YAY for Shiatsu Point! I left my appointment today feeling like I always do - a new person. I have been going to Min for years when she was with Fuji Shiatsu. She truly is a miracle worker. Going to her every few months is a part of my life and I usually make an appointment with her before and after my vacations when I tend to walk a lot which is hard on my back. Scoliosis as a child plus a really bad car accident plus an office job and well...my back is always tight. There are so many 'knots' in my neck and upper back that Min finds a way of getting rid of and for that, I am so thankful. Going to her every few months makes my body relaxed and stress-free. It's like body therapy! For those of you that are unfamiliar with Shiatsu massage, it is based on the same principles as acupuncture, where hard pressure is applied to certain points of your body. After discovering Min years ago (she was recommended by a friend), it is hard to get any other type of massage from anyone else- I'm hooked. It is super affordable as well. $70 an hour (tip not included). Amazing value and much much cheaper than some of those chain massage places. Cash preferred but she also accepts credit cards now (Visa, MC, No amex). Shiatsu Point is by appointment ONLY. No walk-ins. There is lots of free parking in the area which is another plus. I used to be a client of Min's when she worked at Fuji Shiatsu in Japantown through 2017. I am so thankful that I found her after all these years because she is the only one who can do what she does as well as she does. After 8 months of working on a laptop from my kitchen table during the pandemic, my back, shoulders, and neck have been very sore. My husband tried to give me a massage last night but it only made things worse. I woke up this morning and felt like I was in a neck brace. I am 32 years old and I could barely get out of bed go to the restroom and get back in bed. I had no movement up down left or right in my neck or shoulders and felt pain all the way down my spine. I did deep research and finally found out where Min is working these days. I've been nervous to go into a massage parlor during Covid but I was desperate. I was pleased to see when I got there that Min is the only masseuse at the parlor and can only take one customer at a time. She took my temperature as I came in and explained that everything had been sanitized including the bathroom and the massage bed between visits. I was specifically nervous about placing my face inside of the face pillow attached to most massage beds. When I got there I realized it's leather and easy to clean. Min also had several barriers on top of that for separation. I'm so glad I went in to see Min. I'll need to go back a few times over the coming months to undo the damage that's been done, but I am already feeling 10 times better and have full movement. I just got my first massage in over a year with Min at Shiatsu Point, and I feel great! I chose this place after reading other reviewers saying that they had followed her to this location. That says a lot! Also, it's in my neighborhood and I can walk there! She asked me what I needed work on, and I just said EVERYTHING! During the massage I could tell she was a seasoned pro, and I didn't have to make any comments or correct her pressure. She's very intuitive. I made an appointment for next week, too, for two reasons: I had a wonderful experience, and it's affordable for me to go on a regular basis. Here are some other things you might like to know: Min takes Covid extremely seriously. Her whole establishment is very very clean! Be prepared to wear your mask the entire time, even during your massage. I felt very safe because she takes safety seriously. When I handed her my credit card she even used a sanitizing wipe to take it and didn't touch it. Another thing to note is that she is the only practitioner, so there's no chance of multiple people being in the establishment. She gives very capable Shiatsu style massage, very different from Swedish style massage. It is more aggressive but never painful. She will work all the knots out. My sister and I was driving the other day and passed by this place, we don't know why but my sister was so interested to try it She booked it online and we tried two separate days. We both have our back and neck pain and in one session, Min had helped alleviate our pain for the Shiatsu. Its so good because she knows the pressure points exactly and work from there. I've been a regular customer of hers for 5 years now and she really has helped me through some shoulder, IT band, and lower back issues. After 1-2 sessions we figured out the right amount of pressure for the sessions to be restorative yet relaxing. Min is really knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and experienced. Before the massage, she asked which areas have been bothering me and whether or not I have had any health issues lately. She targeted my tight shoulders and neck and could tell that I grind my teeth and sleep on my side. She's a very comfortable person to be around and the environment is also very nice and clean. The massage will be slightly painful because of the nature of the shiatsu, but min is very observant of your discomfort and always asks whether or not you are comfortable.
