After evaluating my son Dr. Daisy confirmed that his vision was fine, but she was worried that the headaches were being caused by weak eye muscles and thought he could possibly benefit from vision therapy. She gave us some exercises to try at home, but recommended we also look into vision therapy. I did a little research on where people go for vision therapy (who knew there was such a thing?) and made an appointment here for an evaluation at Vision Rehabilitation. We saw Dr. Sorensen in April for a longish (1.5 hours?) appointment which my son didn't seem to mind. At the end she did confirm he would benefit from 16 weeks of vision therapy to strengthen his eye muscles and would also help him from losing his place when reading etc. I asked for a report that I could read thru and possibly use for school accommodations. She promised to get it to me within 2 weeks. 2 months later I realized I never got the report so I followed up and recently received it, which was helpful to pass along to my son's teacher. The thought of adding another weekly appt to my busy kids schedule right now didn't seem appealing so I figured I"d call back in the spring to get this going in the summer. At my son's recent physical our pediatrician recommended we get a second opinion from Lurie before starting the therapy so we just booked with the Dr. he recommended for this coming April (the soonest we could get in). And from there we'll decide on next steps for vision thearpy. If you don't want to go to Lurie overall we had a good experience with this office and Dr. Sorenson seemed to pretty knowledgeable.

In the past I've gone to America's Best in Niles and the Michigan Avenue Rosin Eyecare. Let's just say, for various reasons, I got bad vibes from both businesses. The thing I hated the most was my prescription always seemed to be incorrect and the contact fitting was consistently very uncomfortable. The doc at Vista Eye Center is so thorough with the exam and fittings. The staff seems genuinely nice and upbeat. I don't feel like they hate me because my prescription is so crazy and complicated and have to come in multiple times for a follow up. The office is small, not ever too busy and has a sort of hip yet down-to-earth ambiance, if that makes any sense. 5 stars woo!

Not only does he always get my prescription right the first time but what he charges is significantly less than any of the big chains. For example, 8 months ago I went in for an eye exam and purchased a new pair of designer glasses from him. I don't have any type of vision insurance anymore because my employer discontinued that from our health plan, so it's all out of pocket. When it was all said and done, he charged me less than 1/2 of what I paid at LensCafters the last time I purchased glasses, when I DID have vision care on my insurance! Then 8 months goes by and my dog chewed up my glasses. I went in to order a new pair (expecting to pay full price) and he set me up with a new pair of glasses and gave them to me at HIS cost! I guarantee that none of the other big chains would do that for a customer. He's a great optometrist and a very reputable businessman. He's been at this a long time and I can tell you that he is a really nice person and will go out of his way to ensure that you are a satisfied customer. I'd absolutely recommend him.

One of my friends mentioned she had a great consultation with Dr. Tamara Fountain about a lower blepharoplasty so I decided to do the same. I also noticed that she was highly recommended on a fb group i had joined all about blepharoplasty, although the pics of people post surgery on that fb group were enough to make me want to cancel my appointment. I was able to get an appointment a few weeks after calling. Her office is conveniently located near my house, which I liked since the other doctors i was referred to were in the city or far suburbs. I was seen within minutes of arriving for my appointment. They did an eyesight test which i wasn't expecting and didn't put my contacts in that morning (and my glasses were in the car). So i highly recommend bringing any corrective eyewear you have. Dr. Fountain did a great job of explaining why i have bags (thank you genetics). She then told me she didn't think I needed surgery for many years and I really appreciated her honesty. She did show me some more post surgery pics to properly scare me about future surgery, but I do appreciate knowing what I would be getting myself into. She suggested looking into med spa treatments and even gave me some names (one located within her office) and said to come back years from now...and in the meantime to send my mom. :) Overall, I was really impressed with the way she explained everything and her honesty.
