I typically do not take the time to review convenient stores, but I've been frequently this…read morelocation so often lately due to my busy schedule I decided to weigh in. This wawa is a community more than a convenient store. It's been here for over 30 years. It was a thriving business when my parents moved to Brick decades ago and is still quite the hustle and bustle of the town. This wawa is small, but they have the basics. I recall my mom asking my sister and I to take a WALK to this wawa during a number of snow storms growing up. It was quite the walk, but whether it was bread, milk, sugar, or even vanilla for baking it was there. The donuts are particularly yummy too. I remember my dad slipping us a few extra bucks to get some. They are still there! So are those warm breakfast sandwiches/pretzels at the counter. The staff is extremely friendly. There is one cashier I recognize from when I was in high school. That said, he's been there for years. He and all the cashiers are extremely pleasant. They also work fast. This wawa is located RIGHT off the park exit (91) so people are always coming and going, whether they are locals to Brick or just need some coffee and keep driving. The sandwich crew and coffee crew are on point. Fresh coffee, hot, and they never run out. They make conversation with you if you attempt, or leave you alone to decide whether you want the new "peru reserve" or that pumpkin spice which we all love. HA! The sandwich/deli crew is FAST. I've never had to wait long, despite there being a line. They almost always get your order right. I can't recall having to go back in and asking them to remake a sub, etc. This is quite impressive for the volume of customers this location gets. The customers are also always quite pleasant. I've had random conversations with people while adding some irish cream to my coffee or standing on line. I've had several gentleman offer to buy my coffee when I was struggling to find change and worried about holding up the line. People are always holding and opening doors for you. That is rare these days and very much appreciated. A few downsides, but improvements to come. The entire strip where wawa is located was torn down this past year or so to make room for a new parkway south entrance. ALL of the stores were bought out, relocated or closed, EXCEPT wawa. Basically, the parkway exits on and off are all built around wawa.... which I think is a true testament to how central it is to the area. I remember fearing they would tear down the wawa when they were doing all the construction and delighted it was still standing and OPEN the entire time! The parking lot is currently jammed and you need to drive CAREFULLY. However, they purchased the parking lot adjacent (behind the old rice king). I'm not sure if the intend to add a gas station or not, BUT, it is nice to have the extra space. I'd knock down this wawa a star because of the craziness of the parking lot, but that does not seem fair due to the fact that it's just the location. Plus, the extra lot now is a great improvement. Whether they build a gas station or not, I don't think it matters. There are plenty of places to get gas in the area. Just drive carefully, as one always should. Wawa is quite safe, too. It is open 24 hours but I've never seen anyone loitering. Brick police are in and out of wawa all the time, too. I avoid sketchy areas, this is not one of them. This wawa is old, small and compact, but it has all the basics. The staff is outstanding. The customers seem like family. I always walk out having an interesting conversation, a hot cup of coffee, and my favorite: one of their yummy salads. Super fresh. I recommend the cobb ;) Fantastic. I love wawa. I lived in the South for 6 years and Sheetz has nothing on wawa, and does not come close to this location. Stop on by!!!

This is one of those old school Wawa's that aren't totally corporate looking. But that also means…read morethey don't have amenities like a public bathroom. The place is also small, so if you order a sandwich, you'll need to strategically find a place to stand where you're not too close to other people. There's no designated place to line up, so people will just be in the middle of the aisle. Tiny parking lot, but I can't imagine it gets too busy. The bread the used for my sandwich was bad though. Pretty stale.

