Came across this by chance and enjoyed very much. Reception was a little cold (hurried perhaps), maybe because they were very busy, but after that service (it ting at the bar) was very good. Started with some delicious olives, then tapas one with chorizo (a little oily?) and one with breaded calamari. Thereafter we had a paella valeciana (sp?) which I thought was very good but my wife thought could do with a little more protein. Finally a very good and moist almond slice with a good cappuccino. I'd probably give 5 * but in deference to my better half have shown 4. Nevertheless highly recommended

First thing's first - Inverness is a hell-hole. It is filled entirely with charity shops and pubs you'd never go in, it's grey, windy and generally makes you want to die. However, there is one bright spot, and one bright spot alone and that is La Tortilla. Having traipsed the grey streets for what felt like an eternity trying to find somewhere to eat at tea time on a Saturday, we finally stumbled upon La Tortilla on our way back to our hotel. We walked in, asked if they could squeeze us in and happily, they seated us right away in a cosy corner of the room. Our waitress whose name I didn't get was lovely - very friendly, polite and efficient (she also had really cool blonde hair with green dip-dyed ends). We were utterly ravenous, and ordered a selection of tapas whilst we waited for our Barcelona paella. The highlights were the meatballs, the croquettes and the garlic chicken - I could have eaten about 3,000 of those croquettes, they were absolutely delicious. Dear reader, I'm not ashamed to say we had a second round of tapas, which we'd just polished off when the paella arrived. This was served in the traditional paella pan, and was the perfect serving for two. It was really a fantastic dish and much better than any of the paellas I've tried when in Spain. The chicken was really moist and tender and the rice was perfection. Even though we'd eaten enough tapas to feed a family, and polished off two jugs of sangria (also delicious), there was no way I was leaving without having some churros! I am glad I squeezed them in as they were light, fluffy on the inside, crunchy on the outside and not in the least bit greasy. Utterly perfect. Our bill for what was an absolute feast came to £103 and I would be more than happy to do it all again! What a great find this place is - I am only sorry it's in Inverness where I hope never to visit again.

I was in Inverness by my lonesome, and my spanish husband remembered this spanish dig and so I ambled my way along the river and near the castle to push into the warmth of their hospitality. The place is cute due to the wall of wine that has been labeled by odd and hilarious descriptors (see my photo). Otherwise it is plain but sturdy looking. The one waitress didn't come to ask after me for nearly fifteen minutes, during which I debated walking myself into a neighboring house of better repute; but later explaining my impatience to dear husband would irritate me, and so I sat irritatedly waiting. I went for simple spanish fare: tortilla and paella. It was edible, and so I ate about half of it. But it had the spice of nothing and the flavor of boring that really left a bad impression on me. The wine was good.

There's something that draws me into this place-it's informal, welcoming, you can smack or have a full meal, the staff are friendly. The chiperones are fantastic so I hope they get them on the main menu. I can also recommend the Gambas pil pil, jamon, sizzling chicken and battered prawns. I'm glad they reduced the menu now because it tastes fresher. The patatas bravas sauce needs a bit of oomph but besides that it's pretty positive. They do 2 tapas for £5 at lunch mon-fri.

Stopped here for a quick lunch with my hubby, they have lot's of different tapas options on their menu and during lunch there is a sort of deal if you ask 5 tapas then gets a discount, not so sure, ask the waitress. Service was good and quick as we wanted. I had vegetarian paella, and soup of the day which was carrot and coriander, my hubby ordered garlic mushrooms, patties bravas and a chicken tapa that a forgot the name. The best of all was the soup, the paella rice was overcooked and lacking in flavour. Patties bravas were ok but the spicy sauce was not spicy at all and just seemed to be mayo and a pinch of some sort of chilli sauce. Mushrooms were fine.. missing more flavour too. At least it all tasted fresh which is a good thing. Wouldn't come back again though.. such a shame because I love spanish food.

