Poor customer service. I have been shopping at Urban Canine for 2 years. Anytime I go in there and ask their advice on food or treat, they have never been able to give me advice or help me. I get a lot of "I'm not sure" or "I don't know" from Urban Canine staff. Their prices on toys and some treats are also over priced. I understand the quality of the treats and toys but they are usually the highest priced (for same brands) in town. I keep shopping here just out of convenience because it close to me. The reason for the one star is my most recent interaction with their staff, which has put me over the edge with them. I bought a pig ear 3 days ago from Urban Canine. I have bought probably 6-10 of these from here and my dog DEVOURS them in a day- as he's gotten bigger it's more like in an hour. This pig ear had some weird coloring (green spots) and it was a very weird texture. My dog would smell the treat and walk away. Or finally would try to chew on it but clearly did not like something about it. The texture of the ear was also very weird. It just was clearly not like any of the previous pig ears. I went to UC today to just see if I could swap it out for a new one. I've been a loyal customer for years, spent lots of money there, and again have bought many pig ears. The guy working said because it's a chewable, he could not return the item. I told him I 100% understand why and also the policy but there's clearly something wrong.l with this pig ear. My dog won't touch it. I shoes it to the guy and he even said "yeah this does look really weird." So I said again, can I just swap this for a new one? He proceeded to keep arguing with me and finally said "ok what do you want me to do? How can I make this right?" And I said again, "please just let me swap this out for a new one. You can look up my purchase history. I can show you the receipt and show I bought this 3 days ago. You can see how many of these I buy from you." And he said again "I can't do that because it's a chewable." I ended up grabbing the treat and leaving. I did say "it's probably not worth you guys losing a loyal customer over $2.50." I've worked in customer service for YEARS. I was the store manager of a clothing store for years. I understand customer service. I also understand policy and return policies. But there are exceptions. That pig ear was defective which even the sales associate admitted too, and yet he was unwilling to do anything over it. That's not good customer service. I won't be going back there. read more

I was having a rough time with my puppy, but Josh said some very helpful things and was very kind. Helped turn the day around.

We are new to the area and were sent here by a co worker. As soon as we came through the door the ladies at the front desk were ready to help with what we needed. We have a dog with and allergy problem and the staff here gave us great recommendations on products that would be suitable for him. They went above and beyond to inform us on each product and helped us get the right one. I will be a return customer for sure, it is hard to find people that are that passionate about their job nowadays. read more

Great store, has the best dog food brands and plenty of options. Lady working was super friendly and very knowledgable about breeds and nutrition. My dog gobbled down her orijen food I purchased here as if it was a carrot cake. I purchased orijen kibble with orijen raw freeze dried to use as a topper for the kibble, I usually put a little human food on top for her but I was recently told her breed is prone to diabetes and kidney stones so I wanted to clean up her diet as much as possible. The ingredients list is so good I know she's getting everything she needs to be a healthy girl, but she thinks it's a treat. They also have plenty of accessories, collars, harnesses, toys even life vests and cat stuff as well. This is definitely a great place to go if you want to have a healthy pet, especially if you aren't sure the best way to about that. read more

This place is great! Very friendly staff with great recommendations. I bought high quality cat kibble here and they gave me free samples of all the flavors of the brand I bought. I was also looking for a cat chew treat much like dogs have cat raw hides and bones that last a while. She gave me a free sample of a cod skin chew. I will definitely be back and recommend to anyone who loves to spoil their pets. read more

I love to snoop in this place whenever I happen to be around. I recently switched my dog's food to Fromm, and had ordered online at a different retailer. Out of curiosity, I decided to check if they carried Fromm brand at Urban Canine, and sure enough they did! Other than that, they have a lot of cute stuff and other quality brands to check out. I need to frequent this place more often (or less often, because I always leave with buying things I don't need! Haha!). read more

I brought my Dog, Macie in to find a new collar. While shopping the owner gave my dog a new treat and she loved it. She was so kind and polite and not pushy at all. I asked her if she had a small bag of the treats so I could see how my dog likes them over the weekend. I was visiting from Tampa and didn't want to carry a large bag of doggie treats home. She just gave me a small sack of them and gave me the name and brand so I could buy local when I got home. My dog loves the treats so much and the owner was so friendly I came back to the store and bought the treats anyway. She deserved the sale. Not someone in Tampa. Great place to get good heathy food for your pet. They are very knowledgeable about all kinds of food, and very nice and helpful.

I absolutely love love love this place!!! And so does my puppy. (Now 16 week old yellow lab) when I first got my pup at 6 weeks she was ill, throwing up and diarrhea, I explained my situation to the owner of the shop, she recommended Nutrisource dog food and gave me tons of samples and treats for my pup to try. She spent time with me and walked around the store showing me different toys and treats my pup might like. The hospitality really sold me on this little shop and even though it might be slightly more spendy than petsmart or petco, I come here for the customer service. Since my great first impression visit I've been back several times. The other employees are also great. Will totally recommend people to visit and bring in their pups! Great atmosphere! read more

Urban Canine get total credit for saving the life of our cat. She was so sick that she was hiding waiting to die. All I had to do was explain what was going on with our cat, and they sold us the right food for her, and now at age she 14, she is running around the house and enjoying life again. read more

Great products and nice store, however I won't shop there again after an employee commented that since my corgi puppy had a bit of a tail she must have come from a back yard breeder. I found that incredibly offensive being that she is a part of our family and we had no intentions of breeding her. Absolutely my favorite pet store! Close to home with knowledgeable staff. Love to chat with the store manager when I see her. A very welcoming place to shop in. You can find a high quality food that you can't find elsewhere. It is better to shop local! In addition, one of my BC's just turned 14 and I was in the store to purchase him some goodies.
