On Friday June 28th, my Partner and I decided to stop into a Chinese Restaurant in New Minas for dinner. The name of the Chinese Restaurant is: KAO, 8986 Commercial Street, New Minas, B4N 3E6 (902.681.6388) and they had an evening buffet. We entered the restaurant at 4:45 p.m. and thought is was very nice. We used the washroom and were seated near the entrance. We both went up to begin serving ourselves food from the buffet. Toward the end of the first trip to the buffet, my partner chumped down on something that was hard. He spit the food that was in my mouth out onto the plate and he told me that he had bitten into something hard and whatever it was broke my tooth. He closely examined the plate and after a few seconds he found a large piece of clear glass. It measured about an inch long and a half inch wide and about a quarter of an inch thick. He left it on the plate, and I called over a waitress and he told her what I had found in the food. They didn't seem to be alarmed at this and only offered the meal "free of charge." As he was still hungry he went back for desert, thinking that it was made outside of the restaurant and might be safer to eat. My Partner and I went up to the cash and paid for my portion of bill and we spoke to the owner about the incident. She wasn't put out about what had happened and had no concern regarding my broken tooth.
They informed me that they had to first review the video to make sure I didn't bring in the foreign object, (i.e., the broken glass) and after reviewing the video footage they would phone me on Saturday evening to discuss how they would like to proceed fixing this problem, (i.e., the dentist bill to fix the broken tooth.) He told them that if you refuse to deal with my broken tooth, he will take them to Court and sue them for damages. They understood what he was saying, and the Manager repeated this to the owner. Trusting that all was going to be taken care of once they reviewed the video footage and them giving him a call the next day, we left the establishment, thus agreeing to allow them to do what they needed to do, and happily awaited their phone call, which never came.
So what were hoping would be a good experience turned into a very negative especially given the fact that the owner did not follow through on her promised actions. read more
