Horrible service . They did not follow our allergy concerns at all. They literally told us that we will be waiting a while for our food because they are too busy. The place was half empty. It looked like a shitty cheap wedding set up. Like dirt cheap wedding. No ambiance at all. So we got up and left to go elsewhere. 2 people stayed as they were eating but we paid and were long gone before they remove the bad food from the table . This is seriously untrained garbage service. We had the aubergine mezze, one of the best I've ever had, expertly burned to smoky perfection. The lentil soup was a smooth bit of spicy heaven. We visited late June '24. Located just off Main Street, this is something of a Tardis. Nothing to look at from the outside, once through the door you find yourself in a warm, attractive, welcoming and surprisingly roomy interior. Long bar on the right, numerous tables and an open kitchen at the far end. On the left the door to the spacious, covered patio. Service from the delightful Megan was impeccable and we soon had a glass of Pinot Grigio for the wife and a quite superb IPA from Roof Hound for me. The menu is Mediterranean oriented and quite extensive, with numerous salads, starters, wraps and bowls and quite substantial mains. I went for the calamari to start, perfectly fine if not outstanding and the lamb shish hebab for main. The latter was truly excellent. Generous chunks of lean, tender and perfectly spiced local lamb, perfect basmati rice and lovely chilli and chimichurri dips. The Greek salad wasn't very Greek, to be honest, with just a token olive and crumbled local feta as a nod to the original. But then again, I'm not exactly a salad person, so others may beg to differ. Overall a delightful experience and definitely a revisit is on the cards before too long. Thoroughly recommended, both for couples and groups. Live music on the patio of occasion too! read more

This was without a doubt the best place for my wife and I when visiting Wolfville and the Annapolis Valley. That is until our last visit about three weeks ago. As we always do, we made reservations to sit on the outside patio. The meal came to us and within minutes my wife who is arracnophobic saw this very large spider nesting next to her and from that moment our dinner was OVER. Now before you criticize me for this review, allow me to finish. I/we realize that nature happens and that we took on the risk associated with our outdoor request, however, I offer the rest of this review of the restaurant as a rebuke to management and the service or the lack thereof. Fast forward- we/requested our food be packed up to go since an indoor option was NEVER extended nor did the server seem to care after my wife told her why we were leaving. She simply said " oh, so do you need the machine to pay"? Go figure. We got back to our hotel only to realize we had no way of storing or reheating a meal that cost nearly $100.00+ dollars. Just as we were leaving town, I thought I would call the restaurant to share with management our experience. I never demanded anything from them other than to hear what I had to say. I got a person who identified himself as "William" the manager. He listened and apologized and even said "we"/( meaning they) dropped the ball and that he wanted to make it up to us ( his words). Well, it's been more than three weeks now and no fewer than seven (7) unanswered calls to this restaurant for William or any member of management to simply return my call. I have waited patiently and avoided not writing a review because I wanted to give them a fair chance to at least reply. Keep in mind that I simply made a call to share my experience with management and never ask for anything, however, William promised that he was sending something to us in the mail immediately so that we could visit again the next time we visit it Wolfville. We are planning a trip to Wolf Hill for the first week in October, however, sadly because of our experience more so with the inattentiveness of management and the lack of professional courtesy they have extended we will not be making future trips to this restaurant. I am sure they will not lose a dime as a result of our choice however, I refuse to patronize businesses that show utter disrespect for customer concerns and for those who do not keep their word. Good Turkish/middle eastern food. We had several dips (eggplant, beet and red pepper), all delicious and accompanied by warm flatbread. My lamb kebabs were tender and flavorful. The grilled veggies (peppers) on the side were good too. Rice was light and fluffy, salad didn't seem particularly middle eastern but it was fresh (shredded cabbage, tomato, olives, cuke and green pepper from what I recall). Hubby's felafels were super dense (too dense) and could have used another minute in the fryer and some yogurt sauce and more accompaniment. His lentil soup was delish. Dining room was super dark and we got whiffs of disinfectant at times. Waitress was new and clearly not that familiar with middle eastern cuisine but sweet and trying her best. Wow! We've been traveling in Nova Scotia for 5 days and were beginning to really wonder about the quality of the restaurants, lots of good fried fish around, but not much else. Then we stumbled upon Troy. Delicious! This place is definitely worth 5 stars. Start with the decor--we sat outside under a big tent on a nice deck. There are heaters, which we didn't need in august. Inside is decorated with colorful Turkish lamps. They cook the kabobs over a neat, rectangle grill. Our cocktails, with local liquors, were spot on. The appetizers (hummus, cucumber cacik, and mutabbal--like baba ganouch) were all excellent. Not huge portions, but enough. The cacik (cucumber yogurt, like tzatziki) was the best we have ever had. We got 3 kebobs and the lamb shank with a couple of upgraded salads. The sauces that came with each dish were the special treat! By far, the best restaurant we have been to in Nova Scotia! read more

