I brought my elderly cat for a grooming to get alliance literally looks like a 12-year-old did it with scissors tops of hair falling off cut too short hair left too long looks nothing like what I expected and I've had done the past granted he was mad at it in a few areas, but that's is there very unhappy as I spoke to the owner Linda she did stick up staff why I don't an excuse a reason for everything basically saying when he got to his head which wasn't he became more difficult and I asked the groomer. She said yes he was more difficult when we got to the topnever mention that he was trying to bite her. This is what the owner said. I found it hard to believe they couldn't handle a 7 pound cat. The customer service skills are have left such a shame. Anyway, I'll never go back as I was a regular with my other and I will inform all my friends and family. Also not to go there. It's my only recourse. All I want was an apology and an to redo them which I wouldn't and went back anyway it's the principal of it all all that for $100 unbelievably pathetic customer service issue read more

My 2 year old cat had never been groomed before. We tried at home and it was a battle so we immediately gave up. I made an appointment with Kozy Kennels because they're one of the few places in the area that'll groom cats. I dropped my cat off at 9am and she was done being groomed within an hour. She's a long haired calico tiger and had some mats on her back - so I went with the lion cut. I LOVE it... she's so soft, clean and I think she feels better. Sue left a bob on her tail and trimmed up a little mane for her. We couldn't be happier and will be returning when it grows out in a few months! I think the price is reasonable for how difficult it is to groom a cat! read more

I have brought my dog here three times for grooming. I understand that because he is a golden doodle his fur is harder to maintain, however the groomer puts in absolutely no effort. I specifically say every single time do not shave all of his hair off. The groomer interrupts and talks over me whenever I try to speak and says that she'll try her best not to shave him but there are no promises. The last time I picked up my dog he was completely shaved to his skin with the exception of his ears and tail. This time, after asked to not cut his body AT ALL, he came out completely shaved, ears and all. This groomer disregards any requests from pet owners and instead shaves him because, frankly, I believe she does not want to put the effort in to fully groom the dog. He is also a very loving dog, has never snapped or even growled at anyone before and when the groomer went to reach for him today, he was aggressive. That should have been the first warning and he should've been taken home at that point. Lesson learned. Never returning read more

In August, the groomer failed to groom our cat and they charged it to us ($50) when we boarded him for 5 nights ($150) at Kozy Kennels. They acknowledged the error and assured us they would credit us for his next groom. We boarded him last week for 6 nights ($180) and in advance I emailed and then separately reminded them of the grooming credit. They acknowledged and at no time did they indicate disagreement (nor would I expect them to). However, my husband picked him up on Monday and they in fact charged us ($50) again for grooming. The only reasons for two stars was the price should be good. Unfortunately,they turned out Golden retriever into a lab look alike. Cut her hair like a wiffle. It's 32 degrees out. I just started taking my 2 Shih Tzu's here. I've had only very positive experience. Angie is great! Not only does she make them look fabulous, she's ask you how do you liked it and if there needs to be any tweaking and she runs on time, plus she's super friendly and makes a connection with my dogs so they're happy to to follow her in, which didn't happen at my last groomers. They were always resistant to go in. So that's why I switched. I'm so happy I found her! read more

I had to be away from my puppy for a week, it was the first time he ever needed to stay at a kennel. Let me tell you, the staff is just so friendly and wonderful! They were great at letting me know exactly what I needed and THEY got all the paperwork my puppy needed straight from his vet without the hassle of me making phone calls. They allowed me to bring my puppy's fave toys. The price is also very very reasonable. The facility is clean and they are located right next to a vet clinic so I know if anything happened he would be ok and recieve the proper care. I called almost everyday to see how he was and the staff never once got annoyed with me asking a dozen questions. At the end of our trip I recieved 3 emails and 3 voicemails (while on the plane) from the staff to ensure me my puppy was ok. Now that's great service. My puppy was safe and super happy when I picked him up. Could not be happier, I would definitely use their service again. read more

I know that I will need boarding for my two pups next month, so I started the search for a great boarding facility. Due to the great reviews on here, I decided to check out Kozy Kennels but was horribly disappointed with atrocious customer service. On Monday I sent an email to clarify their hours. I explained I would like to come in for a quick tour but wanted to verify their closing time. I received an email back stating that they close at 5pm on Mondays. So, I left work an hour and a half early to go check it out. I arrived at 4:40 and the door was locked. Since I had to leave work early to get there before their 5pm closing time, I called to see if anyone was in the building and to my surprise a lady answered. Here is our conversation: Me: Hi, I was wondering if you are still open? Lady: No, we are closed. Me: Well, I'm actually outside because I thought you were open till 5pm. Lady: We are all done taking boarders for the day but you can come back tomorrow. Me: No, I can't just come back tomorrow - I had to leave work early to get here before 5pm today. And I'm not looking for boarding today. I just wanted a quick look around your facility. Lady: We don't give tours after 4pm. Me: Great. Thanks. (that's all I could muster without being incredibly rude.) The next day (yesterday) I replied to the email they sent me stating that they close at 5pm and politely explained that I wish that they were more clear in their email. I clearly stated in my email to them that I was looking for a tour and at no time did they say I would need to be there by 4pm to get one. I waited another 24 hrs before writing this review. I was hoping that they would acknowledge the incident and give some sort of apology... but I have yet to get a response. If you do decide to check this place out - be very specific. Personally, I will never use them for boarding or grooming services. This customer service experience was deplorable. This is NOT the type of company I would ever support. read more

