Western sandwich and spinach mushroom omelette. Yummy!
Mel C.

Great neighbourhood diner. Lots of fun ambiance and nostalgia on the walls. Super friendly staff too. We appreciated the hospitality of Lauren given we'd never been here before. Had delicious omelette with home fries and Western sandwich (hubbies usual). Highly recommend this place!

Smoked salmon eggs Benedict and Kotsy egg Benedict

My favorite breakfast spot! It's nothing fancy, but the vibes are always great. The service is attentive and kind, and the food is consistently delicious. I ordered the smoked salmon eggs Benedict, and my boyfriend had the Kotsy Benedict--we both loved our meals. We've been coming here for the past five years, and the food has always been consistently good. The coffee is also made just right every time. And the portion never changes. The interior is unique compared to other breakfast places--it has an old-fashioned diner feel but also somehow modern. Despite how busy it gets, the wait for food is never long, and the servers never forget about you! If you're looking for a great breakfast spot, this is the place!

Long weekend means no specials, might as well go to where we normally don't go, if we're paying full price anyway! Warm service and very reasonable prices. I really enjoyed my western omelette, hubby was soso on his club house sandwich. He says it was too salty and the processed cheese was not a good ingredient. Cute, old school seating and atmosphere. Washrooms could use a reno/glow-up. Parking is plentiful!

A bot bad place, first time here but apparently been open for years. The place was extremely busy which was shocking, but good for them, seems like they have a lot of regulars. Their portions are big, but the taste isn't what you're used to...it tasted like everything is fried with pure lard not your typical frying oil, which is not that good, adds that flavour but too heavy for a morning breakfast/brunch. Service is very bad, older ladies trying to serve a full house while keeping sane, doesn't work out too well! I don't think i'll come back, but the place was ok to try once.. I'll stick to my better local options

Service was extremely quick on a Sunday around noon, even though the place was pretty much packed. Prices are reasonable, ordered a standard breakfast with 3 eggs, 4 strips of bacon, home fries and toast for 9.99. (6.99 if you arrive before 11am). Our server was always around to pour refills for coffee. Noticed only 1 working TV out of the 3 in the restaurant. The other 2 were frozen on the screen. But not a big deal if you're just coming for food!

Pancakes (undercooked but yummy) included in the big breakfast

Great price, great breakfast If you're looking for an old school, 50s style diner this is the place. You get a good breakfast at a reasonable price surrounded by memorabilia! We sat at Goofy's Garage booth, but could've been the Blvd of Dreams or RocknRoll Ave right next to us! At 2 on a Wed it was quite empty, and service was pretty good considering it seemed one lady attended all the tables. I just got a milkshake (strawberry) which was REALLY sweet, but the bf is a child so he loved it. He got the big breakfast (photos attached) and it's a great size for $13 only complaint was the delicious pancakes were undercooked-eeek. But otherwise an awesome time! I highly recommend as good value for money!

Such a cute place! When you walk in you get a 60s vibe! It's lovely! There is a lot to choose from on the menu I ordered the big breakfast and it was filling, came with eggs, bacon, sausages home fries, ham, toast and buttermilk pancakes. The waitress was very nice and it wasn't crowded at all. I saw a guy talking on the phone while he was making our pancakes... (phones are very unsanitary) The toast was a little burnt but the rest of the food was great though.

Typical diner style, reasonably priced and good quality. Service was fast and they weren't bothered by my noisy kids.

The fish and chips are solid choices and they live up to their name. A good amount of chips that come with the meal. I think for the price we were a bit disappointed by the quantity of the calamari and for the chicken souvlaki, a bit sad looking (see pic) and not as flavourful or just below par. Definitely skip the souvlaki here and get what they're known for. Plenty of seating inside the restaurant. However, we just ordered for takeout.

I said ok no problem Upon my food arriving it was pretty small ( look at pic). And I would have given a 1 star review But I must say the halibut (even though miniature in size) was actually crispy and flavourful and even though I didn't take a picture, the fish was pretty thick. Therefore my reason for 3 stars. Also, the fries were not quite right for a fish and chips shoppe. Either they were frozen or they were re-cooked for too long and they were hard, bland and tasteless. I will still keep my review at 3 stars. But I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. Sorry, hope they can do better for other patrons.

Finally, fish and chips are back in Stouffville!…read more I've been to Joy's Fish & Chips a few times since they opened mid-2024. I've eaten in and taken out, both of which were mostly positive experiences. The service is consistently friendly and pleasant to interact with. It feels like everyone genuinely enjoys working here, which is a big difference maker. The only minor issue is when dining in. In the first few months of being open I find that the restaurant is often packed and service can be a bit slow (as of December 2024). Other than that, service has been fantastic. As I mentioned earlier, the restaurant often seems busy if you're dining in. However, since I live so close I prefer to take out. As of now they don't have any delivery services but if you're willing to pick up for yourself they're pretty quick. I've had big orders that's I've called in and told it would be ready in 20 min. When I go to the restaurant and order (a smaller order) it's only usually about 10-15 minutes even when the restaurant is packed. The food is very, very good! The fish is battered and cooked to order, which you can see for yourself from the takeout counter. It has a delicious crispy batter while the fish stays moist. The fries (chips) are nice and thick and perfectly fried. My only minor complaint is that the fries need more salt. But that's something I can add myself. I've also tried their scallops and shrimp. Both are really good but not quite the same level of their fish. While I don't know if they're battered to order, they're still juice and fried perfectly. Worth trying! Lastly, I just wanted to mention parking. They have a few parking spots to the right of the building, which is perfect for takeout since the takeout entrance on the right side of the building. They have a few parking spots in front and then also quite a spots to the left of the building. Plenty of parking! Overall, I'm super happy Joy's Fish & Chips! I've been going fairly regularly and I've only had great experiences.

Haddock & Chips order had an impressively sized fish fillet piece along with plenty of thick cut fries underneath. For takeout, we were peeved that they used pre-packed condiments for tartar sauce rather than provide some homemade or dine-in option. But the fish itself was golden & crunchy on the outside with pleasant flaky fillet texture inside. Well worth it, and they even offer $11 Sun/Mon specials. As for the Halibut & Chips, we were sadly underwhelmed by our first attempt. The fish is firm, mild in flavour with perhaps a little bit of sweetness. It tasted rather bland. We may have to try it fresh to see if it's an acquired taste. Otherwise we'll stick to cod/haddock. The fries accompanying both were a tad soggy but did a bit better with a splash of S&P. To be honest, we've had comparable fish & chips elsewhere. We've even started to rely on our own air fryer at home to cut some grease. However, for convenience it's good to know that Halibut House is a fish & chip option just a stone's throw away from us!

The batter wasn't too thick, greasy, or salty, and the fish filet was thick enough that it retained its structure when eating (instead of becoming a flaky mess). Chips were decent, but not the standout for me. Even their seniors portion size of fish & chips is quite filling. I also really enjoyed the seafood chowder, though it was on the saltier side. Shocked at how large the bowl of chowder was for the price, and they did not skimp out on the ingredients. No one wants a chowder that's 80% roux/cream base and 20% veggies with canned or frozen seafood mixed in. Be forewarned that finding parking on Main St Newmarket can be challenging during events and busier times/seasons!