I was blown away by this resto. Hearing from the guys at Kebab Kitchen that they were opening up a place in Wolfville, we hopped in the car and literally only drove down there to check this place out. First off, the atmosphere is stunning. With beautiful lights shipped in from Turkey, and the open cedar grill, you feel immersed in the turkish dining experience. The menu is super diverse and has all of the favorites. The best deal however is the 6 course meal deal for $35. Oh my god it was extremely impressive. The portion was fantastic and the flavours were amazing. Loved that they served local wines and the staff were knowledgeable! It is a must try. read more

Friday the 13th brought us to L'Acadie Winery near Wolfville, during our Nova Scotia tour. The hostess at the winery directed us to a few places for lunch in Wolfville and we chose Troy. We dodged raindrops to get in and found a nice, warm and inviting restaurant. Mediterranean food was a change from the excellent seafood that we had been eating for most meals. Ms T ordered a falafel wrap and I went with our server's recommendation for the Lamb Shish Kebab in flat bread. Both were good. The lamb was grilled within sight of our table and was tender and juicy and seasoned well. Based on this one visit I am rating Troy four stars. If I lived here, I would be a regular. read more

There was a small pastry of some sort to share, but otherwise just textureless mush! Flavourful nonetheless. The house red wine was very low end. Rarely am I not interested in finishing my glass of wine. The Mixed Grill platter was pretty tasty. It is impressive and admirable how Troy sources local meat. The flavour was very good. I got the vegetarian mezze plate made vegan and it was delicious. There's parking in what appears to be a city lot right across the street (3 hours M-F). Wolfville is a cute college town in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia and it definitely has that small college town vibe. Reasonably price, especially with the exchange rate. read more

We waited much too long and when asked if we could be seated inside we were told no, and they didn't have enough propane for the heating to keep us warm once we were told no. Once we finally got our meal after an hour and a half of waiting the waiter never once asked us if we needed anything. Glad to see that this restaurant is still in business. Ate here two years ago outside on the patio. Came in for a late lunch. My wife had the lentil pita wrap and I had a falafel pita wrap. Both were served with a small bowl of Turkish salad. Excellent taste and presentation. Each dish was $11 plus tax. With tax and tip close to $30. Can't do that every day but pretty good value and portion size overall. We will go back. PS: Wolfville is insane to get around in during the university school year. read more

I travel a bit and am blessed to be able to eat in some very good restaurants across the U.S. This is my firs trip into Canada as an adult and I was really looking forward to it. It did not disappoint in any way at all. Please don't take this is snobby because I don't mean it to be. But it's hard to believe that such a good restaurant can exist in such a small town. First-rate cuisine in a charming atmosphere. In fact, the ambience and character of the entire city of Wolfville is both traditional and hip; a very eclectic mix and Troy was sort of like that. The weather was just a bit cool but nice and bracing. The restaurant is tucked by a town square where there was a festival ongoing, and across is the curling club. A charming and quaint atmosphere to be sure. There was a guitarist/singer playing there (on Thursday nights) and although it was a bit too loud for conversation, it was still very nice. The staff were just as friendly as I experience at home (I live outside of New Orleans, and there really is this "thing" about southern hospitality that is actually true) - perhaps more so. Food was great. We had appetizers of hummus, hellimi ( a grilled white goat cheese), and spinach borek (which I thought of as a spanakopita). Lots of very good pita bread For entrees, we ate vegetarian (although I'm not), and it was excellent. Had the vegetarian platter that was a hugely generous portion of falafel, borek, grape leaves, sauteed' eggplant with I believe roasted peppers and some sort of a pepper coulis served warm, with rice. I honestly can say that it is some of the best I have had. Anywhere. I fell in love with Nova Scotia and with Wolfville and the Annapolis Valley in particular. I'll be going back and eating at Troy will definitely be in my plans. read more

