I honestly think it's unfair that this facility only has a 3.5-star rating…read more My first experience with Companion was when I dropped off my daughter's cat to be spayed. I was upset and unfamiliar with the process, which made the experience more stressful and caused some delays. To be clear, my frustration was directed at the situation and my daughter, not the facility. Despite my attitude, the staff handled everything professionally and never allowed my frustration to affect the quality of care they provided. My second experience occurred when my daughter's dog got loose. He was taken to Companion, and thankfully they posted him on their website. Because of that, we were able to locate him quickly and bring him home. Once again, the staff was professional, kind, and helpful throughout the process. My final experience was when I needed to surrender another one of my daughter's cats. During the intake process, I appreciated all the questions they asked to ensure the cat would be matched with the best possible new family. It was an emotional experience for me, and when I started crying, a staff member comforted me with a hug. Their empathy and compassion made it much easier to leave him there knowing he would be cared for. He was adopted within about a week, which made me incredibly happy. Because of these experiences, I will continue to use and support Companion's services. Every person I have met there has been wonderful. They are not only professional but also compassionate, caring, and trustworthy. Their staff consistently makes difficult situations easier, and I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of their services.

I'm starting with a disclosure: I have not met or seen this rescue in person. I contacted to see if…read moreany of their rescues would be a good fit for my family. The conversation is causing me to pause & poorly review. Main concerns are as follows... 1) most questions have been vaguely answered. 2) I was encouraged to "shop around" so that I could see what a "great deal" I would be getting 3) I was told the other shelters have higher prices that they, in fact, do not. 4) Their price RANGE is very askew from every other shelter/rescue I've had experience with. A $245+ price range that depends on whether or not a dog is "designer". Prices for the dogs range from $55-$300PLUS!!! Here is the full convo (personal info edited) *Hi! I just found your FB page & we are looking for a new furbaby friend to join our menagerie. We are looking for a smaller dog. We aren't too set on a specific breed, size, etc, though my husband does have a thing for black &/or white coats & especially any hairless/crested varieties. I'm not sure what your schedule is like for tomorrow but if an appointment is possible in the morning that would be awesome. *Alternative Pet Rescue-Would 10 am work tomorrow:) Be sure to look through dogs a lot have been adopted out!!! I get dogs in every month:) We have Brownie 95$ Bobby Sox 95$ 3 legged:0 Sporty dachound blklong hair 50$ Brindle boston/chi 150$ 4lbs Tea Cup Deer chi 3lbs blk/tan 150$ *The one my husband is the most interested in is Fendi (?) - the white westy mix. Is he available? 10a is good for us. I'm just trying to figure out who is who in all the pics! Lol *Alternative Pet Rescue-I know we have packs of dogs they go quick every month. We always have a waiting list:) Fendi acts like a Westie holly terrier:) would chase everything on your farm:) *Ok. What's the address? I'm on my phone & it's not pulling up. *Alternative Pet Rescue-we are in cda on seltice:) Be sure to read pricing info Fendi is a Tea Cup designer pup. His not a budget buddy:) *I'm not even sure what that means. I am not finding any pricing info on any specific dog. I'm also not finding a list/album of currently available dogs. Am I just missing it? OK, I think I just found something. What is the criteria for a 'designer dog'? Seems anyone could choose one breed to cross with another & call the offspring "designer". *Alternative Pet Rescue-on the wall just scroll down its a picture of 2 big dogs hugging says pricing info. We always have a variety for every budget:) i posted budget buddies pictures 6 dogs in one picture 55-150$ Tea cups hypo allergenic 300 and up:) fendi is hypo allergenic micro tea cup designer hand bag dog. Fendi is for Fendi designer purses. Be sure to shop around and price getting them fixed ect microchipped hypo allergenic always top dogs *Why would I shop around for pricing to get them fixed & microchipped? Isnt that already done? *Alternative Pet Rescue-They support rescues of the budget buddies *Are the dogs fixed & microchipped when adopted out or is this an additional cost? *Alternative Pet Rescue-yes mine are laser fixed microchipped all shots ect shop to know we have excellent prices *I don't think you understand where I am coming from. I am looking for a family pet, not a "great deal on a designer dog" or a "bargain buddy". I am looking for a pet that is going to be compatible with my family and a permanent fixture in my home. A family member. While cost is not "irrelevant" - I do have a budget - I am aware that designer dogs from breeders are ridiculously priced. However, I have been looking around at other shelters/rescues for several months, looking for the perfect companion, & I have to say that your rescue is the first one I have seen that does the "budget buddy" & "designer" pricing. I mean no disrespect here, but it isn't sitting well. I support all rescues/shelters, I've adopted nearly all of my pets from shelters/rescues my entire adult life. The ones that didn't come from a shelter were strays I rescued myself. Every other rescue has a pretty standard price with ranges of less than $50 from the lowest to the highest price - not a range as extreme as $55-$300, like yours. Look, I appreciate the work you are doing, its great, but something about this is just raising a lot of red flags. I think I am going to keep looking. Thanks anyway. *Alternative Pet Rescue-Shelters in this area charge 85$ & up Spokane Humane society charges 250 for a small dog We average 30 adoptions a month for 7 years now We are a non-profit.org * This is directly from the Spokane Humane Society website - Adoption fees for dogs are as follows: 2-5 months & small dogs are $175. 5 months - 8 years are $125.. 8 years+ are $75. SCRAPS charges $85 no matter the size or breed. SpokAnimal fees range from $150-$200. I know because I have been to all three over the last few weeks, sometimes multiple times a week. Again, thank you anyway. I will be looking elsewhere.

