We've been to see her a couple times now at Fantasia Pet Resort and Kristi is great! I just text her for an appointment and she usually finds time within a day or so for me to come in. Her prices are the best in town for cat nail trims- $10 per cat. My vet charges $22! And i have two cats...that adds up fast. I can't give five stars because a. Kristi hasn't asked for any paperwork, proof of vaccination etc. and while my boys are vaccinated, who knows about the other animals?! and b. They take your kitties and you can't go in with them. So I haven't seen the space and don't really know how things go during the actual process. They seem fine and their claws are short so I am probably just overprotective but I wish it wasn't so mysterious. Oh and since this place is mostly a kennel for dogs, we had one not fantastic interaction with a dog last time while on our way out. Nothing big, just not ideal. read more

This is the first and last time I will ever take my dog to this place. When we went to pick her up, she had a cut on her belly, they explained that they reopened a scab that she had on her stomach. I know for a fact, my dog had no scab on her tummy. She's a puppy so she might've just been difficult when she was being groomed and they might've accidentally cut her, but I just can't trust a place that can't be honest with me. My last review was over 9 years ago. I am still a loyal customer to this day, although we have moved to south Reno so we don't see Kristi and her crew as much as we'd like. Kristi has treated my dogs like her own from day one. My late soul dog, Rylee, an American Bulldog that she always loved on and even when she was a senior she took the best care of her. And Bailey my former little (big) man was the wildest of ones and she never batted an eye. We now have crazy baby rottie Brooklyn and Kristi has taken her under her wing as well. She literally gives hugs goodbye to the pups. They are clean and smell good and always have adorable bandanas. We gotta get Brooklyn in soon because we don't want to go anywhere else! read more

My puppy was hurt, left with him acting extremely unlike himself growling and not wanting me to touch him. First time I took him months ago, he was completely okay. And ofc it's a weird experience at first but he was calm the whole way home. This second time today he was whining non stop and wanted to get away not letting me touch him. Love love love this place for cat grooming! When I called to make an appt the soonest they could get me in was 2 weeks. That was significantly longer than I've ever waited to get our kitty to the groomer--normally when I try to schedule an appt with a groomer it's about a 2-3 day wait. I was willing to wait the two weeks just to try Kristi's out, especially given the reviews from fellow yelpers. And I safely assumed that a longer wait probably meant Kristi was a good cat groomer. The drop off process was easy. Everyone was super nice and made me feel comfortable dropping off my fur-baby. I didn't love leaving Mollie in the same room as a bunch of barking dogs, but it wasn't a huge deal and that's pretty common for groomers. When they were finished, they gave me a call to come pick Mollie up and when I arrived I was so so happy!! Kristi was so sweet and told us all about her experience grooming Mollie. She let us know that she had accidentally nicked her (Mollie is an old lady and the excess skin can be easy to nick. It's pretty common with older cats actually). Also, Mollie hates, more than anything, to have her paws touched (let alone groomed!), but Kristi managed to not only groom and shave her paws, but also clip her nails! I could hardly believe it. Add a bath and a lion's cut and my sweet girl was looking furry-rocious!! Seriously, it was the best cut and groom she's ever received. In addition, Kristi made sure to put my fur baby next to a heat fan so she stayed nice and toasty before we arrived to pick her up. It's common for kitty's to get really cold after getting a lion's cut so it really was thoughtful that Kristi took this extra step to make Mollie comfortable. I've had several bad experiences with cat groomers and Mollie's behavior when we get home reflects that. But when we got home from Kristi's, Mollie was happy as a clam! So glad I found our go-to groomer in Reno! If you're looking for a cat groomer, I highly recommend Kristi's... and it's worth the wait! read more

Kristi's was great today for my visiting cat, Mark8! Finding a groomer who takes cats is no small task, some were booked out for weeks ahead and others just slow or not responding to messages. The atmosphere was a bit harried this morning at drop off because of a delayed employee, but they finished Mark8's bath, brush, and nail clip in a reasonable time for a very reasonable fee. Now he did pee in his box from excitement (or not having a pee op?) on the way home but he cleaned that off himself and he is soooo soft and fluffy tonight! read more

