The piercer, a white woman with black hair, was unfriendly and came across as snarky and rude from the very beginning. Instead of taking my friend to a private area, she had her lift up her shirt in the lobby. She then had her sit on the couch, looked her up and down, shook her head, and told her she was "too fat" for a belly button piercing and that she didn't have the right anatomy. Whether or not someone is a candidate for a piercing, there is a respectful and professional way to communicate that. The way she spoke to my friend was humiliating and unnecessarily hurtful. My friend already struggles with body image, and hearing those comments from another woman left her feeling embarrassed and ashamed. Watching someone treat another person that way was upsetting. After leaving, we went to another piercing shop, where the piercer evaluated her professionally and completed the piercing without any issues. We were also told that the interaction we experienced at True Art Tattoo was handled in a very unprofessional manner. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend True Art Tattoo. We encountered rudeness, body shaming, and a complete lack of compassion and professionalism. No customer should leave feeling belittled over their body.

The front desk staff was so sweet and easily helped me get in on my one off day. I was placed with the super talented Brian Anthony for my tattoo. I went in to get writing on my thighs in Old English font. I showed him my reference photo and within a few minutes he came back with the perfect font, and we were off. He took his time and carefully made sure the writing was even since the writing is split over both of my legs. After a couple of reajuste he sat me down and started. Brian was so nice and he worked super quickly, he made me feel very comfortable and we shared several laughs throughout the process which is always a plus. This was a breakup tattoo for myself and I couldn't be happier with it. I talked with him about my other leg tattoos, because I know I'll be in such good hands and the product will be amazing. The girl at the front desk was extremely pleasant (both times I was there), which somehow helped calm my nervousness about meeting with the doc for my first tattoo removal. I met with Dr Kates, who was so cool and easy going, which again really helped me stay calmer than I wanted to feel. (The anticipation is the worst!) She explained the hows and whys of the procedure asked if I wanted to get to it right then and there, explained that it would take 15min *tops*, but unfortunately I had to come back another day. When I came back a few days later, same great, low key, this-is-no-big-deal experience and the process of lasering my tattoo away took so little time, I was floored. Honestly, I don't think I could have had a better experience. Also I have to say the fact that they offer discounts for tattoo removal for people joining the military is so awesome.