I love Mediterranean food. That said, I think I've been a little spoiled. I worked in downtown Halifax for many years and as a result I became a regular at Kebab Kitchen in Scotia Square... The absolute best food court experience you'll have anywhere. After moving to the Valley, I was missing my kebab fix, so it was exciting to get the news that Troy had opened in Wolfville, even more excited that it was a new venture by the Kebab Kitchen owners. I'm not sure if that's a fact, but it definitely raised my expectations. The atmosphere at Troy is warm and inviting, the kind of place you could snuggle up for a romantic date or bring your whole family for a celebration. Adorned with Turkish lamps and carpets, the restaurant feels authentic - it's a great use of an otherwise industrial-looking space. We sat a bit away from the single door, anticipating cold every time it opened. Unfortunately we didn't sit far enough away-it was more than a little cold. They could definitely use a double door at the entrance. The alcohol selection was not huge, but diverse enough that it didn't matter. I chose a Porter from the local Sea Level Brewery and my husband chose the IPA. We found it a little odd that the waitress didn't take our drink order while we were pondering the menu. We ordered the Mezze platter to start, I chose the Shashlik Kebab as my main, and my husband picked the Yogurt Kebab. The Mezze arrived arranged beautifully, with a basket of herbed pita. It didn't take us long to scarf it down and we could have used a little more pita but we made do with forks. It was absolutely delicious, although I did find that some of the flavours blended together. Still, really, no complaints. Our main courses were quick to arrive after, and both were significant portions arranged with obvious thought and care. The lamb was cooked to perfection (I like it pink in the middle) and very tender with excellent flavour. The accompanying rice and salad, however, were a little bland - not nearly as tasty as those that accompany the meals at the Kebab Kitchen. I sampled a piece of chicken from my husband's plate, and it too was very tasty, but not quite as good as the Yogurt Chicken available in Scotia Square. Although I was pleasantly full, My husband considered dessert but the only offering was baklava, and he is not a pastry fan. He ended up taking a pass. The meal was extremely satisfying, and overall very good, But I was surprised that The taste just didn't quite live up to that of the Kebab Kitchen where portions are larger and most meals come in at under $10. The prices of $16-18 per main did come with service, better presentation, and a wonderful eating atmosphere so it's worth the extra cost, especially for a special occasion or a date. Still, I was a little bummed that it just wasn't quite as flavourful as my food court haunt. Will I go back? Absolutely. Would I recommend Troy? For sure. Anyone who hasn't been spoiled like I have will enjoy it thoroughly, and even if you have been spoiled, you won't be disappointed. Definitely a great addition to Annapolis Valley cuisine. read more

I was really excited when I heard there`s a Turkish restaurant in Wolfville. It`s not what I`ve expected to find in the valley, but it was certainly a pleasant surprise. I went there on a lovely Sunday evening and the place was packed. If a place is packed it means food must be good. We didn`t have reservations, but still got tables outside at the patio. The atmosphere was pleasant enough. I'd say it's a perfect place for a date with someone special! I ordered the Halef Kebab and my friend got the Mixed Kebob. First thing I gotta say is that since the place was busy food took quite a while to get ready. They prepare everything on coal BBQ. I was okay with waiting but someone else might not be. Keep that in mind! Sadly it felt the restaurant was a little understaffed for that night. The table next to us was a large group and they got served by one of the owners. They probably got perfect service, but unfortunately we didn't! Anyways, I got my food, and gotta say I had more food on my plate even though the mixed kabob costs more. Quality-wise it certainly hit the spot. Quantity though was a different story, I was a bit underwhelmed with the portion size. Don`t get me wrong, I didn`t leave hungry but they could have included a bit more on the side. Meat was okay, but just a little pita bread with eggplant spread and that`s it? Salad was tasty though! They didn't win me over with presentation of the food. Oh yeah, forgot to mention that the rice wasn't anything special. I've yet to find a restaurant with a good rice side dish in Nova Scotia. Overall I wanted to like the restaurant more because the food was really tasty, but maybe I was expecting something more exotic. We went on a beautiful Thursday night and they had relaxing, live music. Two to three stars for service: While our waitress was very sweet and attentive enough, someone obviously messed up on our order as we waited for about an hour and a half to get our meal. If we had a different experience with the service, I'd easily give this place five stars... But it's still an unexpected gem for the food and atmosphere. read more

