Worst massage experience I've ever had with Theresa! I had to stop the session midway through, which has never happened in my hundreds of massage experiences. During the massage, I briefly mentioned that one area felt unusual and asked whether it was normal muscle tension. Instead of responding professionally, Theresa immediately became defensive, said my comment "threw her off," and accused me of being disrespectful and interrupting her -- despite the fact that I barely spoke during the session. What made the experience especially shocking was the complete lack of professionalism to handle basic client communication. Every attempt to calmly clarify my intent was met with interruptions and escalating confrontation. I apologized for misunderstanding and explicitly said I trusted her professional judgment, but was then scolded more. I even suggested that we stop arguing and simply continue the massage, but she insisted on ending the session entirely. A massage should be a safe and relaxing environment where clients can comfortably communicate or ask questions. Instead, I left feeling stressed and honestly stunned by how hostile the interaction became over a simple question. I rarely write bad reviews but felt this experience was important to share. ------------------------ Update: After posting this review, a 5-star review appeared within an hour with personal attacks on me. The owner also DM'd me with a link and asking 'is this your employer?' to intimate. I have screenshots and have reported it. Due to this, I will be updating my review accordingly. -------------------------------------------- I came to TRX massage a while back because I was experiencing shoulder stiffness and lower back pain. The massage itself was good, even though it was on the harder side, dispite me mentioning that I would like less pressure. After the massage initially, I felt some relief, but in the days to come, I experienced bruising and more pain in my shoulders, causing me to even develop a headache. In addition, the owner assumed that I booked a 90 minute session when I had booked a 60 minute session, and she did the full 90 minute massage on me which I did not notice since I had fallen asleep halfway through the massage. There was no implication that I would be refunded for the time difference, and I paid for the 90 minute session instead of the 60 minute session. I felt very uncomfortable to speak up during this process, but since the massage while on the harder side felt good at the time, I still gave a $25 tip and paid for the 90 minute session. I asked for a receipt a few weeks later since I thought I was double charged (I was not) when checking my credit card records. If you are in the Mission Bay Area, I would recommend going elsewhere, as there are many friendlier and far better massage places to check out! read more

I just had a 60-min massage session at TRx! Booking an appointment for the same day was super easy - their online system is really user-friendly. I wish I remembered the name of my massage therapist because she was incredible. Her deep understanding of how the body works really shows. She also shared some really insightful tips about how to improve mobility and how to understand my muscles and joints better. Also the massage room is pretty massive for SF and is thoughtfully decorated :) I work from home and am active, so my back, neck, and legs are often pretty tight. The therapist focused right on these areas with some amazing deep tissue work. I also really liked that she used hot stones and essential oils. I walked out feeling like a new person, totally refreshed and relaxed. It was way more than I had hoped for. Huge thanks to my massage therapist at TRX Massage. This place is a hidden gem!!! One of my best friends referred me to this place. I think I have pretty high pain tolerance, but this time I was in such unbearable pain for my right shoulder/neck, I literally woke up at 4am because of how painful it was and made a same day appointment (90mins). MAKING AN APPOINTMENT: Super easy and intuitive, very quick! I was later told if you want more than one person at the same time (like a couples massage), just leave a note when booking or email and they will get back if they're available. LOCATION: I was a little confused at first (my first time), the entrance looked somewhat like it was part of an apartment complex and the door was locked but Theresa was on time and popped out to grab me! GETTING READY FOR MASSAGE: It was preferred to be naked down to only wearing underwear for the best massage. MASSAGE: I am SO impressed. Theresa is incredibly experienced and technical. I was in so much pain when I walked in and after telling her the general area, she got to work immediately. Not only did she pinpoint EXACTLY all of the points that caused the pain, she went at it until she got it cleared out. Not going to lie, she went pretty roughhhh, but SO worth it to get everything cleared. No doubt you can tell her to ease it up, but I didn't because I loved it. I could really feel how technical she went at each movement, going for the very specific spots and super focused on what I needed. Haha, actually it was quite impressive to experience how she magically knew what I needed throughout the entire massage. She was also super careful and thoughtful on how she handled my body--no movement was wasted! AND at the end, she also gave me some thoughtful tips on how to stretch. RESULT: I left the place feeling a little sore from her getting at my pain spots (which is absolutely expected), but DEFINITELY incredibly refreshed and super thankful that I was able to move my neck and shoulder again without pain. I flew into SF on Saturday. My back was hurting a little, but it was tolerable. The small airplane seats never fit my 6'2" frame, but what can I do? Next day I give a talk at the Moscato Center, am on my feet a long time, and decided to walk to the Top of the Mark for a drink. By the time I get there, my back is starting to hurt. From there, a show at the Curran which also had small seats. No leg room for larger people. By the end of the show the back is radiating pain and the walk back to my ABNB is bad. I take a few advil and hope for the best. Next day, extreme pain with occasional muscle spasm, just to let me know who is in charge of this body of mine. I look for a masseuse and got a same day 11:00 am appointment near my ABNB. It's a small office set up for massage. Clean, nicely decorated, restroom, quiet music playing. Smells great. I booked a 90 minute massage, and she was superb (sorry, I can't remember your name). Most of the 90 min went to my back. I asked for CBD oil- a first for me. When I walked out I was a new man, ready to visit the museum's and restaurants. That massage saved my SF trip. Most of the time I get a massage to work out my muscles in neck and shoulders - because I type all day for a living. Today, I was saved by a pro who knew just that to do. My dear friend and I were yearning for a long, overdue massage after a pretty intense quarter of studies. We spoke to Theresa and got our massages scheduled together (we're not together. *whispers* I'm *hey*). But it was EVERYTHING I needed. I shared with Theresa that my shoulders needed some breaking and by the time I got on the table, I was like, please do your thing and let your hands guide you... and boy did they! The depth, the approach, and the stretching were on point. So much so that my hazy vision disappeared. They also used this menthol infused oil/lotion/magic that made my body go 'Mmmmmm'. I have some chronic neck and shoulder pain issues for past few years and have tried massages literally everywhere around the world: sports massages, deep tissue, hot stone, you name it, from individually-run massage spots to luxury hotel spas. TR is probably right there with the best massages I've ever gotten. I tend to have bad knots in my upper back that need a lot of focus, pressure and attention to release. There are times when a masseuse just drills into your knots in a bit of a "wild" manner that just provokes a more aggressive tightening / "fight back" response. TR's massage is so damn PRO that she can achieve the same result with just careful manipulation and smooth strokes. The CBD balm just adds a whole new dimension to it on top. TR is a magical healer. Next time I have to ask how / where she received her training because it is very clear this is next level stuff. Thank you Theresa. You're an actual pain reliever.
