Was in desperate need of a massage but not willing to spend a fortune for a bougie place. I found Mandy's just looking for stuff in a 5 mile radius and sent a message over Yelp and scheduled something for the same day within 2 hours. This place is tucked away upstairs in a suite at some chiropractor's office. You have to get buzzed in and go upstairs. If it does matter to you, the ambiance is not exactly luxurious - no aromatherapy or special views. Just some meditation music playing out of an ipad and a couple candles. Regardless, the massage itself was great. Mandy really goes at all the knots and ensures the massage is from head to toe. It was a very well spent 60 minutes. read more

Mandy is definitely a gem. I've been in a lot of pain and having tightness all over from lack of care to myself. I've been struggling to find someone near my since I moved to sunset, and found Mandy on yelp. I was able to book a last minute 90 min deep tissue appointment. We started off talking about what has been hurting me, problem areas, and what I usually do for pain relief. She was so intuitive to feel what was sensitive and needed extra or less pressure during the session. And she is very easy to talk to and explain the what's and why's of our body's pain. I'm pretty sore after, but that's because I have such tight muscles and they've been ignored for so long that they are sensitive. She even did some gua sha on me, which she was very careful to explain how it works and the potential redness it leaves temporarily. I've had gua sha before so I dont mind, but some people could be scared of it. read more

Mandy has a small, but quiet place on Taraval- very convenient to get to via public. Parking is also not bad if you need to drive. I have been to Mandy's 3 times- first time for my son who had a bad accident and twice for my upper shoulder pain. Her prices have gone up significantly, but given her operations and quality- I don't mind at all. Mandy speaks fluent Cantonese and decent english, but some of the things she's explaining technically is best if you know beginner/intermediate Cantonese. She is best bookable by text and seems quite busy on certain days given her regulars. I will only describe my last two visits given the first was a few years ago (but recall being satisfied with our service after the first visit). I went in for much needed shoulder and neck pain, which was getting worse by the day. The pain has never subsided there before, but seemed fueled by sleep positions and likely stress(?). I went to see Mandy and first visit, did a 60 min deep tissue massage. She spent about 40 minutes on my painful side to release my neck and shoulder. She really found specific trigger points to help me release some deep deep knots. She also gua sha'ed my neck and upper shoulders to release pain. It created some marks (similar to cupping) that went away after a few days, but you could see where blood and possible qi were stagnant in my neck and shoulders. After the first visit, I was VERY much relieved. I could move around more freely without soreness. My second visit was a week later, anticipating lingering pain. Lo and behold, my neck was stiffening up again but not to the same degree as previous. This time I got the 90 minute massage and reflexology session. I have been to many reflexologists and believe in its connected healing powers. I haven't had the same kind of pain since, and it has been about a month. I will definitely be back to see her anytime I have any issues. I wish I could go more regularly for maintenance!! read more

Based on Mandy's response to my initial review, it's clear that she admits to what she had done, and doesn't respect and/or heed to a customer's instruction. If my service requests had been for medical reasons, she could have caused some major injuries that can result in legal liability. That being said, I would highly recommend that others spend the extra money and look for massage services from qualified massage therapists. Isn't it amazing when you walk into a parlor and just get to work without too many explanations needed? My shoulder blades are on fire and I just knead someone to bash those pesky knots out. She got to work and my only regret 30 mins later was that I booked a 30 min appointment and not a 1 hour one. 30 mins were sufficient for her to give me 180º of unobstructed neck movement though. I love seeing Mandy. She's nice, gentle and very good at her job. She is knowledgeable about pressure points and muscles. I got into a car accident and had a very tight neck. I went for a 90 min deep tissue massage and I feel like a new person. She does do a full body massage though. But she says there are pressure points in your legs that help your shoulders and neck. I have to write a review for sweet Mandy! She is so kind and does a phenomenal job. I came in with a really tight neck and shoulders and she helped me relax and loosen up. Her little room IS difficult to find if you've never been, but it's a little entrance between the opthamologists office and the hair salon. The door says it's a Chiropractic Health office but she'll buzz you in and her room is right at the top of the stairs. It's small but it has everything you need! She takes great care and even gave me some bonus time to do gua sha on my neck to improve my circulation. She took her time explaining what it was to me and informing me that discoloration will happen (which is normal for gua sha). She even showed me pictures of other clients who had received gua sha so that I was comfortable with the results (which I was). I feel so much better now as a result of seeing Mandy! She's awesome! I've been seeing Mandy once a week for about a year now and am very happy with her service. My weekly appointments (I get the 90-minute body & reflexology combo, plus cupping every other week) are a major part of my "self-care" routine and help tremendously with stress and anxiety. Even my fiancé notices the difference - especially when I miss a session :P. I would recommend her to anyone & everyone! Looking over Mandy's other reviews, I do understand some of the criticism but can also understand the "why" of it all. When Mandy leaves the room mid-massage unannounced, it's usually to go wash her hands after massaging the leg/feet and before the head/face portion of the massage. [I had a previous massage therapist who did not do this - despite being a bit "fancier" - and it always deeply bothered me.] Sometimes Mandy's phone rings and she will pick it up, which can be distracting, but the way I see it is: she's a small business owner working entirely on her own and trying hard to accommodate all her clients. I can forgive the occasional interruption knowing that I'll get a good massage. [That said, maybe an answering service would help during sessions, but I speak zero Chinese and don't know how to communicate this politely.] I've never felt forced or upsold into a treatment. I have found Mandy to be respectful, gracious, and kind. She seems genuinely invested in my well-being. I feel lucky to have found her! read more

