I contacted the restaurant and all they would do is refund me the extra I paid for chicken balls even though the shrimp went into the compost bin. So a third of the meal went to waste and all I got was $2 refunded per meal. I won't be back and I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

It was bad, easily the worst Shanghai noodles I've ever had. The vegetables were overcooked, nothing was seared. They used a heavy sauce that looked like it came from a jar and the noodles had a weird taste to them. Portion was ok, I've had larger.

We paid over 50$ for 2 combination plates. The portions were small. The chicken balls were processed and NOT made from scratch; they had no flavour and were the cheapest, grossest thing on the plate. The eggrolls were obviously premade and bought packed, as well. I will note the beef and broccoli was not precooked and made fresh...Overall...I had A LOT better for less. I will not return.

And as far as the buffet goes there wasn't much options. So my daughter had just 2 fortune cookies. You think they would have some Canadian options or even offer her something that was Canadian. I thought that was not right. Also it was so uncomfortable in there, and dark. The food was not that warm either. So we took our daughter to Dairy Queen. Iwe will not be returning to Kao.

First off when you go inside, it is not a fancy place; don't let the plywood tables scare you off. It is so worth it. You can tell very quickly this is a family operation. Things are homemade, the spring rolls are impressive. Remember this; The portions are massive, you will be taking food home. On the back of their menu are authentic Chinese dishes; I ask his recommendation about a couple and took his advice. I got the Mongolian Beef "OMG". There is so much more I would like to say but I know if this is to long people won't read it. All I can say in the word's of a great restaurantor "You Gotta Eat Here".

Our usual go-to for Chinese food is closed on Mondays so we decided to try China Village instead…read morefor take out. Finding a menu online proved to be the first challenge. After much searching we found one, but it was small and difficult to read. We noticed right away that China Village doesn't sell spring rolls, in fact there are only 3 items on the appetizer menu. We settled for egg rolls, and Bo Bo Wontons, as well as General Tao Chicken, Szechuan Beef, and Mushroom Fried Rice. We were pleased to hear it would be ready in 10-15 minutes... our usual haunt takes up to an hour! Once we got home and broke out the food it quickly became obvious why the wait time was so short. The mushrooms in the rice appeared to be canned. The Szechuan beef reminded me both in texture and taste of the boil-in-the-bag beef dinners my mother used to buy when I was little. In its defence, there was a little bit of chili heat added, but not enough to redeem the factory-made taste of the sauce. The General Tao Chicken was more like boneless buffalo wings. The sauce was heavy with something resembling Tabasco, and I don't know how you make deep fried chicken so dry! The portion sizes and prices at China Village are decent, but I'd happily pay more for less if I could have authentic flavours and freshness. There was very little about this meal that tasted Asian. Blindfolded I'm sure I'd have guessed I was eating bad pub food. If you're looking for a cheap way to fill up quickly, China Village might be your spot. If authentic dishes, flavour, and fresh ingredients are on your radar, you should probably keep going, because you're definitely not getting any of that here.

The interior of the restaurant was beautiful and looked newly renovated with an elaborate stainless…read moresteel buffet set up of which I had never seen before. Although very impressive to look at, everything had lids, and therefore steamed the fried items so that they were soggy and not crispy as they should be. I was puzzled by the duel chocolate fountains when only a limited amount of items were offered to dip. The food was mediocre at best and not what I would describe as true Chinese food. Very bland with limited selections. The cold bar had three offerings of fruit, but no salad fixings of any kind. Dessert was the typical big box store selections that you expect from a Chinese buffet. I can't even describe what they classified as sweet and sour chicken. It was some kind of round, rolled, battered ball with a tiny piece of weird tasting chicken inside. Don't try it! They were sufficiently staffed with servers and the little lady, that I assumed was the owner, kept checking the buffet trays to make sure they were full. They are focused too much on the esthetic and not enough on the actual food. Definitely not worth the price. I would advise trying the place 2doors down before stopping here.
