Kouzena 220 is a great spot to eat Mediterranean right downtown Racine! I have only had take out, and ordered the Gyro dinner with Spanikopita and it's been amazing! I absolutely love it, and highly recommend it! The decor on the inside is super cute and welcoming, so at some point I'll try dining in! But for now, the food is amazing and you should give it a try! read more

Not having much time, but really wanting something Greek, I stopped at Kouzena for Aveglemono Soup and Spanakopita. There were only three of us in the restaurant at 1:00 p.m., but the service was excellent and the preparation of the food was very good. The menu is not large, but I'm thankful to find a Greek restaurant in the area. Milwaukee has lost its Greek restaurants (Avli being a bit trendy and an exception). The many Greek family restaurants have a few Greek offerings, but places like Mykonos and Greek Island are long gone. read more

The food and service are always great! Wonderful lamb dishes and the Avgolemono soup is my favorite.

I had high hopes for this place, but it really fell short. When I got my order, I was shocked by how tiny the portions were for the price. Still, I stayed optimistic, hoping the food would at least be flavorful but unfortunately, it wasn't. Everything was very bland and definitely overpriced for what you get. The rice pudding was actually delicious, but it came in a tiny sauce sized cup. The lemon potatoes were also tasty, but we only got three small pieces, which felt more like a garnish than an actual side. Overall, it felt like we ordered sample sizes of two full dinners and two sides but paid around $55. If you come here with a big appetite, you'll likely leave disappointed. read more

The saganaki was spot on. The moussaka was beautiful and had wonderful texture but could have used a bit more seasoning. The egg soup was delicious and hot. Get the Greek red wine, a real pleasure. We walked by on our way to another restaurant. Peeked inside. Layout and decor is super cute. The menu was all Greek. I'm not into Greek food, but the rest of the group were fans and curious--the charming atmosphere totally sold it. I'm so glad I followed the group--the food was A-MAZING! What a great addition to the food scene in Racine! We started things off with the meze plate appetizer. There are two sizes: $6 or $10. Before I tell you how delicious this dish is, I can't help but mention how reasonably priced it is! You get three kinds of hummus, pita for dipping, cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, pepperocinis, and feta. The smaller option is plenty for two people as an appetizer and the $10 option is the perfect lunch-for-one size. The hummus is creamy and delicious, and I think the pita is homemade, yum! The chicken souvlaki sandwich is also super tasty. The chicken is marinated and grilled, served of course on that scratch made pita with tomatoes, onion, and tzatziki sauce. I've ordered this on two different occasions, it's the kind of dish you'll definitely want to come back for. They don't have a full bar yet, but they have wine or beer, which was fine for us. The service was AMAZING, the price is right, and the food is on point. Add Kouzena to your dining out rotation in Racine, you won't be sorry you did. read more

Very simple but delicious Greek food. They have delicious, fresh homemade soups and potato salad. Their chicken is juicy and moist. Their pitas are the best. I have never had a bad meal. Absolutely love eating there for lunch. Definitely worth visiting at least once. read more

Stopped in for lunch on a cold Tuesday. Asked for a coffee to start and received a freshly brewed cup in less than 5 minutes. Ordered the Greek salad with Gyro meat. The salad looked fantastic and large! Tasted even better. Fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, feta, spices...can't wait to go back to get another!! Being new to the area with a taste for a gyro, I wanted to try this place because it was 7mins from my house. The pita was PHENOMENAL -fresh, warm, and soft. The rest of the gyro was mediocre -I the meat seemed "mushy" not firm and "meaty"; I think the onions were pickled which I didn't care for, wish they were grilled instead. If the onions were not pickled, there was something going on with either the meat or the sauce that gave off that briny taste. I would have appreciated the taziki (sp?) was on the side so I could add to the other half of the sandwich later for dinner but a small amount along with a couple of small tomato slices were wrapped in the sandwich. Also, a choice of slaw or potato salad was offered, no fries. The person taking my order suggested the slaw and while it had potential to be decent, it was less than okay and was somewhat wilted. I took a couple of bites of what may have included cheese...or something and said "no thank you". I would probably go back for the pita bread to go and make chicken gyros on my own. read more

Since moving to Racine from the Chicago area, I've been saddened by the loss of authentic Greek food...Not Anymore! Kouzena has only been open for a few months and I suspect, much like myself, most locals have no idea it's there. I stumbled upon it when searching for an alternative to the usual fare (burgers, subs, pizza and tacos). Loved the gyros dinner with the spanakopita and Greek roasted chicken with oven roasted potatoes and egg lemon soup. We will be regulars! Please support locally owned businesses if you want more and better choices. Keep in mind they are only open till 7pm. read more

I had been looking at and wondering about the restaurant that was Acropolis. Then the article came out that Kouzena opening!! I was so excited to hear that someone from the family was opening up. I was not disappointed. We had the saganaki! Fun experience fabulous taste. My husband had a Gyro Dinner I had Pastisio. We both had the lemon rice soup. The soup was different than I remember but very good. The gyro was a generous portion. The pastitsio was amazingly delicious. Definitely had some baklava. All so fresh and tasty.
