Dr. Jarfania and his staff are outstanding! I broke a metacarpal in my hand one fine Sunday in a mountain biking mishap. My wife found his name via our insurance portal and with a bit of internet research she discovered that he was (at one point) Chief of the Hand Center at Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. I showed up in his office the following Monday morning as a new patient without an appointment and his very efficient and friendly staff was able to work me in to see him. He was very forthright about the risks of hand surgery as well as the the risks of letting it heal w/o intervention and encouraged me to get a 2nd opinion if I had any concerns. I did not, and wanted to move forward with the surgery which was able to be scheduled for the very next day. Dr Jafarnia's craftsmanship and precision in the placement of a plate and 6 screws was amazing. I had very little pain following the procedure and was out of the bandages and in splint a week later that I could remove when working at my desk so I could type without any issues. With a few weeks, my hand was back to 100% of the functionality I had before the accident. I hope I never have to go back, but I know where I will go with any hand issues in the future! read more

Dr. Jafarnia did my Carpal Tunnel surgery in 2016 and uses what I consider, the best resources. The neurologist he used found the issue after being misdiagnosed as not having CT 10 yrs prior so I just lived with the pain. I continued having issues after CT surgery and with excruciating pain, returned to see him July 2018 & was diagnosed with Dequervains. Dr. Jafarnia offered less invasive treatment with a steroid injection but I knew from dealing with CT that this as temporary and with the pain I had, I said "NO, I actually want surgery tomorrow", and laughed! To my surprise he said "Ok, let's do it" I though he was kidding but he was not. I visited with his fabulous PA Jennifer and with Monica his scheduler (who by the way can't do magic and make him available if he's not - per another review, lol) and had surgery 7/3/18. I'm doing great and can use my hands again! I was in a meeting yesterday talking about technology driven hand problems and told the person to do the clinical hand movements used to diagnosis Dequervains and it hurt her! She's making an appointment. Just sharing the wisdom.....I'll be back if I ever have another hand disorder but I definitely recommend Dr. Jafarnia to anyone I meet. read more

After a bad fall down some stairs Nov 27 we called Houston Methodist West emergency room on a Sunday and they got me an appt. with Dr. Jafarnia the next morning, Monday. I had a busted elbow with several breaks and he did surgery on me Tuesday Morning, Jan. 30. Was in physical therapy 2 days later. I have recovered completely in 6 weeks. Covid has been rough on all the medical community, but I have never had such a friendly and caring group of people to handle appointments, checking on my progress, answering my questions, putting such a great surgery team together, and all with a smile on their face. If you should have any hand, wrist, elbow or shoulder problems I certainly recommend Dr. Jafarnia and his team. They can and will help you. I am so grateful for him and his assistants, Jennifer, physical therapists Michelle, Jessica, Andrea and Mary, and I am sure there are others that I don't remember their name. Dr. Jafarnia is the hand surgeon for both my wife and me. I can't recommend him enough! When I broke my 5th metacarpal bone in November, he was able to work me into his schedule immediately. He performed surgery the very next day to install 3 screws into my hand to fix my broken bone. Last October, his office also gave me a steroid shot in my hand to alleviate a trigger finger condition.My wife was the one that recommended Dr. Jafarnia to me after he performed carpal tunnel surgery on her. There were absolutely no complications with either of our surgeries.Dr. Jafarnia is part of the highly recommended Methodist Hospital system which is the best there is. I was recommended to see Dr. Jafarnia by my physician at Village Family Practice for my left thumb that I could no longer bend or it would lock in a place that would send such a heavy spike of pain that would literally make me scream. Jafarnia was very gentle, understood the pain level and was very honest with the diagnoses. Not ready to jump in with the knife, he suggested trying a cortisone shot. That worked for a bit, back to visit him again and admitted it was time for surgery. West Methodist is a great hospital and everyone in the operating room was great! Still sore a month 1/2 later, but I can move it with no problem and exercise. Jafarnia is really a great doctor - I like his mannerism. His assistants are very good and kind. Dr. Jafarnia