And finally, there are some freshly prepared foods that make the co-op a destination store for me. Sushi. And those spicy samosas that are kept in the warmer near the soups. Especially the cabbage one! Apparently they are made by Zemen, the Ethiopian grocery on Maple, so you could also look for them there. That is the co-op the way I experience it. DO NOT USE APPLE PAY HERE!!!!!!!…read more There is no sign posted saying that Apple Pay is currently not working, so I had no reason to know there was an issue. I placed my order, they rang everything up, and the payment was declined on their end. However, the charge still reduced my Apple Cash balance and shows as "pending" on my end. The employees told me the pending transaction supposedly will not authorize, but apparently this has happened before. If they already know there is an issue with Apple Pay, why is there no sign at the register saying, "We are currently unable to accept Apple Pay"? Had there been a sign, I obviously would not have used it and this entire situation could have been avoided. Now my money is tied up in a pending transaction, I have a screenshot showing the charge and the reduced balance, and I couldn't leave with the items I had already attempted to purchase. I asked the employees for help and asked to speak with a manager. I was told the manager wasn't there. I asked if they could call the manager, and they told me they didn't have a manager's number and refused to call anyone. The only solution they offered was for me to come back tomorrow and talk to the manager. So, essentially, their payment system has an issue, they apparently know about it, they didn't warn customers about it, and now I'm expected to rearrange my plans and come back tomorrow to deal with the consequences. The employees also seemed completely lost about what to do. The only response I kept getting was, "I apologize for that." I appreciate an apology, but an apology doesn't resolve the fact that my balance has been reduced and I don't have the merchandise I attempted to purchase. I ultimately had to buy the item using a credit card instead, while now having to wait and see whether the Apple Pay transaction actually processes or eventually gets reversed. If it does process despite the store not completing the purchase, I'll have to contact the card issuer to dispute the charge. The frustrating part is that this could have been prevented by something incredibly simple: PUT UP A SIGN. If Apple Pay isn't working, tell customers before they use it. Don't let the transaction fail on your end, leave the customer's money in pending status, and then tell the customer to come back tomorrow because you don't know what else to do. One star because the actual problem wasn't just that Apple Pay didn't work. Technical issues happen. The problem was the lack of communication, the lack of a warning, and the complete lack of any useful assistance once the problem occurred.

I was just trying to mitigate the effects of my poor eyesight. After that woman pointed at me, the store staff followed me around the store as they would a suspected shoplifter, even though I have been a regular customer for years; literally since the day that this store opened, and far longer than that woman. Overall, it was an extremely disappointing experience. Is this how you treat your shoppers with disabilities?

As to the store itself, it has a lot of standard things you'd expect to see, but I found some nice items on clearance. Self-checkout was available, if marginally functional, and I found a set of single-stall bathrooms to be a welcome development, but they were only available after checking out at the register. There was a lot of weird bush league behavior going on, including a car standing out front double parked after the driver dodged in for what I assume was an online order pickup. It seems like this largely vacant complex should have easier parking and more efforts to discourage bad behavior, but apparently I expect too much.

I waliked into this store by chance. I have low sugar and needed food quick. The first thing I noticed was a Korean woman stuffing fruit down her shirt. I grabbed a bag of grapes. Before, I could put anythingh else in my bag, I was surrounded by a huge African male who started screaming "stop stealing! We weigh the grapes by the pound and you are stealing! I was like "WTF,what about the Korean lady stuffing fruit down her shirt? I am a licensed attorney and do not need to steal" He did not respond and continued to follow me around the store until I summoned management. He would not shut up. I finally complained to management and he stopped following me in the store. But came outside and continued cursing and calling me names. Only when I got in my car and called te police did he stop. I will not be shopping there again. I am filing a complaint with the NAACP, Maryland Attorney Generaland the Better Business Bureau. I was targeted because I am African_American. read more

This place really needs to be checked by the Health Department, and I have no problem making that call! Just a couple hours ago, I was buying cherry tomatoes, when I noticed that one of them had a strange white line (looks like a dry worm to me) so as soon as I saw it, I told the cashier to throw it away as it could potentially harm anyone that would consume it. The cashier decided to put on the side, and the bag guy decided to open it with his bar hands and take out the tomato out, close it and put it right back on the shelf RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY EYES! Clearly, they don't really care about their consumers well being. I would highly suggest staying away from this place, as ALOT of the stuff is usually already expired or about to be! I went from being a local customer to writing a horrible review about their store. I will make sure to spread the word within my community, so they can learn a much needed lesson! read more

I was there Thursday around 9:20 pm. I was getting vegetables.at 930 one Asian guy employee came and told us that we need to leave right away leaving the grocery we collected already. He was furious at us.my mother was scared.then he pulled our grocery carts and tried to push us as well.i told him not to assault us or I call police.the worst experience ever.if they close at 930 they need to lock the door by 9 so customers can finish by 930 They can't rush or assault anyone. That falafel though made this wrap totally worth ordering The falafel was so light and perfectly flavored. Finally a falafel ball that is not burnt on the outside, dried out, or just tastes like parsley. This falafel was everything I could have dreamed of, and I will certainly order it again. Next time I visit Zam Zam not only will I bring a shopping bag to grocery shop, but I also look forward to another authentic falafel wrap.
