Food was absolutely amazing! It was packed with a bunch of flavor and a kick of spice in each bite! I went to Jamaica last year and the food really reminded me of my short but amazing time there! The service was amazing and the place was super clean! There was a welcoming environment when I first walked in which provided a safe atmosphere! I really recommend eating here! What I do say is if you are eating here, you have to order one main course per person, which means if you want to share, you are going to have to share each person's meal. read more

There were thirteen of us, we managed to get a booking at short notice here, which subsequently turned out because no one else was eating here. The service was a farce, with the waiter taking away cutlery, bringing it back, taking plates away, bringing them back, it would have been comical if it haven't taken so long to order and get served. I had the supposedly pulled pork, which was a slick of pork with the sauce mash and red cabbage tasty but not what was described on the menu, one of our group had to wait until we had nearly all finished as they got his order for a pizza wrong. 02.04.12 My husband is Jamaican and we were going up to Dornoch in Sutherland for a break from 17-19 March 2012 to celebrate both of our birthdays. (David 18/3 & mine 19/3). Never having been to the area before, I had no concept of how far it was from Inverness! Turned out it was over 50 miles and on an A road too plus crossing over at least 3 major bridges! Hey ho! I spoke to Glenroy before leaving West Dunbartonshire & he said that his food is of the essence. Having recently lost my own mother, I didn't fancy anywhere with a Mother's day theme going on! This was great and having read various degrees of comments on the internet about this place, plus the BYOB them, thought "Just do it"! On arrival, there were four other people there, but turned out only 2 were customers. 1 was a friend and the other was the waitress. Very good music playing (Peter Tosh album), but it was on repeat so by the time we left, we had heard every song about 3 times. When I got the wine out, I was told that they don't actually do the BYOB any more but allowed me to use my own as he didn't have any drinks on the menu that I would drink. My husband had 1 small bud (his own) as he had the long drive back to the hotel to do after eating. The food however was terrific and Glenroy is an excellent host! We started with the soup of the day, which was carrot & was very tasty and very hot (a particular requirement of ours - but there had been no need to make the request). Round two, I asked if I could have acki & saltfish as a main course & it was served with a bit of salad and fried plantain slices & dumplings! Delicious! David opted for the traditional curried goat with rice and peas and calaloo. He said that it was almost as good as his mum makes and thoroughly enjoyed every grain! I had a dessert too which was crème brulee & it was served very prettily. All good stuff. The tastecard discount on the food brought it down to about £16 for the both of us and it was worth double that. Nicely done Janice for the choice for a birthday tea! Only thing was the distance travelled to get here. Also, the place was not nearly as busy enough as it deserves to be. There was one other group of 3 girls who came in while we were there and they were only having sandwich type snacks. Hope business picks up in the forthcoming festival and high season. This place is amazing. I had the jerk chicken and my boyfriend had the haggis stuffed chicken. Both were huge portions for the price. Our cocktails were hand made and wonderful. We asked the owner/head chef to suggest an appetizer, and we were not disappointed when he cooked up a Native Caribbean fish dish. This restaurant is a real gem!! read more

This was a really nice find during my short stay in Inverness. This is Scotland's first Caribbean restaurant. I used to live in Brixton and Manchester and in both places I used to eat Caribbean food whenever I could. The gentleman who owns the restaurant is very friendly and very proud of his business and I wish him all the very best. He deserves to succeed. I decided to eat here for lunch and there was a really great deal of soup and a sandwich for £3.50. I could not believe my luck. I asked for a veggie filling to my sandwich and let him concoct something for me. He put a great deal of imagination into it and I had a really yummy lunch. Topped off with a ginger beer. read more

Randomly came across this gem on my way back from isle of Skye. As much as I love British/Scottish pub food, I needed something different. This place hit the spot! Quite well done, even compared to larger-city establishments in Canada and USA. Highly recommend the beef patties, and jerk chicken! read more

My wife and I came here somewhat on a whim, and it turned out to be terrific. It's a fun change from the normal pubs and such. They have a great rum selection, and the food was excellent. They have a solid vegetarian menu, if you're of the persuasion. I had the okra and callalloo, with fried plantains and red beans & rice. It was rich and tasty. My wife had the gnocchi, which had an awesome roasted vegetables flavor throughout. My husband and I traveled around Scotland recently for our honeymoon. We were in Inverness three nights and ate at Kool Runnings every night! It was that good! I recommend getting anything that comes with plantains. I also got the sea bass dish one night - that was my favorite. Check out the cocktails too. The zombie is delicious and strong. Firstly, the place didn't open until nearly 30 minutes after listed hours. The shopkeeper next door says the owner is very inconsistent, always opening late and sometimes not at all. Once it had opened, the purple haired girl I saw waiting across the street ended up being the server. She was super friendly and we really enjoyed talking with her and the long-haired male bartender. My boyfriend ordered the seafood jambalaya and raved about it. We ordered the "coconut battered" chicken tenders but all we tasted was fryer oil and the texture was not that of coconut. I ordered the Combo Meaty and it was horribly overcooked and really small in size. It's like they made mine and rhen made his. It took 30+ minutes to get our food as well. Since my meat was essentially rawhide on the bone, I was still hungry and ordered the chefs fried ice cream which was like an half inch thick of batter and only a small ball of ice cream inside. The best part was the sweet potato wedges to be honest. So in summary, great server, great sweet potato wedges, and decent jambalaya but everything else is a huge disappointment read more

Absolutely delicious!!! Yes I realize I'm in Scotland but two weeks of haggis- fish and chips- and potatoes can leave me needing something with a little more kick. This place was just that! Pretty good prices, (I'm a backpacker and tight on money) good size portions, and so dang tasty! Definitely a place I would recommend! read more

We are of Trinidadian descent and we were pleasantly surprised​ (after eating delicious haggis and smoked fish for several days) to find good carribean food in Inverness. We had the callaloo and okra. Okra is not for everyone, so if you haven't had it before it probably isn't a good choice for your first visit. read more

I really wanted to like this place but came away disappointed. I had the goat curry which consisted of a few chunks of bone with a bit of meat attached in a blandish sauce served up with a small portion of tired rice. Must try harder. read more
