We utilized their services of the storage pods and would absolutely recommend it to anyone seeking a similar need and not wanting to drive it yourself. We packed up our belongings in a pod on Monday and it was delivered in our driveway on Friday. Only downside (which is minor) is you need to get your things to the terminal station first; there's not an option to have the pod delivered to your address. It worked for us since we had so little to move.

Instead of taking a chance on the weather and driving a U-Haul with a car carrier cross country, I had them deliver my items and I was able to comfortably drive my own car to WI. The freight trailer got here 3 days after I arrived, I was still getting caught up and adjusted so they were wonderful working with me on the unload time I initially had to get my items out. Not only were they cheaper than U-Haul and me doing the move myself but the customer service I received from the time of set up (in CA), throughout the move and all the way till the end (in WI) was extremely exceptional! The movers put everything up front in the storage area and piled things 6 feet high up front so you can't even get into the area. I was over charged and Nick in the office fixed that immediately. Then, after the floors were refinished, we needed the movers to move everything back to its original locations. The third or fourth call I made was to Jean at A-1. The first thing I noticed was she actually answered the phone. With everyone else I had to leave a message. The second thing, again, unlike her competitors, was that she set up an appointment to come to our home to get a sense of the job and to give us an estimate. She showed up on time and gave us an estimate while she was here. What she charged was more than fair, and again, better than her competitors. On the first moving day, the movers, Mike and Max, couldn't have been more professional, more efficient, or nicer. They performed their jobs and were extremely careful in doing it. Two weeks later, they returned, again on time, to move everything back. They were exceptionally careful - again. This was even more important because of our newly finished floors. They made sure that all furniture they moved, before they moved it, had protective cushions on the bottoms to avoid any scratching of our floors. The invoicing was easy, everything was easy with these people. But all one had to do was to initially spend thirty seconds on the phone with Jean to realize that her company was going to be loaded with people who knew what they were doing and did so with a very pleasant demeanor. These people were outstanding, and should I have any future moving needs, Long's A-1 will be the only call I make. I cannot recommend them enough.

Jason (manager) came prior to the move to give me an estimate, Gabe and Randy (movers) arrived at 7:30 day of the move and had my apartment loaded up in two hours, drove to Chicago and had me unloaded here by 3:00. Smoothest move I have ever had and I have moved a LOT. I literally went out to dinner with friends that night - who feels up to that on move in day?!?! My husband and I were severely disappointed with this company, especially given that we saw many…read moregreat reviews here. First, they did arrive early which was fine, however only 2 people showed up when we were told 3 would be there. Ryan (owner) even said during the day that they planned on 3 but he didn't think it was necessary and only brought 2--they ended up being at our house for 7ish hours which threw off our whole day when we were planning for 3 people and for the day to be a lot shorter. We toured the house, they laid down the boxes on our floors, etc. Everything was good. We very clearly stated what was priority for them to load on the truck since we knew not everything was going to fit on the U-Haul we had rented--we just wanted them to get all the heavy things we would not easily be able to lift ourselves later on without their help. We stated these items numerous times then and later on throughout the day when we saw these items were still untouched. They confirmed they would get those items on the truck at some point. Later they stated that they "had" to disassemble my desk, which I stated to them I didn't care about. It was old and honestly I didn't care if it fell apart because I wanted to trash it anyway. They disassembled it, and when I asked, they said there would be no charge. Great, I thought! I had to leave about half-way through the day to leave for the long drive to our new home so that my child could nap in the car. Before I left, I clearly asked Ryan if there would be any additional fees, and he clearly stated no, they would just charge what was quoted. Great, I thought again! Because they had, at that point, already disassembled the desk, used a lot of supplies, and even assisted us with the car trailer. All great stuff. They kept cruising along as I left. When I caught up with my husband later, I found out the unfortunate news that when he did see the truck full, they had still not touched any of the heavy stuff. They left behind nearly every single heavy item we had asked them to pack up. My husband didn't notice or think to keep an eye on them because he was busy with other things around the house and we had already asked them numerous times to take care of them. It was quite frustrating because that meant we had to figure it out ourselves later on. Then came the invoice a few days later. We noticed that we were indeed charged an extra $150 fee for "added items" of which included extra supplies, desk disassembly, and assistance with the car trailer--all of which Ryan assured me was not going to be charged. This was incredibly disappointing. I emailed them to ask why, especially because Ryan very clearly told me ahead of time that they would not charge me this AFTER they had already done these things, and I was given quite a poor response. Ryan flat out asked me for a 5-star review early that morning, and, I'm sorry Ryan, if you had provided a better email response at least attempting to resolve the $150 fee, perhaps you would have gotten something better. If you have gotten this far, then I highly suggest you look elsewhere for your moving needs, otherwise you will be stuck with a company that will find ways to charge you extra fees, only cares about their reviews, and at the end of the day doesn't really care about what you actually need out of your move. Please find someone else that can better suit your needs and truly cares about you.

We had plenty of things we had to have wrapped with blankets. Nothing was damaged on our 140 mile trip. Because we had to add a trailer there was no way I felt comfortable driving the load so Sam offered to drive the truck from Green Bay to Oregon,WI. He met us at the home and carefully backed the truck & trailer so both were door accessible without disconnecting the trailer. Skilled driver! I would highly recommend Sam and his crew to assist you. The truck was packed full and nothing shifted! Nothing damaged. Our family and friends who helped us unload said whoever packed this truck were skilled loaders. It was packed like a jigsaw puzzle. Michael and Joe were both professional and friendly. I will definitely use them again, but definitely not through uhaul. That process was such a pain that I believe some of the previous negative reviews were more a result of the uhaul site. We will be contacting them directly moving forward.