I've used this particular pharmacy (Rite Aid, Burnt Tavern Road) for more than 15 years now and…read morethey have served me well. I'm not an "easy" customer. I have a chronic illness, I'm on 5 different prescription drugs as well as herbal/vitamin supplements, and I have lived out of state for 5 years and travel a lot for research. Ray, one of the two pharmacists, is fantastic. Not only will he answer your questions about drug interactions, but he will do so kindly. Laurie, one of the pharmacy techs, remembers me by name, always asks how I'm doing with school, and treats me like a person, not a number...which is hard to do in such a large chain, such as Rite Aid. I lived out of state for graduate school for 5 years and had to have several prescriptions transferred from an independent pharmacy called Gate City in NC to Brick Rite for those 5 years over fall/spring/and summer breaks. My prescriptions were always transferred promptly and cooperatively with the other pharmacy. There have been a few times where I have needed my prescriptions ordered (not in stock), and Rite Aid was prompt on making sure I received them on time. I'm also on a particular prescription that I cannot miss a day, and my doctor forgot to call in my prescription, but Rite Aid was fast to make sure I got my prescription as soon as she make the call at 8am...9am my prescription was ready. As with anything in life, communication is key. I have a pharmaceutical coupon that saves me A LOT of money on a brand name prescription. There have been a few times the pharm tech ringing me up forgot to apply it, but as soon as I reminded her, the coupon was applied. No big deal. Communication really goes a long way. Years ago, I was afraid of some strange symptoms I was experiencing and I couldn't get in touch with my doctor (it was a weekend), and Ray was able to answer questions I had, put me at ease, and saved me a trip to the E.R. Those were dark times for me and I have never forgot the patience that Ray demonstrated towards me. There is also a drive thru, and every time I stop by with my LARGE dog, Laurie gives him a big bone!! :) Of course with every pharmacy, there are drawbacks. I'm not a fan of the second pharmacist, I actually cannot remember his name. He's not friendly, but he seems to know his pharmacology. I reviewer below said he has a God complex... welcome to the world of doctors. He gets the job done, so I have no complaints against this pharmacist, I just ask for Ray if I have questions and avoid him ;) This review pertains only to the pharmacy.

You've heard the critique that sometimes a doctor needs to work on their bed side manner. Well,…read morehere the pharmacist is worthy of that critique. I went there yesterday for a flu shot. I'm not a fan of needles. When I told the pharmacist to not take it personally if I look away while she gives me the shot, she responded by calling me a baby. Simply put I don't like needles. I get the flu shot each year when I need it but I don't like to see it being done. While she gave the flu shot without technical complication, the statement by the pharmacist was a bit rude and insulting and uncalled for. You can have your opinions one way or another but that is not the right way to treats a patient or customer. I normally go across the street to the CVS because they know what they are doing and they treat their customers with courtesy, but on this occasion they were out of the flu vaccine. Little to say I will not return here in the future to deal with this pharmacist.

Searching for diesel fuel has been interesting…read more I used to use Hess Express quite a lot because they were consistent between locations. The other day, I saw diesel at another location and decided to stop at this one when I found it. Contrary to what I've found at other stations, the green handle was not the diesel, but gasoline. The diesel pump was orange, which stands out since Hess is green-themed. The attendant came to the car, and I handed him the card and he swiped, started the pump, and returned my card to me. He apparently had every pump under his control, but it wasn't too long of a wait. Besides that, he was friendly. Inside, the rest room wasn't bad, and they had 2 for specials on some items.

I had all but forgotten about this Hess location, despite it being down the street from me, albeit…read morea bit out of the way from any of my daily routines. That was all until I realized last night that I had sucked my tank nearly dry, with the idiot light brightly warning me of my imminent doom. I honestly wasn't a huge fan of this station in previous years - it was tiny, dirty, had a really small store, and an older lady who must have smoked 5 packs a day was one of the rudest people I'd had to deal with at a gas station. Remembering that they recently went through a HUGE renovation, I limped over with what must have been a cup of diesel in my tank. Wow. The renovations done here were great! Brightly lit at night, clean, tons of pumps, a decent (and clean) store, and most importantly friendly staff. It doesn't hurt that the fuel prices were relatively low either. I feel weird reviewing a gas station, but frankly this is one of the better ones in the area. In fact, with how much I loathe the Hess on Rt 70, I'll probably just go here in the mornings if I need gas - despite it being out of the way by a mile or so.