If I could give negative reviews I would. We brought my golden in for grooming said clean her up maybe take off half her hair as a hair cut and she came out with HALF A INCH of hair! They also cut her and she was bleeding and couldn't admit to it they just said it's a scratch it's a scratch. she is uneven not to mention you ever shave a golden down like that. The groomer was so rude and unprofessional I could hear her talking smack in the back cause I was unhappy with her work well yes you destroyed my goldens beautiful coat and cut her. She lied saying her bum was already cut she didn't touch it which she did and nicked her there too. Once I showed the owner of what she looked like before they cut her she refunded me which I am still waiting on. I will never be back there and I hope their groomer goes to school for grooming cause she has no clue what she's doing. Awful I'm sick to my stomach. read more

As far as my dog's stay at this kennel, I have no issues. However, while they are quick to give you the 10% new customer discount, they do NOT mention the 10% senior discount on their website. So, I think they are a "little" sketchy and not forthcoming with that information at the kennel when you show up...after two trips, I picked up on it and they basically said too bad, and were not willing to put it towards a future stay. While they say that they don't ask your age, they do want a driver's license as ID, which "happens" to have your DOB on it....So, that being said, I would say that they lost a customer on that count. read more

This should really be two/three separate reviews. Customer service would be a 1 star or zero stars. We were faced with an emergency situation and had to board our 4 babies. The staff was not welcoming or friendly. They said they would provide pictures and we didn't receive 1 photo in 18 days. Picking up our babies the staff was unwelcoming and totally flat. They weren't helpful and didn't even get up. Didn't direct me in anyway. Conversation appeared to be difficult with the staff. Appeared happy for our family to be gone. The facility itself would be a 4:5 star. Very very clean and not afraid to have us see the accommodations on drop off. It did feel very shelter like, but odor free and spotless. The grooming was well worth it.... 5 star! The groomer was very nice and polite. The groomer offered to assist with bringing the dogs to the van. Our dogs were so clean. This is not an easy task. 2 of our 4 dogs have anxiety. My little (long haired) dog had matting because he is too stressed to be groomed. She did and he looks amazing. It's a shame that the customer service is so disgusting because I otherwise would recommend this kennel. However, when your pets mean the world to you, the most important thing is to be comfortable they are being well cared for. I left questioning how my babies were treated or were they neglected for 18 days (nuisances?). read more

Might be great for boarding, but when you leave your pup there for the day for grooming, they are not provided water or a potty break. We have brought our dog here for grooming four times. After today, we have decided to go elsewhere. The grooming rates are reasonable, but the treatment of our pup is just not up to par. In the past, we have tried to get her in for Saturday appointments so that we can pick her up as soon as she is finished. Today she was stuck there all day, because we were working. When I dropped her off, I requested that they bring her out to pee after she was groomed, because baths make her anxious. The groomer said that that was not standard practice, but after a second request, she said they would. When we picked her up, it was clear that she was not given the chance to pee. And when we got her home she ran to her water bowl like she hadn't seen it in a year. It's too bad. The groomer, Sue, is very nice. I just don't care for the way they run things. read more

My experience was horrible. I have a long haired cat and I asked that he receive a teddy bear cut. I was told he was a cat not a dog,and they did not do special cuts. I paid for a $70 hair cut plus $14 tip. I dropped him off at 8 am and got a call he was ready at 10am.I couldn't take him out of the crate to see his cut because there were other cats roaming free. When I got him home I realized he hardly appeared to have had a hair cut. They didn't even shave down his private area ,like I asked.I emailed Sue and she told me a few days later I could bring him back. I did and they shaved his back area down but looked sloppy. We have a small terrier mix rescue who is nervous by nature but he doesn't mind going to he groomed at Kozy Kennels AT ALL! All the staff there is wonderful and Gumbo always comes out happy and looking great. I wouldn't think of taking my dog anywhere else for grooming and if I ever had to board him or my two kitties I would leave them in the capable hands of the great people at Kozy Kennels in a heartbeat! read more