First - this rescue prefers only dogs under 4 years old and without health issues (they refused a 6 year old dog from our group when we were full up because - as they put it "we can't make money on a sick dog who needs work, we only fix dogs and do light dental!" What idiots!. I have heard from other local rescues who have also had issues with this "rescue" bringing in dogs from out of our area and charging stupid prices for dogs they got for free and barely put any funds into the care of. If you are a real rescue you would take dogs of all ages and not charge "designer" prices! Steer clear!! Go to a real rescue and do NOT support these dog flippers!

I've supported the Spokane Humane Society for years. Ever since that day when we fostered four…read morepuppies that were abandoned on the side of the road. Our experience with the organization has always been friendly and professional. They were very concerned about the safety of the puppies and, as we had been volunteers with them, they allowed us to foster for longer than four weeks to help the puppies trust people again. From that time on, we have fostered on and off for more than 12 years at least. I'm so grateful for this organization and how they care for the animals that Somehow end up at the Humane Society through no fault of their own.

I'm looking at the lower end of reviews for SHS. I can tell you from someone who, until, yesterday…read morefostered cats with them. I think that the potential for them to be good is lost in internecine battles. I was let loose as a foster which means that I was on the losing end. I fostered from August of 2025 until now, January 2026. I don't know why - I got a phone call on a shoddy cell from 'Kim' and I was expecting it. I *think* I'm going to be adopting a cat with colon cancer. But, I asked too many questions. What i experienced with SHS was this: The charity extends. And then it doesn't. I fostered a high maintenance cat. I'm still not sure if we'll see him again or not. But, according to the call from Kim (that I couldn't hear very well), this is all about some 'lab tests.' As a foster, I am giving my time, my love and my patience. If that's not appreciated, I'm glad that my SHS account page is no longer there. My major concern is for this cat. I have no idea if we'll see him again and, well, I think we need that cat, 'Zoe' but we call him 'Simon.' again. Hey, it's what it is. If SHS faults me, I've got tons of emails and texts that prove otherwise. But, right now, I am really wondering about Simon. So, my star value for Spokane Humane Society is based on one thing - it's about the animals. My experience indicates that this is NOT about the animals with SHS but they can always hire posters to refute me. So, you guys get a 1 from me. Honestly, if I could've given you a negative number, that would have been it. This is not about the ego of a foster coordinator. It's about the animals. Get a clue.

They literally just looked at him and said "Oh it's mating season that's why he peed on your bed" I trusted them and took him home, happy knowing he was okay. Within a matter of 24 hours things took a turn for the worst. He wasn't eating, playing, or using his litter box. I decided that I was going to take him to the ER, but I was too late, my best friend was gone. When I took him to get cremated, they told me he had FELV and a Urethra blockage and that's why he passed. If Dr. Kim Tanguay, DVM took my concerns seriously instead of saying it was mating season and actually checked him and did a urinanalysis. my best friend would be alive right now. Instead they didn't because they only cared about the money they were losing since they couldn't charge me. This place is lazy and incompetent and if you love your animal friends DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE. My heart is broken every day.
