I genuinely regret spending my money at this establishment. Given the $30 per person price tag, the…read moreshockingly low quality of food presentation, dining environment, and hygiene is completely unacceptable. Let's talk about the food. I understand that woo samgyeop (brisket) is typically served frozen and rolled at Korean BBQ spots, but the plating here was incredibly lousy. They just threw all kinds of meat randomly onto a cheap steel plate. It honestly looked like pet food or leftover from someone else's table. If you are charging $30 a head, put some effort into the presentation! Places like Gen BBQ know how to plate their meats properly, and there are so many simple ways this place could improve. The kalbi (short ribs) was just as insulting. It arrived in tiny, unappetizing pieces that looked like abandoned corner scraps from a butcher's block. Seeing those meats served to me gave me zero appetite, and what we did manage to cook was so heavily over-marinated that we could barely finish it. While the servers themselves were generally kind, the dining experience was a disaster. At one point, a staff member was cleaning the adjacent table, which was only separated from ours by a perforated shield. She carelessly sprayed the cleaning liquid right through the holes, splashing chemicals directly onto me while I was eating. To make matters infinitely worse, we found not one, but two bugs right on our table. I dine out all the time and have never encountered such a hygiene issue at a KBBQ spot. To top off this miserable night, I ended up spending a good amount of time in the restroom afterward--I'll spare you the details, but it was awful.

Wait time for food may vary depending on the hour you come in. At 9:30pm, your food may come out in 10 minutes like mine did. It may take longer and it may only be available for take out. I ordered the Sweet n Spicy BBQ 5pcs chicken set and it was delicious! The chicken was crispy and tender. The fries and salad were also great and complimented the chicken well. All-in-all, this was a GREAT value meal for under $20. Definitely satisfied my Korean Fried Chicken cravings and then some. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a great chicken spot!

But I think that's what makes the chicken so addicting (you definitely don't need sauces with this chicken). The ketchup that came on the side was good! Doesn't taste like regular ketchup. BUT, if you are hungry, love noodle soups and want to stray from the typical fatty burgers and pizza, try out the number 1 with chicken on this menu. It is a vermicelli noodle soup with bean sprouts that will warm you to the bones and the one size is enough to feed 2 adults. Delicious. The broth has the perfect seasoning with garlic, green onion and I did not need to add anything other than a little hot sauce on the protein. Lots of noodles, which I love. Quick and satisfying, I would order this again. You can also get them to pack it to go apparently - they will keep the noodles separate so the whole thing is not overcooked by the time you get home. Frugal choice, under $9 per bowl and they will give you a coupon for a free drink with meal for next time.

They have Lunch Special offering in a bento style box which is a good thing as sometimes dinner options can be very filling. I ordered the Galbi Bentio (short ribs) - my favourite. It was very yummy. It came with some shredded lettuce for salad, garlic potato, yam tempura, and rice. All very good. I also added a soup and that was excellent. My colleague ordered the Pork Bulgogi and he said it was very good as well. We were both stuffed at the end. Food came out quickly. Great spot for a business lunch. Not too high traffic or noisy. Will definitely come back.

The service has gotten much better and instead of ordering the Korean dishes, we just ordered more chicken. The other flavors of chicken they have are better than just the plain version. Upon walking in, I immediately felt like I was transported back to Korea with the seating arrangement, self-help water station (much preferred for people like me that drink a lot of water), the K-pop music playing in the background, the warm welcome from Kim and Sarah, and a genuine taegukgi (Korean flag) from the Korean War (SUPER COOL, see picture). The beef stone bowl was one of the best I have had in North America (no joke) and reminded me a lot of my time in South Korea. The ratio of meat, rice, and vegetables were spot on and the marinade on the meat was so good. The egg was cooked perfectly with some runny yolk. And the cherry on top was the slightly crispy rice on the bottom of the stone bowl. I honestly would have had another bowl if I didn't have to catch a flight. The seaweed soup complimented the stone bowl perfectly. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better traditional Korean meal before my flight. The other thing that makes this restaurant special is the customer service. Kim and Sarah were so welcoming and we even shared some great conversation. I would come back just for them. An employee of a business within the same building came in and you can tell based off their interaction that Kim and Sarah are respected and loved in the community. Thank you Stone Bowl, Kim, and Sarah for giving me a little taste of Korea during my work trip. I will be back!