We have had Jason groom our dog twice and both times he has done a great job. The last groomer who was mobile said the 6.3 lb Maltese needed to be sedated the next time I saw her favor a back leg after (the dog not the groomer). With Jason she is just fine and looks great and doesn't seemed stressed when we pick her up. We've been going to Kristi's for grooming for our dogs for more than 5 years and I can say, without question, that we have NEVER had a negative experience. We always have Kristi (the owner) do our dogs-she's easily the best groomer in Reno and they are among the cheapest as well. When we moved here, we searched and searched for a groomer and were so happy when we found Kristi. We have bichons and she always trims them properly, nails are always nicely done, and the dogs come home happy. Or dogs love Kristi and are always calm and relaxed when we pick them up, a big difference compared to some of the other groomers in Reno. And Kristi is the nicest person, recently, she worked our dog in for a quick shave on only a day's notice when the dog had to go in for surgery and needed to have a short coat. She's also clipped our dogs nails, when they've gotten long a few times between groomings, on a drop in basis. I have to comment on Zach T.'s review, because I have been in there numerous times (our dogs go in once a month) and I have never ever seen the place filthy or noticed any bad smell. Also, the statement that stuff is piled everywhere is simply untrue. I've never noticed that. In fact, I was just in there this week, and everything looked just fine to me. I didn't notice any of the things this person mentioned, and I never have. Honestly, I have to question whether this person was even an actual customer at this place, based on the ridiculous and untrue commentary in this review. read more

Kristi is a great person and a top notch groomer. I brought in my Alaskan malamute who became pretty matted. It took two visits a few month apart but he is totally cleaned up with no mats! I was referred to Kristi by my parents who have been bringing their dogs to her for years. It was my dogs first time at a groomer and I dropped him off and went and took care of some errands. Kristi called me about an hour later saying Harvey ( my dog ) wouldnt come out of his crate and wasnt letting anyone near him ( he was just scarred, Harvey is a sweet heart ). Kristi recommended I come down and help with part of the process to see if that helped. Harvey was still a bit overwhelmed so Kristi and I both agreed to try another time. She then gave me a dog brush and shampoo for no cost! I was very impressed with how she handled the situation and even though things didnt work out I left happy. read more

So I read a lot of reviews before I took my dogs here. I read how long they took, so I was skeptical. I have a mini poodle (Gatsby) that looked like a mop, and a golden retriever/husky (Ginger) who's winter coat was beginning to fall out. I was nervous about my big dog because she had never been to the groomer before. I dropped them both off at 7:15am, at 10:30am I recieved a call from Kristi telling me she hasn't been able to do Ginger because while they are trying to get her out of the kennel she is growling and baring her teeth, which is completely unlike her. Instead of them saying oh your dog is an aggressive dog you need to come get her right away, Kristi asked if I could come down for a minute because she thinks she is just afraid and protecting her space. Sure enough I get there open the door and Ginger sits in my lap because she just needed me to tell her she was okay. After that Ginger was fine. SO my point of making sure I give them a review, YES they take a long time, BUT they take a long time because they don't want to traumatize the animal and they want to make sure they are not feeling threatened. Gatsby looks like a new dog, he looks like a poodle now and not a mop, they even cleaned his water stains that poodles are known for. Ginger is beautiful and clean, I can pet her now and not have her fur all over my hand. I don't trust myself with doggie nail clippers so I was glad to hear that this place did walk in nail trimming. I was in and out in 5 minutes and it only cost $5 to trim my pup's nails. They are cash only so be sure to come prepared! My dog doesn't need any grroming service but they do that as well. They have a big team working with dogs and cats of all sizes. read more

