I went to Krispy Kreme a couple days ago to get my hands on those Chocolate Eclipse donuts. When we got there a line was already formed for the next batch of donuts that would be ready in about 45 minutes. As the line grew and we got closer to the time of ordering I was nervous about how much longer it would take to get through the line. There was a manager and two high school aged girls working. But when the donuts finally came through that delectable chocolate glaze and were ready to go the employees conquered the line! They were friendly, quick, and efficient. I even ordered a specialty drink and they had it up in just a couple minutes. They tackled the line in no time. I am always impressed when I come to this Krispy Kreme on the friendliness of the employees and how they work together to get you in and out in a timely manner. Updating my review due to a better experience: Our son wanted to bring donuts to his class instead of the standard cupcake fare. We went in and told them what we wanted and why. They were so great at helping us. They not only got us what we wanted, they provided hats for the kids and napkins to take with us. The staff was great at interacting with our kid and making him feel special on his day. His class had a great time with their treat and hats and our son had a great memory. read more

The donuts are good but the selection is embarrassingly limited. The posted menu features 10-12 donut options plus some seasonal/specialty items. However, every trip in recent memory they have only had at most 3 different types of donuts. I could understand if I was coming just before close but my visits are almost always within 2 hours of when they open in the morning. I was willing to dismiss this as one-off the first couple times but it has been multiple visits with the same issues. Today, I went in early to get my wife her favorite types of donuts for her birthday, yet again they didn't have them. Her favorites are not specialty items, they are on the main menu. Why display items on your menu if you never actually have them? I'm not sure if this is an employee issue, a management issue, or a company issue. I like to get donuts for family/friends/coworkers to celebrate events but I think I have to take my business elsewhere if they never have what I want. read more

They ran out of donuts on their promotional day of "Buy one dozen, get one free." Who does that? They ran out of baking materials so they couldn't make more. They should have had the inventory on hand for such a big promotion. So many people walked in and out empty-handed we pulled up. Plus they were making donuts when we got there. I picked up some donut holes for my colleagues before heading into work. I have had these donuts before on the east coast. So, this was a pleasant surprise. As usual, you have the HOT sign that flashes when they are making fresh donuts. The glass window shows the whole donut operations with conveyor belts and glaze waterfall. Prices are higher than most donut places like Casey's. But, it's probably worth it for the variety and freshness. Only one here in the Des Moines area. read more

As a southerner, I LOVE Krispy Kreme doughnuts. But this location is truly substandard. On more than one occasion, I've showed up hours before closing only to find that they've sold out of more than half of their types of doughnuts. The eating area is not kept very clean, and the doughnut-making area looks the way it would at a normal, hidden-kitchen establishment. A glassed-in kitchen, where part of the draw is supposed to be watching the doughnut-making in action, should never have a floor this dirty! The doughnuts themselves are fine and tasty (since they have no contact with the unhygienic floor). But the service is terrible--teens with vacant stares, and no adults at all in the front of the store. My final complaint has to do with a new corporate policy, not this particular location. Krispy Kreme has just launched a new "mini donut" that is supposed to help customers who want to make smarter food choices indulge without ruining a diet (that's their claim). Why, then, are the doughnuts not available for single sale??? The kid behind the counter told me I HAD TO buy two. Two mini's are the equivalent of one regular glazed doughnut, so how are they helping anyone? Oh wait--it gets worse. The price for two minis (the equivalent of one regular sized glazed doughnut) is TWO DOLLARS! While one regular glazed doughnut is 99 cents. Ridiculous. They encouraged me to sign up for rewards, said I couldn't earn points until my "next" purchase, and sent me a birthday coupon that they refused to honor, saying it was a corporate coupon. I have purchase 3 dozen doughnuts plus 5 additional doughnuts, and all I have is 55 points, which is barely enough for any reward. I suppose when I want to cash that in they won't honor it, either. UPDATED- They converted my points to their new system, and now they have taken away all credits that I had accumulated. It is as if there is no "rewards" program at all. Donuts are always good, specials are hard to get a hold of. Staff is friendly. Restrooms are clean, which is a plus with me.

I had a fundraising event planned and went in to pick up the donuts, however when I got to the store, the manager did not have my order on file. I think the confusion began at the location in Omaha, NE where I placed my fundraising order. In all that confusion, the store manager was able to complete my order in a timely manner. Other than that, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I will be back for future fundraisers. read more

I've been here twice in the past six months. It is the only KK donuts within a 2 hour drive of DSM. This location seems to be always understaffed and a small line can turn into a big wait. I had bought one of the previous year's KK calendars with coupons attached to each month. Some of the coupon offers are not available at all locations due to each store's decision to carry certain items or not. I had about six months of unused coupons due to the fact which I just explained. The person working the counter wouldn't let me redeem any of them, even though they carried those items because the month it was offered had passed. I'm not crazy about their methods of chasing away customers, so I'm sure I've had my final visit to KK DSM. read more

Went through drive through today for a quick afternoon snack. Gave my order 3 times with no feedback or answer. Finally I said, did you get that? She said someone will finish your order. I didn't understand that, so I drove to the window. Again I was asked what my order was. After a long time, like 10 minutes, she asked if I wanted whipped cream. Then we waited maybe 5 more minutes for our order. My hot coffee was served in a clear plastic cup with a straw. However she was pleasant. Maybe needs more training. read more

We just tried to order 2 dozen assorted doughnuts at this location to take back to Minnesota for an office treat. It was 3:30 pm on Sunday, they are suppose to be open till 5:30. Two thirds of what we requested was not available for order, at this point we asked the employee, what is available, he couldn't tell us. Once we attempted to get the donuts and drinks, we were informed our drink order could not be completed. All while we were waiting, the employees were working on clean up- for closing. Great donuts and atmosphere. The workers were friendly and I love how you can watch the donuts being made from inside. The donuts are not overpriced and they also have good coffee. The drive thru is very convenient if you're in a rush- the only thing I would say is that they have given me the wrong donut in the drive thru before so I usually go inside. read more

Arrived at about 9am. No line. No issues ordering. But waited for what seemed an unnecessary amount of time to pay and get our donuts. Ours were on the counter and yet staff continued to package other orders before "closing us out". A 20ish drive from our home in Ankeny so the donuts weren't warm any longer but yet still soft and delicious. read more

Poor customer service!! They really need to work on this. Very rude to my son. Also wouldn't take online coupon, said they do not participate in the buy one box for 9.99 and get a second glazed for free. That's crap, they have before.
