Even before I left the salon that day I notice my ends were straight she even noticed it and she said it's just SOME pieces you can take a curling wond like this and it will be fine. So I left happy my hair looked with more volume it was still pretty wet, as it got more dry the more straight it it looked my mom lifted hair in the back and chunks of hair were frizzy but pin straight. I wake up the next day and now more then half my hair is straight I call her I go in and she flat irons my hair, which I thought was weird because my hair looked so dried out dead lifeless but she flat irons it and tells me see your hair looks healthy it wasn't my products or anything I did mind you my hair didn't look healthy so I tell her what she is going to do to fix it she would give me a straight answer I told her I was beyond unhappy and she goes on blaming my hair that I don't know how to style that I can't expect to wake up like the pictures. And of course I didn't expect that I knew I had to do some work but this wasn't the problem the problem was that more then half my hair was straight I kept interrupting her because she was giving bs excuses instead of owning up that she messed up so she begins to YELL at me yes o said YELL full blown YELLING at me a pay customer. I naturally got upset but even being upset I didn't say anything back to her while she continued YELLING at me. Then she goes still YELLING I will not have anyone bad mouth my salon! And you see if she would have owned up to her mistake gave me a solid plan to fix it I wouldn't have said anything, but no she blamed my hair that I didn't know how to style it that this that everything but I never heard a I'm sorry you are so un satisfied. And on top she yelled at me! So I asked for my refund and as I'm walking out she's still yelling I can hear her from the parking lot. Then she calls my sister the one who recommended me to her and goes to say I wasn't paying attention when she was explaing that I kept interrupting her and a bunch of other bs, but not once did she mention her yelling or why she thought it was okay to yell at a customer who didn't come to her in any disrespectful way. I was upset my hair looked like shit because I didn't pay $140 for my hair to look like I braided it and let the braids out the next day and then put my hair in fire! She messed up and till this day I haven't gotten a apology! And after that day I went home waited the 48 hours to wash my hair because she made me think maybe it was my hair so I washed it after the 48 hours and did exactly what she told me and I even watched hair tutorials and guess what after the 48 hours now my hair was straight from root to about 2 inches down then curly for about 4 inches then pin straight for the rest of my hair which is about another 7 inches so there was only 4 inches of curl on my hair that is boob length! Connie is beyond unperfessional she doesn't know what she's doing and if you are unhappy with your results she resorts to blaming you and your hair and not herself do not recommend this place to NO ONE!!!

I have been going to Kristina Michele for many years and do not have one complaint. Tina, Emma, David and the entire staff are always friendly and welcoming. After all the years going there, Tina does not take me for granted. I feel free to tell her if I want something different or if I disagree about something and then we have a good laugh. The girls who wash my hair always massage my head (a good stress reliever) and ask if the water temp is good and if I'm comfortable with my neck over the sink. Most importantly, I get random compliments from strangers about how they like my haircut. People actually have done this in food stores, elevators, exercise places, etc. It makes my day and often I have done nothing special to my hair that morning. It's evidence that a good haircut makes a big difference! It's always a good hair day at Kristina Michele. read more

This is so hard for me to write, but I have to. This may be the most disrespectful group of women to ever own a business. After having a scheduled hair appointment for over 2 weeks, I was berated upon my arrival as they realized I was a transitioning woman. They made explicit comments about my appearance and called me derogatory terms. At this point I couldn't help but break down crying in which Kristina herself came from the back and told me to "get lost" and that she "doesn't welcome [my] kind in here". I have never felt so insecure and battered than I do at this very moment. Even as I exited the girls proceeded to knock on the windows pointing their middle fingers at me laughing. I am having a hard time right now even being disgusted at the whole incident as I am too distraught to have any other emotion. PLEASE AVOID THESE NASTY WOMEN. read more