I had dinner by myself here on my trip to Scotland and it was phenomenal! Super friendly and efficient service and each thing I ordered was amazing. I ordered some shrimp, the mushrooms, and the meatballs and it was all delicious. I'd highly recommend this place on your visit to Inverness!

Amazing food! One of the best dinners we had our whole trip! Restaurant is small, but if you go early, it's still pretty quiet.

Hands down the best meal we ate in Inverness. We had the meatballs, the mushroom, the salad. Everything was very tasty.

It's not often that my husband and I will exclaim "I LOVE this spot!", but that's exactly what we…read moredid after dining here on our first night in Inverness. Everyone we encountered was friendly and welcoming. We were shown right to a table near the windows, offered drink menus, given the daily specials (for food and cocktails). We both ordered a pint (I was stoked to find they had Belhaven on tap!), and the Haggis & Steak Meatballs to start. After a bit of deliberation, I ordered the Pan-Fried Sea Bass for my main, and my husband went with the Slow Roasted Venison Haunch. The meatballs came out first and looked different than I expected. There were three meatballs served in a bowl of a cream sauce, accompanied by two bread slices and a small side salad. I was able to taste the haggis, which was a nice surprise. The haggis flavor didn't overpower the meatball, which in turn was given a nice creamy-herby flavor from the sauce. The salad that came with it was nice and light, and served with kale chips, giving it an extra bit of crunch and flavor. My entree was phenomenal. The Asian-inspired sauce that was drizzled over the fish and noodles added a nice flair to the flavor, without taking away from the flavor of the fish (sea bass is my favorite fish, after all). I was worried that the noodles wouldn't work with the dish overall, but it did turn out very well. The noodles were perfectly cooked and paired with al dente vegetable straws. Everything had a splash of the sauce, which tied it all together. My husband also immensely enjoyed his meal. He said that the venison was perfectly cooked and that the different sauces were all delicious. To be fair, he did say that he originally thought there were too many sauces on the plate, but once it was in front of him, and he was shoveling it into his face, he understood that they all worked together. An appetizer, an entree each, and two pints of beer per person later, we decided that we had to try their sticky toffee pudding. I'm not sure why we thought it was a good idea (other than the vague recollection of a vow I made before we even left the States, saying that I would eat sticky toffee pudding at every establishment that offered it), but we were glad we ordered it. I mean, we were full up and ready to 'splode, but we were glad we ordered it. Their pudding is served in a square, with a scoop of ice cream and warm caramel. It was the perfect ending to the most fantastic meal we had on this trip. We came very close to going back on our last night in town, as well, but wanted to try something different (in reality, we would've been much better off had we come back to The Ivy, but you live and learn.) I hope others stop in to try their wonderful entrees and fun cocktails. I want this restaurant to succeed so that when we return to Inverness, we have a place to go for a great meal!

To be honest they have "Bar" first in their name so I should have lowered my expectations but wife on the verge of snapping at me, decided to go with it. Ordered and the food took a long time to arrive. I am all for slow food but any longer and the wife would have been storming out of there. Wife ordered the Scottish Salmon Special for £17. It was well cooked but not an especially creative dish. Actually, most of the menu looked uninspired. The salmon came with mashed potatoes and a creamy sauce that had no ambition. I was a bit bored with the menu so just went with the Ivy Burger. I asked for onion rings instead of chips (fries). Unfortunately the waitress didn't quite comprehend and I got chips and onion rings. The onion rings looked outstanding but sadly the rings were cold and oily. As soon as I touched the burger I knew it was going to be mediocre. The bun, though grilled was dense and close to crumbly. The burger was room temperature and bland. Even the haggis topping didn't distinguish it. Had to ask for some ketchup for my chips, wish they had some curry sauce. There was a tiny cup of slaw which was possibly the best part of the meal, a larger portion would have helped tremendously. Overall, get drinks here but pass on the food.o
