore next visit and they have several cozy sitting areas where you can just read, or have a cup of tea as well. It's sadly amusing that they have a billboard you can see from I-70 touting the 20+ stores. I even feel bad for the seniors walking the mall. It's so small that older people can walk the whole mall in 20 minutes. (I'd been a regular in malls with 250+ stores.) The only reason I go there is Carlos' Pizza and OfficeMax. Update: Sears has closed and J C Penney isn't that busy, ever. American Eagle and Aeropostale probably get the most business, even in such a poor town. The girl was obviously struggling and instead of teaching her the older lady raised her voice and told her she can't use that printer and that it was the wrong one, the girl calmly replied where she got it from and the older lady looked at her for a moment and continued to be agressive and rude stating she had to use her own printer (or something along those lines.) The line was busy enough that the other costumer getting checked out by the young girl told her she was doing a great job and some people should just be nicer to their coworkers and I totally agree. If this is what your employee treats others like in front of costumer I can't imagine what she does when no one's around. Coming from another retail associate I know what being looked down upon feels like just because older people think they have more authority than you and it's sad to see. Hopefully next time you can teach your employees to treat their coworkers with respect and uplift eachother instead of putting eachother down. I didn't see their name tags (the older lady's was flipped around) but I just want to give props to the young girl for handling the situation very maturely even though she looked flustered she did not give a reaction back and continuing to do her job.
