This is our favorite spot for sweet treats. Always friendly and fast! Their ice cream is very reminiscent of Dairy Queen soft serve...it's nearly identical, which I love. Excellent blizzard-esque (I forgot what they call them) treats, banana splits, and dilly bar type desserts, but my favorite is the frozen dipped bananas. They use local apple bananas and you can't beat the .89 cent price point. They can also roll them in mac nuts for extra crunch and flavor. Went last night, drive-thru was busier than normal. Ordered curry stew bowl and beef stew bowl, cashier confirmed our order. Pulled up to the window and was informed they were out of white rice if we wanted brown rice. WTH? They all of a sudden out of rice. Poor planning and communication between front servers and back kitchen cookers? I mean who runs out of rice? And this was at 7pm. I've always loved Kozmic Kones since when it was still Dairy Queen. Plate lunches are good, but I typically order a double cheeseburger deluxe with a burrito snack. Definitely not healthy, but they are yummy. Many I'd the Dairy Queen desserts are sold, but with different names. read more

When you want to eat a plate lunch and fast, this is the place to go. I love their Teri hamburger and chicken katsu. Prices are cheap. I love drive in type of places for fast food over McDonald's or Burger King. This place has awesome sundaes, blizzards, and slush floats too if you have a sweet tooth. read more

Only been here twice in the past 8 years. I live Kona side so I never really stop by Kozmic Cones. BUT both times Ive been here, I wasnt disappointed. I havent tried their plate lunches or food but both times I've been, I got the oreo cookie cone, SO GOOD!!!!! Next time I go Hilo Ill def have to try their food. Also, it's dine in or drive-thru so thats a plus. Theres a large mural inside with ufos which was cool. Pretty speedy service too. Will be back =) read more

I am from Iowa and my kids and I were looking for a dairy queen. However Hilo doesn't have one. This was a nice pleasant surprise. I love the soft serve. I got the nutty cone. It was good but you have to eat it fast or it will melt unless you ask for a complimentary glass. It was delicious and hit the spot. read more

Got two cones, a chocolate dipped and an Oreo dipped one. I've never had a chocolate dipped cone that didn't burst at the seams and this was no exception, leaking from the second we got it. The Oreo dipped one was very tasty except when it got to the cone. The cone tasted like it was layered in salt and I nearly threw up eating it. They're named Kozmic Cone and boast a sign with an ice cream cone, but they literally don't have real ice cream.... carrying only one flavor (vanilla), which is also soft serve, I was mostly disappointed by this false advertising. We didn't try the meals since we were there looking for ice cream. The soft serve cone itself wasn't bad, but you could get the same thing but larger and cheaper at McDonalds. They have a couple toppings to put on the soft serve (and in shakes) so at least there's that. Shakes are a good size. Wanted to like you. read more

So originally I was going to rate this a 3, but then read the reviews for melon freeze and chili and decided to try them before rating it. My belly is full and I'm glad I gave them another chance. The freeze float is soft serve ice cream with slushy, I got the melon and it was good. It was almost as good as a Melona ice cream bar, but not quite. Hawaii sells Melona ice cream bars and a few Asian stores in the San Fran Bay Area, this taste very similar. Overall I was happy with it and ate it almost all before my food came out. Today the special was chili and fried chicken and it comes standard with rice and potato Mac salad. The chili was really sweet chili, which is how I make it and love, you could taste the sugar. To me it was better than the ice cream. I had the fried chicken last week and even though the flavor was hot you could tell it wasn't perfectly fresh or hot, that was not the case today. It was hot, buttery crispy skin with a sweet hint. It was delicious. I don't like their potato Mac salad at all, but my dogs enjoy that I don't like it :) I got the curry stew a month or do ago and I was shocked my bag weighed between 3-5 pounds, no joke. Good, but lots of fat. Oh and my box today probably weighed a good 3 pounds. Tons of food! read more

As a work of kozmic cones our food is one of the best our ice cream is also one of the best in town.. we clean our machines unlike McDonald's we actually take it apart.. our orbits we cut our candies fresh we don't get it pre cut or what not. Even our strawberries we cut it and mix it for the sundae topping.. where else can u get a cone rolled in macnuts, Oreos, sprinkles even better yet dipped in chocolate then rolled in those.. Food was about to be as good as expected. Fast service and for the most part pretty clean in such a high traffic area.

Ordered the melon freeze and it was terrible. I expected slush, but instead, we got green melon tasting foam.
