We stopped in on a drizzly late fall weekend last saturday, looking for a massage. It was a 25th anniversary girls weekend, since the masseuse was not there, Jill suggested we could all 4 come in and get services and just spend a nice afternoon in her warm comfy spa. Learned that the spa chairs were hand made from recycled barn wood they were exceptionally comfortable. I got my curly hair blown out, which I rarely do, particularly if the weather is wet, but I wanted to hang out with my girls while their nails dried. Jill did an amazing job, it lasted the wet day and the ferry ride home and still looks spectacular.. I have had curly hair a very long time (my whole life) and have become one with my curls, but Jill went the extra mile. and it looks so good I may have to go back to Block Island. Many people have told me that I should always wear my hair this way, if Jill's salon was down the block, I might consider it. Not really, I love my curls. She delivered my forgotten cup to the restaurant and answered my e-mail about products she used, within an hour. read more

Spray tan! Got a spray tan for the first time in a while and I love it. Everyone at the spa was so lovely and a joy to be around not to mention my spray tan looks amazing! Can't wait to go back and get it done again before my wedding! Highly recommend this service, very professional and quality tan, and I am on the fair side so I am always a bit concerned when I get spray tans, but they were great and worked with me on my skin tone. read more

They accommodated a large group, and gave us space to set up food & drinks, and to hang out while we got ready. It was the perfect laid back atmosphere. I called last minute to get a haircut and color, the owner, Jill got back to me quickly with her availability and was able to fit me in the next morning! I have curly hair and I haven't always had the best experience with haircuts so I'm picky about who cuts my hair. Jill made me feel comfortable due to her extensive experience. She matched the color perfectly and exceeded my expectations in the cut. She was very friendly and we had a great conversation while she did my hair, that's always a plus! I went to BI for my Honeymoon as a compromise with my Husband before our actual Honeymoon. We had a package that included a "2-Hour Couples Retreat Massage" and I scheduled this a few months in advance. We got there on time, albeit, soaking wet as we were caught in a down-pour walking there. The receptionist didn't even greet us, she was busy on her laptop, so we took a seat. She brought us the paperwork to fill out. We were there for at least 15-20 minutes before anyone even approached us afterwards. We were brought into a FREEZING cold couples room, with the fans on to boot, it was raining outside and they get the breeze from the ocean which wasn't warm. This was 9/2/12 BTW. So it was supposed to be a 90-minute massage each for my Hub and I. My massage therapist hurt me, she was pinching my shoulders and I was making uncomfortable faces, instead of saying anything. I was still freezing even under covers and she could've felt that easily. After about an HOUR of torture it was done. My clothes were still soaked and cold as were my Hub's. (He enjoyed his massage BTW). After the massage was the best part, there was a fantastic bottle of Champagne and about a half pound or more of Chocolates. This was the best part (for me). We went to our room and looked them up online, the asking price out of pocket was so outrageous, I would've never paid this, thankfully it was included, although we did leave $20 tips, which I felt cheap bc this place is so crazily expensive. Needless to say, I will NEVER EVERRRR go back here again. EEK. read more

Had a couples massage here a few days ago, and my boyfriend and I both left completely thrilled. Quite possibly one of the most amazing massages I've ever had. The staff is professional and friendly. The spa is clean and smells amazing. Paid attention to areas I said were bothering me. Went in with a sprained ankle that I was afraid to have touched, and the masseuse suggested she work on it a bit, it felt better immediately. I have to admit to being put out when greeted with a scheduling error that pushed my husband and my massage and pedicures back. However, we all make mistakes, it was all handled very nicely and the service that we received more than made up for it. The atmosphere was immediately relaxing. I, a massage veteran, and my husband, who was having his first, both thoroughly enjoyed our stone massages. We felt comfortable, our needs were addressed and we still feel supremely relaxed a full day later. The therapists, Kim and Laurel, are wonderful, have great energy and truly care about their work. Our pedicures with Jill and Kara were equally good. We enjoyed both the service and just chatting with them. They quickly put my husband at ease, took their time and produced one of the best pedis I've had. I had a facial with Jill. It was amazing! Being a first time visitor to the island, I had never been to this spa. I walked in with only the expectation of a fabulous facial. I was not disappointed! I loved the all-natural products and was so impressed that some are even made right here, by hand, on the island. Two different people even told me I was glowing afterward. Jill and her staff were amazingly helpful for the hair and makeup for my wedding. Everyone looked awesome and we had a great time at the spa. We were all able to get ready together in the large space that she has and we got picked up right from the spa and brought to the ceremony by a local cab driver. The owner, Jill, was very helpful in planning all of this and making sure the cab was there to pick us up and the flowers were dropped off at the spa in time. My friend and I had massages. Both were good, but they were done in 1 large room seperated by a curtain. We both could hear everything the other said. Also, I was near the window and could hear street noise. The music was not soothing like in most massage places. Another friend had a facial, and the facial was great, but again, the pedicure area was seperated from the facial area by a curtain. Not relaxing at all when she had to listen to 4 people yapping the whole time! Serivces are good, but the rooms are not conducive to the services they provide. Have been to much better places for less money. read more

I walked in there Labor Day weekend with a toenail that I had broken below the nail bed. I asked if they would have a manicurist cut it off. I was willing to pay. The receptionist was nasty. Told me I had to wait and they would call me when a tech was available. Two hours later I get a call saying the nail tech didn't feel comfortable cutting it. I had an awful experience at Koru. I had a gel done that took an hour plus and it felt like the lady doing it had never done a manicure before. She kept stopping to change the song, get nail files that she had forgotten, etc and told me that next time i should take care of my cuticles before coming in to make her job easier. I went to check out and had to wait another 20 minutes before she could figure out how to check out a customer. This is the first yelp review I've ever written, but it feels deserved because it's not worth it to waste an hour and a half on a mediocre at best manicure. read more

I had an amazing experience. As soon as you walk in you relax and are greeted warmly. The staff are entirely professional and friendly. I got a hot stone spa pedicure and stared out at the ocean while enjoying a glass of wine... not a bad deal in my book! My friend had a facial which she was just as thrilled with. The WORST manicure in all my life. This was the first time in all my 20 years of getting manicures that I walked into a nail place with my nails looking better than when I left. The manicurist convinced me to get VinylLux nail polish bc she said it lasted. (I didnt know it was $25! until I checked out) she painted my nails and when she was done I looked down in horror. It looked like a child had done it. The bottom was so sloppy I had nail polish on my skin of my fingers and it just looked horribly unprofessional. I had to be somewhere right after my appointment otherwise I would have had her done the whole thing over again. I was planning on speaking to the woman who checked me out but she was on the phone and picked up my card swiped it without saying a word to me and just continued with her phone conversation. After 3 hours of my manicure the whole thing started chipping at the bottom. It was so embarrassing being at an event with these nails. I ended up getting my nails done on the mainland the next day (with the same nail polish- Vinyl ux- for $12!! That is $13 cheaper than their butcher job) and 3 days later- it has lasted. Seriously if you are visiting the beautiful block Island either get your nails done before or after your trip! NOT worth it at all to go to these amateurs. read more