Stephanie - I wanted to email you personally but was unable to find a Stephanie P. from Montclair in our database. If my response to your situation seemed rude I sincerely apologize. The professional training our front desk staff continually receives would preclude any such worded response to any client , especially an unhappy one. The unfortunate two week wait could only have resulted from scheduling conflicts between you and our stylist. Our salon has NEVER hesitated to promptly correct the very RARE instances of customer dissatisfaction. Nor have we ever had to be "talked into" doing so free of charge. If you choose to come see us again I am sure we would not only meet your expectations but surpass them ! read more

Lifesavers. I called Kristina Michele Salon out of desperation last night (my daughter Googled salons that had Sunday hours and they popped up). We messed up my daughter's hair with a 'color experiment' and she ended up hating it. She cried when she thought about going to school with this hairstyle. It was heart-breaking. The salon found us a small window of time this morning and Megan managed to match her hair color and fix the problem. Even though it was last-minute and they didn't know us from Adam, they took such care with her and made sure she was happy with the result. Nice people all around. My daughter is thrilled and relieved. We will be back! Hopefully, next time, with less of an emergency vibe. :) read more

I'm one of those women who is super concerned about my hair and picked the absolute BEST salon, Kristina Michele! All the staff are super friendly and go out of their way to make sure you are treated like royalty. As soon as you walk in the door, they are right there to make you comfortable. No matter what I ask for, color, highlights, "not too much off the length", etc. Jennifer makes it happen! Jen is an excellent colorist, stylist, and absolute "magician" when it comes to hair! The ladies who wash my hair not only wash and condition, but give each client a scalp and neck massage to die for. I avoid getting my hair cut like the plague.... I get very antsy having the patience to get through a hair cut. Kristina Michelle's is a holistic spa experience. It's definitely an experience and not a run of the mill "haircut." You will be treated like royalty from the moment you walk in the door: from coat check to a drink of you choice, to the most amazing hair wash you'll ever experience (my main reason for going) through to your cut/color/style. She fully agreed. when she put my toner on she then went outside for a smoke break, which was marijuana and not cigarettes. She left my toner on for too long and I was now a full brunette. she told me it looked great and I would get used to it. I was not happy so I came back the following morning to have my hair re-bleached. while waiting for the salon to open, I watched her again smoked marijuana before starting her shift. my hair lightened slightly, but still nowhere near what I wanted. I was left with hair that was brittle and broken from being bleached twice in less than 24 hours and was out $300. I'm not sure if the owners know that their employees are doing drugs while their clients are sitting in the chair.

I cancelled at the last minute, my son went home sick with a stomach bug. I was not surprised to see the next day they had charged my card $300. I understand the fee. However, I was told when I called and cancelled I could use that credit to reschedule. The next week I called to book an appointment after my kids were done being sick. I tried making an appointment for Saturday. The receptionist told me she would have to call me back to confirm. I received no call back. I called again later during the day, and again could not confirm an appointment. She told me Erica was with a customer and they would let me know. I again never heard back. I called the next morning and was told that they would not be honoring booking an appointment with me . How is this okay? I have read several accounts of customers cancelling last minute due to emergencies, and in those reviews the money has been honored and put towards a service. How is it that we don't treat customers fair and equal across the board? I haven't ever really had to write a bad review or go to a manager before, I'm a normal person, a full time working mom with two little kids, I just don't understand how is this okay?

I told her if she just was not comfortable with it then I could get someone else but she wanted to do it...she did complete the service. However, she ended up burning my eyelid, even after I told her that the wax was way too hot. I think it was a mix of her rubbing different types of treatments and liquids on my eyebrow and then waxing the same area multiple times with very hot wax. I get my eyebrows waxed every three weeks for the last 10 to 15 years and it's very easy for me to tell when the wax is too warm and obviously when your eyebrows are wax, your skin is red, but I could tell that the skin was just much more red. I did reach out to the Front Desk staff but nothing was done. I then tried calling multiple times, but to this day, I have never gotten a call back. And I honestly don't think I should have to reach out multiple times just for them to call me back. So while it does have very low prices and it's a beautiful salon I just had a negative experience that was not handled correctly so I really cannot recommend it. There are many salons in the area even within a one minute drive so I would recommend going to those locations over this one.