It was fresh and delicious and delivered in a timely manner and I recommend/will go again in a heartbeat. The drinks I ordered - Mojito and Margarita - bar none the best I've had anywhere! Sitting outside was perfect but we did have to move tables as sitting next to the fountain/plant there were many wasps. We had a light lunch at Troy Restaurant and were very pleased. I had stuffed grape leaves that were served with tomato and cucumber and an interesting sauce. My wife had a Mediterranean salad that she really enjoyed. Service was prompt, pleasant, and responsive. I tried the Mixed Mezzo appetizer which had several dishes on it including Hummus, Yaprak Dolma, Cacik and more. This was served with a generous amount of pita bread. The starter was a small Turkish salad. This is chopped green pepper, tomato, cucumber, and onion bathed in oil and balsamic vinegar. Very fresh and crisp. For my main dish I again went with a mixture of courses. Shashlik Kebab, chicken kebab and a lamb chop on a bed of rice. DEE-lish! Coffee and Baklava ended a tasty meal. The only drawback was that part of the meat serving was too salty. Nothing a good beer or glass of wine could not handle. lol An open kitchen allows you to watch all the gastronomic action. Don't go unless you love lamb. They frequently run out of other menu items but don't let you know until long after you have ordered. This happened to us on several visits. For some reason they don't realize that there is a meat market just down street ftom them. And very little communication between kitchen and waiters. Complained to management about this consistent lack of items on menu. They didn't seem to care. Also make sure you tell waiters if you have food allergies - the menu is not truthful about what food is cooked in. Menu descriptions of dishes fail to mention major food allergen although listed others. Won't go back. read more

Hard to believe Troy has been in play for 4 years. It's trendy and has a good upbeat, vibe. Clearly the owners are deeply invested in every aspect of service and operation. Atmosphere exceeded expectations. The calamari was light and tender. We're off to a good start. The main course was less enjoyable. American portions (excessive) and not particularly flavourful. Mediterranean vegetables were actually just carrots. The meal ended well with a tangy mango gelato. This restaurant has potential and might lift their game if they had more competition. read more

It has an open kitchen and the moment you enter the place, it smells great which adds to its ambiance. It makes me feel like I'm somewhere in Southern Europe. Wolfville already has a great selection of restaurants. That said, this restaurant takes the award for filling a void -- Turkish/Mediterranean food. I've been a longtime lover of Greek/Mediterranean food, but the Turkish element is a whole new - and welcome - exploration for me. It's hard to know where to start this review not having their menu here, but appetizers it is! Their hummus is excellent and the fluffy pitas that are so prevalent at Greek restaurants are here too, natch! Dishes like the Lamb Liver (Arnavut Cigeri), which my friend had, was lovely but best shared with others as a little goes a long way. She loved the lentil soup, enhanced with a touch of mint, and all of it brought out with a squeeze of lemon (not local...yet!) They have a mixed mezza platter that has samples of the appz and a good idea for first time visits. They also have falafel balls (didn't try) and a few other offerings which all look worth pursuing over time (I live here and have that luxury). Good selection of beer on tap plus local wines by the bottle or glass. I had the Planters Ale from Sea Level in Pt Williams; a good reliable local pale ale. My friend had the Luckett Phone Booth red, a sturdy and tasty local product. that she enjoyed very much. I had the Shish Wrap (with Lamb) which was delicious and came in an unpretentious paper-gingham wrap to keep the wrap intact and my hands clean. It worked. Troy TM&C use as much locally-sourced product as they can ... which is great when it comes to the lamb - tender & delicious ... and the beef & chicken, and the veggies ... and, well, you get the idea. There is a 6-course Set menu, something you might want to head straight for as there is ample samples of their breadth & depth. There is a wraps section for lighter fare plus a good selection of main courses. They don't have a lot of seafood on the menu (yet) but do have a scallop/prawn main course that I will try one of these days. I know the Bay of Fundy shrimp aren't what most of us want when it comes to this particular crustacean, but they do live up to their name. However, local is as local has, so I hope Troy works its magic on some of the great offerings around the Minas Basin & Fundy area. (I'm saving my 5th star for that exploration.) There's a special ambiance about the place, low lit at night, warm colours from the lamps and the kitchen. Service has improved greatly since they opened in late May and the atmosphere is authentic & comfortable with some lovely Turkish hanging lamps and tapestry tablecloths. This is the third incarnation of a restaurant in this space and they finally got it right. A complete reno has the grill/kitchen at the back of the space, like a stage, and the grill chef performs brilliantly! A large deck area looks after the overflow in the summer, but I suspect there'll be a lineup around dinnertime come winter. No dessert tonight. $54 tip & taxes incl.
