I was a bit uneasy when I dropped-off my car this morning by not seeing familiar faces anymore, but that quickly melted away. The receptionist was cordial, easy to work with, and was careful with everything. To my surprise, I received a text message about what was going on with the car outside of needing an oil change and the incurred charges. When I authorized it, I got a phone call later on that it would need a new engine air filter, too, and once again, was given a price quote up-front, and said they'll order the part and it will be installed in ASAP. I received both a text message AND a phone call that the car was ready, which was super nice that they covered both bases. When I arrived and was being charged out, I was happy to see that Tim is still working in the shop, and he recognized me. They lucked out that he stayed on-board, as he did amazing work with my previous car. I will say I was fortunate that they took care of my car, as they wanted to reschedule my appointment for another time, but they were kind enough to look at it anyways because I was about to do a road trip to Southern California to visit my mom. I appreciate they were still able to do the work, and I have peace of mind I can travel safely. We had 4 cars we took there and always had confidence in the work. Jon's gone and I'm stunned with the change in service now. They don't offer an online list out of items inspected including pictures showing what they've found, and recommendations for work needing to be done. They don't text you with an estimate. They don't call if you need something replaced; you find out only after you show up. The customer service is gone. But it's worse than that. But what really shocked me up was opening up the hood of my car to add some washer fluid only to notice the air filter housing was still unclipped, which seemed negligent. But opening the housing I discovered the air filter was missing entirely! They serviced my car 5000 miles ago and my car didn't have an air filter put in. I was just planning on taking it in for service but it won't be with them now. I'm livid! I'm done with Diablo Auto Specialists, or Autoworx or whatever name change is going on there. I would never go back and would highly discourage anyone else from going there.

For a car as basic and common as a Ford Focus, that didn't sit right with me. What was more disappointing was the overall experience. The communication wasn't helpful, and the attitude felt dismissive rather than solution-oriented. If you're going to charge that much for diagnosis, I would expect clearer answers or at least some guidance on next steps. It also felt like their focus has shifted since moving locations. There seemed to be a lot of attention on vintage and specialty vehicles, and less interest in helping someone with a standard daily driver. At this point, I'm getting a second opinion because I don't feel confident in the diagnosis or the value of the service provided.

Mileage 250k+ ( We had just went through the 4Runner mechanically; water pump, timing belt, full tuneup, oil leaks, and intake / valve cover gaskets. When it came to the transmission. We noticed slipping after long rides and we were looking for options. Of course we went to Yelp as to see reviews because we knew transmission work is completed and can be very pricey... Honestly, shops were asking for more money than our 4Runner was worth. Gil was quick with replies and communication, greatly appreciated. Gils price was competitive and because of his reviews we chose to do business with Transmatic Transmission. Openly, I did not write a review until our 4Runner started making noises about 7-8 months after repair at TT. I reached out to Gil as he even gave us his cell phone number and still communication was on point and appreciated. He said "no worries, bring it back and I'll take a look." We towed it back, Gil received our 4Runner without us needing to be present. Gil then repaired our transmission, stood by his warranty and really took care of us without question.
