    :,) so cute

I am a volunteer at Spokane Humane Society and went there for the first time to get trained today! :-) This place is located a little out of the way (north east of Spokane) and the roads on the way are so bad.... so much cracks :/ but I understand that for them to have a place to walk dogs, they need a big, isolated place. Jen who was the trainer was really sweet and awesome. I could tell she really does care about animals and showed compassion. Other staff members are also nice and easily approachable. I only got trained for cats (sadly not dogs yet :( ) so I only got to checked out cats they had. All the cats were really sweet but a little shy and I got to play with them for an hour! It seriously makes me want to adopt a cat...!! Kitties cost about $75 to adopt and adult cats are $25 (sometimes fees waived too). Staffs were very organized and segregated cats into different rooms depending on if they are sick, has ringworm, not so friendly, friendly. They also have a nice little retail section for cat and dogs goodies. The building was pretty big and clean. You should definitely come check out this place! These animals are all sweet and loving and they would like to find a new place they would call home!

I absolutely love this place. I adopted my sweet cat Pesstie here, she's almost 11 and partially blind. She has been my best friend since. Pesstie was the pet of the week so I was given a gift basket full of food, treats, toys, brushes, a collar, and food trays. As well as a free ID tag. They made everything extremely easy, I had every single document for my cat I needed to have her licensed and registered as an ESA. I highly highly recommend this place - they gifted me with my best friend and I am so grateful for the work they do here.

I love this place! The staff is SUPER sweet and caring. The vets are very knowledgeable and tell you exactly what to do with you're new fur child. They gave me suggestions of brands of food for my new pup as she can't have any grains or chicken. This facility is small but the people who work here genuinely care and they have always been exceptionally nice and understanding. Got my pitty there and I'm so happy I found her

I adopted my GSD from here in 2016. The staff was very friendly, the animals all seemed clean and healthy as well. Good bunch of people!

He has a severe skin allergy that was flaring up, and they took the time to make sure I knew about it(which I did) and wanted to make sure I knew how to care for his flare up. They literally just looked at him and said "Oh it's mating season that's why he peed on your bed" I trusted them and took him home, happy knowing he was okay. Within a matter of 24 hours things took a turn for the worst. He wasn't eating, playing, or using his litter box. I decided that I was going to take him to the ER, but I was too late, my best friend was gone. When I took him to get cremated, they told me he had FELV and a Urethra blockage and that's why he passed. If Dr. Kim Tanguay, DVM took my concerns seriously instead of saying it was mating season and actually checked him and did a urinanalysis. my best friend would be alive right now. Instead they didn't because they only cared about the money they were losing since they couldn't charge me. This place is lazy and incompetent and if you love your animal friends DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE. My heart is broken every day.

All of our pets have been loved and treated like family. Went to fill out paperwork for adopting a cat, but they wouldn't let us have one as we would let it outside. Really? Our cat cat goes outside, roams the fenced backyard, does her outside business and comes back. They wouldn't let us adopt because we already have an indoor/outdoor cat? When we went to their space on Trent, it seemed as if most of their cats had "kitty colds" and were told it was going around the facility. I commend the idea of animal foster parents, but they seem a bit rigid. They didn't even try to get to know us. Good job driving away responsible owners. Good luck to all the future cat ladies.

And if an animal is cute and draws lots of sponsors they won't tell the donors when it gets adopted. They'll milk that puppy or kitten for all it's worth, never telling anyone it's been adopted for the last year. They avoid taking animals to the vet for necessary things, even if the animal is in pain. They don't like to spend money on the animals. And I've personally seen them leave the vaccines on top of the refrigerator all day long and then go ahead and use them. (Once the vaccines reach room temperature they are no longer effective. They MUST be kept refrigerated.) And volunteers steal microchips and vaccines for their own pets. All around a dishonest, unethical group.

We had to give up an older dachshund because of a family member passing and not being able to keep the dog in our apartment. We did try to reach out to anyone and everyone we knew hoping to find a good home for him as well as sharing on social medias. We called her 20 minutes after drop off telling her a family member just reached out hoping to get him for their home so he could stay in the family. Her response was "we don't give dogs back" even though he'd only been there less such a short time. We tried again a couple days later and asked if we could pay her for the time he has spent there (less than 3 days). We were told a short "no". She also advertised with false information being that he has no health problems when she was told he has epilepsy, and that he needs a home without children when in fact we told her repeatedly that he loves everyone including children, just that he is used to having someone around all the time so a senior would be better. This woman and her "rescue" has lost all respect from our family and friends. If we were running a rescue and a family member wanted that dog back, there would be no questions asked. These people should be ashamed of themselves.
