Other shops in Cleveland might be more popular, but Black Metal is the BEST. I feel blessed to have this talent in our area, especially piercer Chris and artist Chad. (My arm by Chad is the Maleficent half-sleeve in the photos from 2014!) The shop is pristine & the guys here are goofy professionals playing loud music who care about making art on your body. You'll receive instructions on how the procedures will go and how to best care for your work when it's finished. I've gotten work done elsewhere on the West Side of Cleveland that healed like garbage -- that will never be the case at Black Metal. A serious gem about a mile West of South Park.

Smelled clean and environment was pleasing to the eye, being artfully decorated and brightly lit. Alicia (owner/piercer) is super friendly, professional, a great listener, very accommodating & knowledgeable. She changed out my rook from stainless steel curved barbell (my body doesn't like SS & still slightly swollen after 4mos bc of metal & barbell) to a dainty 8mm hinged hoop & my upper helix (3yrs healed) from push stud flatback to an adorable 6mm hinged hoop with bling. It was pierced wrong at an angle (from another shop); hoops hide the wonkiness. Both pieces are implant grade titanium, which my body accepts & surprisingly, not every shop carry this. She can also order something if there's a piece you like. My stack is looking great; love my new pieces. She doesn't charge for switching out (nor any á la carte service), only for the jewelry ~ something rarely seen anymore. She's willing to help switch out to retainers for my upcoming surgery and back again at no charge (of course, I tip)! Her customer service is above par and I HIGHLY recommend. Greatly appreciate her. Do not hesitate to book! Sweet demeanor if you have a child or are a bit nervous. Just, go!

I don't normally post negative reviews, but my experience with Kosta at SanVita Tattoo & Gallery…read morewas disappointing enough that I felt it was important to share. I chose Kosta because I genuinely liked his work and his reviews are stellar. Kosta personally selected the appointment date, to which I suggested a noon start that he accepted. I took the afternoon off, rearranged my work schedule to accommodate it, including declining an important meeting requested by my company's CEO. I took the commitment seriously and expected the same consideration in return. At approximately 9:45 AM on the morning of my appointment, Kosta sent me the first design mock-up. It included underlines and white outlines that weren't intended to be part of the actual tattoo, making it difficult to visualize the finished design. While I was working, I spent time looking through those details, and within 1 1/2 hours gave him the thumbs up on the design. Then, at approximately 11:20 AM, just 40 minutes before my scheduled appointment, Kosta canceled. He explained that he had squeezed me into another client's appointment time because he thought my tattoo would be straightforward. He claimed he couldn't risk running late for that client because it was "technically her day". This was particularly frustrating because Kosta never told me I was being squeezed into someone else's appointment. Had he been upfront about that, I would never have agreed to the arrangement. I also had a confirmed appointment, not a tentative opening dependent on another client's schedule. Kosta apologized and acknowledged that he had overbooked himself, then offered to reschedule approximately a month later. I subsequently sent him a text message explaining my disappointment and the inconvenience his last-minute cancellation caused. He never responded, so I emailed him and there was also no acknowledgment or follow-up. What bothers me most is the double standard. Clients are expected to respect his schedule and provide advance notice when canceling, yet my appointment was canceled with only 40 minutes' notice because of his scheduling decision. I want to be clear that this review isn't about his artistic ability, and I can't comment on the quality of a completed tattoo because the appointment never happened. It's about his lack of professionalism, communication, and respect for someone else's time. Unfortunately, the way this appointment was handled, followed by the lack of communication afterward, Kosta completely undermined my trust. Based on my experience, I am not rescheduling and would not recommend booking with Kosta.
