I contracted with PIW, a licensed professional painter, for exterior painting of a local property. The contract included a five year unconditional warranty for performance of satisfactory workmanship. PIW did not perform satisfactorily and did not abide with the warranty. The core issue is PIW did not provide advice about a need for sanding the surface of the house siding. Not doing so, and painting over only scraped areas of old peeled paint, left ragged edges and an uneven finish after painting. PIW did not advise about this subject at the RFP & contract, during the painting, not until 10 months after project completion. PIW did agree to repaint discovered white spots and that is it. As PIW did not and would not abide, I filed a consumer complaint file with WI Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection [DATCP] File 159400. The filing has documentation of the matter from A-Z. The process start was a written RFP, to selection/contract, to painting/work gaps, to my inspection observations with pics of faults, to my claim to PIW, to PIW denial/rebuttal to DATCP. PIW replies to my claim & follow-up--denial: Contract paid, it's complete, no further obligation; I'm picky; Can't see it unless you go close up. At 10 months after project completion and my claim follow-ups, PIW said by email.. from his memory, early on there was a phone call to me about his advice on suggested areas to be sanded, but I declined due to the extra expense. I never spoke with PIW for the entire process. All communication was by email. The documentation from A-Z, and all exchanges with DATCP are in File 159400. PIW's response to a DATCP inquiry was: PIW is professional and always provides advice on work outcome.. then repeated the memory phone call.. then added.. have no way of showing the truth, phone is destroyed of timeline conversations, business computer was hacked and emails on the process lost. DATCP advised they have no authority to decide what prevails, my documentation vs. PIW's early on memory. Legal service is a next step.

I heard words like professional, fast, easy to work with, and I'd hire him again. Russ was able to get us about ten days later or so and he estimated the time he would need down to the minute. We removed everything from the walls, and that was a horrible job. Getting it all back up was no picnic, either. Because everything was going back to the same place with a few exceptions I only had to remove nails and screws from areas we wanted patched and painted. That made the job go faster and it was a brilliant move. Russ and his partner arrived Wednesday morning at 9:00 and when they left around 4:00 the upstairs was done. The next day they returned at 9:00 and completed the kitchen and small bath downstairs and the dining room and did one coat on the office and living room walls. They also painted all of the ceilings. On Friday they were back at 9:00 and gone before noon and the house was done. Everything everyone said about Paint It Wright was correct and then some. One of the colors we chose didn't look at all like what we thought it would. He called me in just to confirm I liked it. There was one room that just needed a color match and he used a little gadget computer and the next day it was obvious the color was way off. So we did it the old-fashioned way by paper samples and he ran by and swapped it out. Every step of the way he made sure I was happy with the colors. I seriously could not have asked for a better team or outcome.

From the initial walk through to the final touch ups, this company did an outstanding job. Let me give you a quick overview of how easy it was to work with these contractors. First, the initial sales person, Michael, was incredibly knowledgeable and able to see the vision we had for the first floor. He took a good number of photos and then met with other project managers at their office. From here, we met with an amazing designer, Halley. She answered every question I had and promised me she would guide me along the way. I had some ideas, and everything I forgot, she gently guided to a solution. I was able to pick everything from the exact sink and faucet, to backsplash and flooring. The amazing communication continued throughout the project using an app called buildertrend. We knew when the contractors were arriving for each step of the process. We were also able to ask questions through the app and received quick responses. I did have a couple of change orders, and even those were handled seamlessly. My project has been done now for about three months, and every day I love seeing the finished project.

We found him on Facebook (i know our first mistake) Chatted a bit and then he came over to see what he was working with. We were looking to get a 24x30 garage slab installed. We had laid a 24x24 at our previous house so we asked all the right questions. Where he was getting conrete from, if he was doing rebar etc. He told us he was starting his own business after 10 years in the industry (after what hes put us through something tells me those 10 years were spent pushing a wheel barrow and whining about "the man") he seemed like a nice guy, had all the right answers so we thought wed give him a shot to help his new business. WRONG CHOICE. We signed a contract stating he would lay the flatwork and cover cost on all materials. 1- He told us he was going to be using rebar. He only put it around the edges of the freaking slab. When asked where the rest of the rebar was he responded with "theres a fiber in the concrete that makes it so we dont have to use it" 2- We talked about a drain for our slab abd he knew we would be building in it. He said he would supply the drain but that we needes to provide whatever type of anchor bolts we wanted. Ok cool. He brought the drain we brought the anchors so they could be put in the wet cement. Which all happened fine and dandy until he had to cut half of the anchors off because they were gonna line up with any wall we could ever build. 3- None of his "guys" could cut a stake to save their lives. The kid was cutting stakes about 2 ft long which didnt hold any of their form boards causing the edges to bow out. The back edge bowed so bad he had to come back with a saw to "fix" it. 4- He left a god awful mess down our entire driveway. He allowed the concrete truck drivers to clean out their trucks on our driveway, we now have huge spots of uneven concrete everywhere. And he left big chunks of concrete (mess from his sloppy work) all around the slab which we now have to dispose of. 5- About a month after the slab was done we get a letter from the concrete company threatening to place a lein on our property for the cost of the concrete. We thought ok, maybe hes just busy and missed it. Tried to contact him via all avenues, crickets. Finally get him on the phone and ask him whats going on. He tells us he "has to go through his paperwork" and "would have someone look into it." To which we responded "ok fine but if your bill isnt paid we will seek legal action" to which he said "ok" and hung up. Got him on the phone one more time with the same answers and no change. 5- Called the concrete company who mentioned how much debt he has with the company and urges us to contact our district attorney as he was not responding to their certified letters or phone calls. Also asked about the added fiber in our concrete, and they informed us he never ordered the fiber, so big fat lie. So here we sit with a who knows how long itll last slab, a lein breathing down our necks and beginning the process with an attorney. A whole lot of junk that we shouldnt have to be dealing with. This fool thinks hes gonna start a great flatwork business without paying his bills and lying to his customers. All he cares about is doing the smallest amount possible to take your money and run.
