Finding a massage place you can truly trust in SF is harder than it should be. Between questionable…read moreambience and not knowing what you're walking into, it can feel like a gamble. Siam Orchid on Polk takes all of that uncertainty off the table. The moment you walk in, the interior does the work. Wood paneling, soft music, and a space that's clearly been thoughtfully designed to transport you somewhere calm. You're in relaxed mode before you even lay down. One thing that stood out to me: you pay after the massage. That tells you everything about how seriously they take their craft. I've tried several services here including the traditional Thai, Swedish combo, Thai aroma, and hot stone. All of them were exceptional. My recommendation on timing: 90 minutes is the sweet spot. Over an hour is a must, and two hours was a bit much for me personally. Pricing is fair for the quality, and they offer a small cash discount if you bring it. They also have water, tea, and a lovely bathroom, which sounds like a small thing but adds to the overall experience. This is not a cheap random massage parlor. This is the place you go when you actually want to release muscle tension and leave feeling restored. My go-to in the city. If you can't find an appointment at the Polk st location the Taylor st one is just as good too!

Psoas Massage + Bodywork - Reception

Prior to visiting Psoas Massage + Bodywork, I hadn't experienced a focused sports massage before -…read moremost of my past massages were more along the lines of spa, Thai, or general wellness sessions. Because of that, the experience here felt very different, especially with the more conversational atmosphere. The location is convenient to get to, whether ' walking, taking public transit, or arriving by rideshare. And it's easy to find - just up the stairs with clear signage. Stella is excellent! She immediately put me at ease and kept an ongoing dialogue throughout each session, which made the experience feel both comfortable and intentional. I purchased the intro pack, which included three sessions, and I booked all of them with her. The package also came with a private sauna session, which was a nice bonus that I used on a non-massage day. They provide towels, though it's worth noting there isn't a shower available if you need a fuller refresh afterward. Overall, the massage sessions have been beneficial, especially on days when I was feeling particularly tight or sore. Their focus is clearly on targeted wellness and bodywork, so if you're looking for a more traditional spa-like experience, this may not be the right fit. But if you want focused, intentional care, it's definitely worth visiting.

My massage with Robyn was incredibly disappointing--lazy technique, zero attention to detail, and…read moreto make it worse, Robyn was loudly slurping from a straw throughout the session. It happened repeatedly (at least 10 times), completely ruining any chance of relaxation. I stopped coming for a while after that, and when I finally returned, I was told I had two massages that had "expired." That alone felt questionable...but what happened next was worse. The staff told me the owner would contact me before moving forward. That never happened. Instead, they went ahead and charged me $180 without any communication or approval. This place feels disorganized at best and dishonest at worst. Poor service, poor communication, and questionable business practices. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Worst massage experience I've ever had with Theresa! I had to stop the session midway through,…read morewhich has never happened in my hundreds of massage experiences. During the massage, I briefly mentioned that one area felt unusual and asked whether it was normal muscle tension. Instead of responding professionally, Theresa immediately became defensive, said my comment "threw her off," and accused me of being disrespectful and interrupting her -- despite the fact that I barely spoke during the session. What made the experience especially shocking was the complete lack of professionalism to handle basic client communication. Every attempt to calmly clarify my intent was met with interruptions and escalating confrontation. I apologized for misunderstanding and explicitly said I trusted her professional judgment, but was then scolded more. I even suggested that we stop arguing and simply continue the massage, but she insisted on ending the session entirely. A massage should be a safe and relaxing environment where clients can comfortably communicate or ask questions. Instead, I left feeling stressed and honestly stunned by how hostile the interaction became over a simple question. I rarely write bad reviews but felt this experience was important to share. ------------------------ Update: After posting this review, a 5-star review appeared within an hour with personal attacks on me. The owner also DM'd me with a link and asking 'is this your employer?' to intimate. I have screenshots and have reported it.
