Great restaurant on the near north side. I got a combo platter and everything was amazing. The catfish and wings were delicious. The fried okra was too good and I loved the baked beans. The service was quick. We came before a play and we got in and out in plenty of time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is very nice and modern. There are a ton of photos on the wall of famous people who have been there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You need to check out Kountry Kitchen.

Two of my sisters and my niece visited Kountry Kitchen for a meal after a meeting with Ms. Pat (catering manager). The food as usual was delish. Our fried chicken was cooked at the time order. So, it's always hot out of the pan. Seasoned to perfection! It takes 20-25 minutes but worth the wait. The cabbage and Mac and cheese were also very delicious! Southern Soul cooking at its finest. One of my sisters had the chicken and waffle board. She loved it so much, thus was her second order in a week. Portions are huge. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is very nicely decorated. It's very clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff is very friendly. We were greeting by everyone we saw. Our server, Mihi, was so professional and attentive but not overly. Their event space is extremely nice. Ms. Pat is a pleasure to work with. Definitely consider if you need a venue.

We had family in from LA, hungry for greens and so much more, so we requested a table of nine. Accommodations were made and both the meal, and service were exceptional! Kountry Kitchen is a soul food restaurant that has had a long history in Indy. Although the restaurant and event venue has been transformed inside and out, the food is still down home, good, southern cooking! Kountry Kitchen is a win-win!

Located on college avenue, which is about 2.7 miles from downtown Indianapolis. This is a must for authentic soul food! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Modern, upscale restaurants.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I highly recommend this she-crab bisque: creamy crab broth with generous chunks of real crab meat. Their signature dish: 6 hour oxtail dinner. Three large pieces o oxtail vertebrae, so juicy and the meat falls of the bone. I recommend the garlic mashed potatoes and grilled corn side dishes. It comes with a delicious piece of their signature cornbread.

This place is so GOOD! MUST GO if your in town! I had the combo Fried Chicken wings and smothered porkchop, cornbread dressing, candied yams and mash potatoes. The food did not disappoint!

First time trying out this legendary establishment and they did not disappoint. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's smaller than I thought it would be but has a nice welcoming ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff was nice , it was a little bit of a wait before someone took our order but food came out prettt quick. We had fried wings, catfish, which were both fried and seasoned to perfection, no sauce needed. Our sides were Mac n cheese which was extremely flavorful but just a little too salty. Sweet potatoes were perfectly pleasing and not overly sweet, collard greens and green beans which were also delicious. It also came with a huge piece of cornbread that was light and fluffy plus buttery. Washed it down with some of their very delicious homemade lemonade which I highly recommend. I will definitely be back when I need another soul food fix!!

We were in town for the State Fair and wanted something more like home style cooking. This was close to where we were staying and decided to give it a try. The service was good. We were provided multiple recommendations of entrees that are popular. We ordered: Ox Tail: classic roast vibes for sure Meatloaf: would order again Kids Chicken Wings I had a special lemonade/tea that was fantastic. Overall a good experience for soul/comfort food. The cornbread was slightly dry. I needed more butter to wash it down.

I enjoy going to Kountry Kitchen is very nostalgic. I used to go out somewhere when I was little with my family now I was an adult I go and I take friends that have never been there before and see how they like the food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is the first time I sat at the bar since they've been renovated and it was cool to go during lunch hours and we went on Juneteenth.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had a good selection of shows going on at the bar. They have a TV.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We also got to meet the bartender who was really nice. This is the first time I've tried the mashed potatoes and the cabbage. They were actually good. I enjoy how the mashed potatoes were nice amount of butter, not overly seasoned. My friend enjoyed the food as well especially the the greens. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only suggestion I would make would be if they had more seating inside of the restaurant that would increase more traffic flow and not feel like people are sitting on top of each other[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] but other than that, [[HIGHLIGHT]]I like how they expanded and other people are able to have functions on the other side of the building And also a nice balcony for the warmer climate months.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I promise I still want to love Kountry Kitchen, but today I said to my boyfriend, "I miss the pre-fire Kountry Kitchen". Man back then they brought out hot food and the customer service was unmatched. Today my food was BARELY warm, and the server completely got my boyfriend's meal wrong. Which we were pretty sure she was going to do becauae she was barely paying attention when taking our order. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The tables are way too close together to have any type of conversation not involving the next people[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and the service honestly is terrible. Today it was MiMi but in all the times we've been back since they reopened we have yet to be met with great or even good service. We always seem to be bothering them. They do have good meatloaf though.

Maybe the dining experience is better but I ordered delivery and was disappointed. The pics speak for themselves. I have the palette of a Michelin chef so there's not too many foods I do not like; but this was completely bland.

Stopped by without a reservation after an event at Indiana Landmarks (1201 Central Avenue). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Since they were getting ready for their busy dinner hour, I sat at the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've been here before and decided to try the fried pork chops today. My side items are the yams and green beans. There's a bread choice of dinner roll or cornbread. I chose the cornbread

Bacon making class: overall I am glad I did the class, but think there are some things that could change. The information provided at the beginning of the class didn't flow the best, and used a lot of terms I didn't understand- knowing your audience is important. We were told we would get 1.5lbs bacon, and .5lbs bacon bits. When picking up the bacon, we only got the bacon, and none of the bits. This needs to be updated on the class description. Sandwiches: we tried a goose, and a batalli. The goose was good- nothing spectacular. I was a fan of the batalli- nice amount of mayo, appropriate spice, and good amount of meat/cheese. Would definitely get the batalli next time. Overall, I enjoy the sandwiches, think the sandwich class could be improved.

It's counter service with clear menu boards on the wall, making ordering easy. I had the cheesy jalapeño grits with bacon and an egg and... my goodness. So incredibly delicious. One friend ordered the same grits but swapped in fried catfish instead of bacon--also a fantastic choice. Our third went with a classic plate with eggs and bacon, and let me tell you, the bacon is thick and plentiful. We ordered a side of fries for the table and there were more than enough to share. Self-serve coffee with all the fixings is a nice touch, and the service was friendly and welcoming. Fun atmosphere, great food, solid portions--definitely will be back.

The food just needed a little fine-tuning to really shine. The catfish seemed to have a beer-battered coating that felt a little soft and held onto some extra moisture instead of having that classic light crunch. I would love a bit more flavor baked right into the waffle and biscuit dough--though the gravy flavor was definitely a win! Also, the grits lean heavy into jalapeno notes rather than a creamy, cheesy base. It's such a cute venue with great energy, and a few little kitchen adjustments could make it amazing!