At the end of a long week there's really nothing better than a nice long massage (barring the price). Fortunately Mandy, a JEWEL in the sunset, was available for a same day appointment and I booked myself a Swedish massage within the next few minutes for the following afternoon. Mandy's room is a little difficult to find. Look for the chiropractor office and her sign outside, and press the button on the side to get buzzed in. Her room is pretty small and if I have one complaint, it's that the curtain's a little thin and doesn't provide a lot of privacy (I waited until the door was closed before I started changing). I got to my appointment 15 minutes early and Mandy was free to start my massage early. I haven't done too many massages but I really appreciated that she did some deep tissue techniques as well. At the end I regretted not buying the 90minute service instead. Her prices are extremely reasonable and I'll definitely be back soon! read more

I have been having back and shoulder pain that's causing me to have trouble sleeping at night. So I booked a 60 minutes deep tissue full body massage trying to see if it helps. Mandy was very experienced, she started relaxing the tighten muscles on my back and could immediately tell that my problem was caused by long hours of desk work. She suggested to add cupping after the back massage, as that would improve blood circulation and help loosen up the back and shoulder for a longer lasting effect. I messed up my neck and right shoulder from falling asleep weird on my sisters couch the other night. I woke up with a stiff neck and shoulder pain so I spent ALL day today looking for a place to get a last minute, quality massage. As I was about to give up, I found Mandy's Massage which is down the street from me. I noticed it was appointment only so I decided to give her a call to see if she had any openings. She didn't answer but ended up calling me back 30 minutes later & was able to fit me in as her last appointment! I got the 60 minute full-body Swedish massage for $50 and it was amazing! Hence the 5 stars! It was just what I needed: relaxing, pressure in the right spots, not rushed, she used hot stones, towels, beads and oils. I wasn't aware that she would be using all of those beforehand but I'm not complaining. I left feeling refreshed, relaxed and in less pain. Mandy is sweet and knows what she's doing. As soon as the treatment began, she examined the issue on my back by learning the knots and tightness. She was very thorough with the examination and would put an emphasis on massaging the muscles that needed extra attention. This place was recommended by a friend, I've been going to different massage places, and of course, some of them are good, then they change, and some of them is you get what you pay for. Mandy's is a little different, her prices are fair to low, she put's her heart into what she does. Very nice and friendly. She will ask of the needs, where soreness, pain, or even what problem (s) you might have. The best thing is; she is very true and professional, she will tell you what will work and what doesn't work, especially a lot of people think that one time massage will do magic and heal whatever the problem is. She takes the time to explain and shares information. She never shorten the time also, matter of fact, there were only over time for all the times that I've been there. She showed me a lot of pressure points where can help anyone to relief pressure and or pain temporary. Well after she said how great it was, I rushed over and Mandy was nice enough to squeeze me in as the last one even though she had to stay a little passed her closing time.
