My friend and I went to True Art Tattoo for a belly button piercing, and from the moment we walked…read morein, the experience was disappointing. The piercer, a white woman with black hair, was unfriendly and came across as snarky and rude from the very beginning. Instead of taking my friend to a private area, she had her lift up her shirt in the lobby. She then had her sit on the couch, looked her up and down, shook her head, and told her she was "too fat" for a belly button piercing and that she didn't have the right anatomy. Whether or not someone is a candidate for a piercing, there is a respectful and professional way to communicate that. The way she spoke to my friend was humiliating and unnecessarily hurtful. My friend already struggles with body image, and hearing those comments from another woman left her feeling embarrassed and ashamed. Watching someone treat another person that way was upsetting. After leaving, we went to another piercing shop, where the piercer evaluated her professionally and completed the piercing without any issues. We were also told that the interaction we experienced at True Art Tattoo was handled in a very unprofessional manner. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend True Art Tattoo. We encountered rudeness, body shaming, and a complete lack of compassion and professionalism. No customer should leave feeling belittled over their body.

The store was very cute and comfortable and clean. All things you want when getting a piercing! I saw the techs clean the headrests/chairs between client's which was appreciated. It was steady with business, but we didn't have to wait long at all. The piercing nurse tech walked us through the options and answered all our questions, speaking with confidence and expertise. She also made my niece feel comfortable! When she was done, they gave her an adorable certificate and sucker. The earrings are all hypoallergenic, which is also fantastic. 5/5 for sure!! Highly recommend. Please note: It is a little pricey, but worth it.

Unfortunately, the actual experience and product quality were a completely different story. During my child's piercing, the needle struck her skull, causing her head to bleed. I understand that piercing a child's ears can be challenging, but having the needle make contact with her head to the point of causing bleeding was extremely concerning and upsetting. Then there's the jewelry. Considering the very high price, I expected the earrings to be much better quality. Instead, we had one earring repeatedly falling off the post, and the other eventually snapped right at the base. So, essentially, we paid premium prices for jewelry that performed like something you'd find at a dollar store. The staff were nice, and the facility was clean, but unfortunately that doesn't make up for the experience or the poor quality of the earrings. For the price Rowan charges, I expected significantly better quality and reliability.

The associate did a fantastic job marking my daughter's ears, then had us check the placement. She made sure that my daughter was held down by us so she was still, then did the piercings. The baby did cry, but forgot about it 30 seconds after the second ear!! We got verbal and written care instructions before leaving. The only costs were the earrings ($30-50 for 14k gold) and the cleaning solution ($3). I'd definitely recommend this location for baby ear piercing.
