Hadn't intended to eat when we stopped at On the Run gas station, but the smell wafting about and the chicken on display perked up my stomach. Plus, the prices on the menu were really reasonable, and the variety of sides got my attention. So I decided to give it a go. The joint was really hopping at one PM, with quite the line of hungry patrons.
I selected the three tender box with side and honey biscuit and dipping sauce all for $7.50. It was the perfect snack size for me AND my husband, lol. The employee behind the counter was both kind and efficient. I liked the taste of the food a lot, though I will say it could've been hotter (it had been sitting awhile under the heat lamp, I imagine).
I also want to give a shout-out to the On the Run employee (an older fellow) who was hanging new signs out front on the windows, because he overheard us talking about adding some oil to our engine, and said that if we couldn't find the right blend on the shelf then he'd look in back and find it for us. He also gave us a handy waxed paper cone to serve as a funnel so we could add half a quart without making a big mess. Truly he didn't have to be so helpful to us, he could've just focused on his task, but instead he hopped in to make sure we were taken care of. That was above and beyond what I typically expect at a gas station. So big thanks to him. read more