I had read all the reviews and decided to try the grooming services. My dog is a doodle and I have to say they have no idea how to do a doodle cut. Before I brought my dog in, I combed him all over to ensure there were no knots or tangles. I am horrified with the haircut, his face was shaved including his whiskers (which you are not supposed to do) and other areas of his body are patchy where it seems the groomer took the easy way out, and just shaved instead of combing through and cutting. I had brought him there once before and they did a decent enough job, not great, but not bad. Its local so that's why I went back. I will never go back again. I just dropped him off at his boarding, and a number of people working there asked me what happened him! They said it's the worst haircut they've ever seen on a doodle. I have been going there for around 25 years and drive 30 minutes to get there for monthly grooming for my dog Gizmo, Emily Houdini, Templar, Cammie. Emily Houdini was 20.5 when she died and I would not take any of my dogs anywhere else! The place is spotless, there is never any smell, they do a great job and my dog comes out happy! i have been using Kozy Kennels for several years, to board/groom my dog and 2 cats, the staff there has always been wonderful, even with my diabetic cat, which i realize when he boards is not the easiest to maintain his eating and medications. As for this terrible review from Kristin with her cat which it appears she knew her cat was unwell before her much needed vacation, she should have boarded her cat at her veterinarian if she knew there may be problems. It may be more costly but the vet was probably more suited for her sick pet. rather than blaming others for something she was aware to be an issue. myself, i would have cancelled my trip! read more

This has always been a great place to have my dogs stay. Used them for years. They have great accommodations and the price is reasonable. They also offer grooming. The only drawback is the limited drop off and pick up times, but that has never caused a problem for me. read more

She is always well treated, well groomed and well taken care of. Sue has been a great groomer for this whole time. i have been using Kozy Kennels for years, through several pets, past and present. Could not find a better place to have my beloved pets, a cat and a dog come stay. My crazy yellow lab barks with excitement upon arrival at the kennel, barely giving me the chance to say goodbye. When I pick my pets up from their vacation they are always happy, they get a great grooming and they smell wonderful! Having a vet on the premise give me assurance that if needed my pets, who are like children are looked after even more. Great friendly staff! read more

I took my kitty to Kozy Kennels to get her nails clipped. The woman at the front desk first took us to a small room crowded with cages of small dogs barking and yapping. I asked her for more quiet place to clip my already nervous cat's claws and she then took us to the kitchen area, pushed back a number of bags of food and spread a towel on the counter. She cut the first nail too short and it bled. When I asked her why she cut it so short she replied that it was too long. (Well, I wouldn't have taken my cat in to have her nails clipped if they hadn't needed it!) After 5 more nails, she again cut one so short that it bled. At that point I'd had it. This kitty has white nails and there is no problem seeing where the quick begins. The woman never even apologized! I would never go there again, nor would I recommend it to anyone. read more

Have boarded dogs here in the past and did again recently. Attending an out-of-state wedding and needing a place to board our dog, we returned to Kozy Kennels. Our dog was dropped off early on a Friday morning and picked up on the Monday holiday, and his stay was very reasonably priced. They accept LARGE breeds which is great for us! Smaller dogs are placed always from larger dogs, and each dog has their own crate with an individual attached run. Very accomadating to dogs with special needs or diets and allow you to accompany your pet to the back when they're being dropped off or picked up! It was the first time this dog was being kenneled for a trip, so naturally I was nervous, and the staff were understanding and helpful when I called to check on him like a nervous mother! They will groom your pet during their stay and there is a vet on the property that does daily rounds to check on all of the boarders! Highly recommend this kennel for pet owners! read more

What a great place. We called at the last minute and were able to get our dog Bailey in for the weekend boarding and a grooming. I like the fact that the ladies at Kozy Kennels will just call over to the Mansfield Animal Hospital and gather the latest paperwork needed to make sure all my pets shots are up to date and any paperwork they may need is transferred without any issues. I paid exactly what I thought I would have to pay, based on the rates they have listed on the Kozy Kennels website. My dog is a golden rescue and I know she can be difficult. She doesn't like to get picked up or meet new people and I fully expected to have to pay a little extra for her being a bit "difficult" but to my surprise the ladies let me know that my girl was fine and behaved well. I like their policy of throwing in the day of pickup boarding if you have your dog groomed there, it made for a stress free pickup. I boarded my cat for a little over a week this year. When I went to pick her up, the staff told me that she wasn't very friendly and had been hissing at the staff. I've never had this problem before with her when she was boarded. They asked me to come pick her out of the kennel since she was not friendly and when we walked into the cat room, their was a dog around the corner that was barking incessantly. I asked if dogs were supposed to be in the room, and the vet replied that it was her dog and he doesn't bark all the time. I called later to discuss my disappointment and was told that she would mark my file so the dog wasn't in there next time. My advice to you is not to take your cat there if it doesn't like dogs - because the vet likes to keeping her barking dog in the room. I would expect the vet to be more concerned for the well-being of the boarded cats. read more