Extremely disappointed. Told by owner that the charge would be 65 or 70. The first time we went there we were told it was 95 because our doodle needed a shave and told then the next time would be 65 to 70. When we made our last appointment we again were told by owner that cost would be be 65 or 70. When we picked our dog up the owner was not there and told the charge was 95. If the owners price is not followed by employee then we will not go there again. Also the grooming was poor. In some places they shaved him and some places it was ok. Haphazard to say lease. I have been to many grooming salons for my Shih Tzu and Labradoodle but Kristi's has by far been the best. My dogs stand great for them because the care she takes. I drive 1 1/2 hours each way. Brought my little dog here for the first time today (it was his first groom too) and they were fantastic! My dog came out happy and beautifully groomed. He is a short haired terrier mix and has been shedding like crazy but they did a fantastic job getting rid of a ton of his hair. When I went to pick him up I realized I had forgotten my wallet at home like a dumb ass. I went in and told her I would be right back to get my wallet and she told me not to worry about it to just come back when I'm in the area again and let me bring my dog home with me. I can back right away though to pay her or course, but just the fact that she is so trusting of her clientele is amazing. We will definitely be coming back! read more

One star for many reasons... I dropped my dog off at 9:30 and I did not get a call until 5:45 that night!!!! They said "a groomer called in" but they should have told me that when I dropped off my dog otherwise I would have not made my dog wait all day in this very dirty place. Anywhere that can shave my unruly cat and make him look as if he had sat still the entire time will get 5 stars and a hug from me. The place is down the street from my place on Kings row. The Owner was super nice and in the fuzzy trenches that day i walked in. She took my cat from me and a few short hours later i received a call saying he was ready. I picked him up and he was so calm and relaxed and looked like a million bucks even though it cost me waaaayyy less than that. Price varies according to animal,size and if the animal might try to fight her. My cat is kind of a jerk so i thought it would be more but it was super afordable. Definitely taking him back! Oh and if you ask for a lion cut theyll do it. I got so much enjoyment watching my cat tromping around my house like a middle aged simba. Im sure hes planning my death though. read more

A local groomer. Walkable (Nobody actually walks in Reno, but if they did, it could be done). Open at 7 AM. Not awful. Chaos (not the Maxwell Smart kind). I made an appointment a week out for a shampoo, haircut, and nails for our pup D'Ohgee. Its been on the hot side and he was starting to look like a shaggy old man. We arrived a bit early and there was already a line (OK. One person with a small dog, but a line nonetheless). While the woman at the desk was immensely friendly and welcoming, the establishment was not. Yes, its a pet groomer, and pups are inherently chaotic, and the facility seemed designed to promote such chaos. But the haphazard way they were arranged, I initially thought that the rows of dog crated stacked 3 high and lined along the side wall were for sale, Nope. They were semi-permanent (not permanently attached, mind you) containers for temporarily warehousing pets while waiting for their release -- think American prisons. Open pens were scattered around the floor to hold larger dogs. None of this was horrible (dogs, after all), but these probably should be more permanently affixed. This chaos extended to the rest of the facility. I will keep stressing that they are dog groomers, an inherently messy business, but the place was (is?) filthy. I am not sure when the place was last cleaned, but again, since they are dog groomers, It could very well have been yesterday (I am being kind. It would require a debris box). But, I did not come for the ambiance, and my dog was not stacked along the wall. He had a nice pen in the middle of the room (little fatty butterpants is probably too wide to fit in a box. The woman who greeted us was a pleasure to deal with, and the groomer who took care of us, while grumpy from the time she arrived til I left, did a good job with the pooch. Its not a "boutique" by any means. But again, since they are dogs, none of them cared about any of this. Recommendation: Yes, I will take the pooch there again. To the facility: $40 is a steal. Raise your prices a bit and hire a cleaning service. read more

Friendly is all I liked about this place. Our dogs hair is much shorter than we told her we wanted and we were charged 10 more than quoted. Honestly I think he could of got the same cut for a lot less money and not have to be at the shop 81/2 hours. read more