and staff are amazing! I have been going to Dr. Jafarnia for two years now after I shattered my wrist in 2017. My sons went to Dr. Jafarnia when they were in sports in high school. I highly recommend Dr. Jafarnia. Besides being an outstanding surgeon, his talent in minimal scarring is impeccable. I literally had little to no pain after my first surgery (with a plate installed) and recovered within two weeks. After my second surgery to remove the plate, I had zero pain. Highly recommended. Great care, great doctor and great supporting staff. After spending months with pain on my wrists and thumbs, I went to Dr. Jafarnia (which by the way, was easy and quickly to schedule). In just one month, I was tested, diagnosed and successfully treated for both hands. I had a steroid injection in the left and an endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery on the right. Two weeks after my surgery, I am doing great in both hands and I'm very satisfied. Dr. Jafarnia and his staff were very professional and thorough throughout. I have been a patient of Dr. Jafarnia for almost ten yours. First time, I made an appointment, I did not know what to expect. Dr. Jafarnia, his nurse practitioner (Jennifer) nad office staff are excellent professional. They are courteous and treat patient with respect. They take very good care of their patients. After a double fracture of my wrist and thumb I continued to have excruciating pain. My previous doctor treated the fractures and told me to continue therapy. I told my therapist about the pain and she suggested Dr. JAFARNIA who was able the examine me the next day. He diagnosed me with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Cubital Tunnel Syndrome and said my nerve was badly pinched causing the pain and that surgery was necessary to stop the pain. He scheduled the surgery 3 days later. Since the surgery I have been pain free and I am very thankful for how he took care of me in correcting my problem. I have known Dr. Jafarnia for over 10 years, starting when I worked for him for 2 1/2 years. He is so professional and caring of his patients that I knew if I ever had a hand problem that he would be the doctor I would see. As it turned out he has treated my husband and myself for some problems and most recently did my carpal tunnel surgery. He called me the night of my surgery to check on me(something he routinely does with his patients) and followed my care closely. Dr Jafarnia did a fantastic job taking care of my broken finger. Not only did he get me in to see him the day after my accident when I initially called but after the xrays showed that my finger was broken in multiple places, he took me immediately in for surgery. No waiting, no going home. I went in for a new patient appointment and had surgery with pins put in my finger the same day. He then moved practices but made sure to check my insurance and to make sure that I would not suffer financially because he moved from Hermann to Methodist. I have dupuytren's contracture of my right hand. Another surgeon had suggested surgery could not be considered before performing a procedure to straighten the fingers. He also suggested it would probably recur in a year of two. I am unbelievably lucky that another orthopedic doctor told me that what I was told previously didn't sound right and suggested I see Dr Jafarnia. Best day ever!! Dr. Jafarnia performed surgery on my wrist (January 2018) to repair it after a fall. I've done well and I feel he and his team took good care of me. I was able to get scheduled for the initial consultation, the surgery, physical therapy and follow up visits with him easily. I felt he and his nurse practitioner, Jennifer, did a good job of explaining to me what was being done and why and what I would need to do on my own to get full use of the wrist back. Dr. Jafarnia recently did surgery on my left thumb. While in the hostpital all four nurses told me that if they ever have anything they need hand surgery for they planned to use Dr. Jafarnia. He is by far the best surgeon for anything related to the elbow to the hand. I drive from Bastrop, Texas as I trust him completely with my care. Dr. Jafarnia is an incredible healer. He cares about the patient -- the patient's anxieties, pain and budget. He explains what is wrong and what he is going to do to fix it. He answers questions in English, not medical babble. His follow-up process is awesome. All of his support staff follow his lead, too. Wonderful surgeon and team! I broke three of my right metacarpals in December 2020 from a car accident and got my first surgery a few days after my accident and my second surgery two months later. It's been 4 months since the initial surgery and my hand has recovered great! The whole team was really attentive and encouraging with my progress!
