My friend and I went to True Art Tattoo for a belly button piercing, and from the moment we walked in, the experience was disappointing. The piercer, a white woman with black hair, was unfriendly and came across as snarky and rude from the very beginning. Instead of taking my friend to a private area, she had her lift up her shirt in the lobby. She then had her sit on the couch, looked her up and down, shook her head, and told her she was "too fat" for a belly button piercing and that she didn't have the right anatomy. Whether or not someone is a candidate for a piercing, there is a respectful and professional way to communicate that. The way she spoke to my friend was humiliating and unnecessarily hurtful. My friend already struggles with body image, and hearing those comments from another woman left her feeling embarrassed and ashamed. Watching someone treat another person that way was upsetting. After leaving, we went to another piercing shop, where the piercer evaluated her professionally and completed the piercing without any issues. We were also told that the interaction we experienced at True Art Tattoo was handled in a very unprofessional manner. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend True Art Tattoo. We encountered rudeness, body shaming, and a complete lack of compassion and professionalism. No customer should leave feeling belittled over their body. read more

Based solely on phone call earlier, they charge á la carte for piercings, even if I bought new jewelry, they charge to put it in if I needed. So, I imagine a new piercing that will need downsized in 6 weeks would also be charged. They did this at the former shop I went to and was grossly overcharged, so this is a solid no. I get it's a business, but gouging is not okay. Found my forever piercer today at a different shop and that's a huge win. This is a real review, not paid and not from competition. I read previous comments from owner. SMH. EDIT: perhaps you should read. I said "gouging" and never was I offered $5, only $10 for each time something was done. Even if I bought jewelry from you or got pierced, I was told each and every time it's a charge. That's gouging and poor customer service. It's also in poor taste to blast a customer. Had I read the comments prior to calling, I'd had known to not bother as I wouldn't do business with you. The last piercer did just as you do: charge for everything. All told, I spent $50 with downsizing several piercings and had bought new pieces as well. Plus, she improperly angled my helix. Never again with her nor your business. I DID find a great person with SUPERIOR customer service that did what I needed, I ended up buying 2 new pieces and tipped well. That place will 100% get my business. I was in salon business for 27yrs and did the little things that paid huge dividends. Yes, I gave some service complimentary. Word of mouth is king in service industry. My friend and I did a walk in appointment on a Friday evening thinking we'd only get a consult due to it being last minute. The receptionist was incredibly kind and welcoming, very attentive and willing to relay messages to the artist to ensure he'd be able to tattoo what we wanted. We waited around 30 minutes in the very clean and calm lobby which has tinted windows to create a cozy but private setting. Marquise was our tattoo artist and he was so kind, very patient, and quick with a steady hand! He was able to knock two arm tattoos out in about an hour which was impressive. The quality is amazing, the line work is stunning, and the pricing was great. I highly recommend this shop as they're very kind, clean, and ready to help any way they can to ensure you receive a tattoo you'll love. read more

She told me I was welcome to come in and see if one of the artists could help me. When I arrived Riley offered to do my tattoo. It is a very emotional but small tattoo for me. I really appreciate several things about True Art Tattoos. The receptionist and check-in process were clear and easy, most of it electronic. The place has a nice vibe to it and is funky/cool. Scott, our tattoo artist was funny, kind, and professional with our 16 year old daughter. He helped her get exactly what she wanted and made the process very clear as it was her first tattoo. Scott welcomed photos (see attached) and worked quickly. When we went to pay, here's where things were just a bit frustrating. They are a cash establishment, but will take your credit card with an 18% service fee, which seems excessive. I wish that was something they'd say up front. I used their ATM, with a $3.50 service fee, as opposed to a $16 credit/debit card charge. Also, we had to ask for a receipt (they did say life time touch ups were free), as we were not automatically given one, and the one we were given was hand written from a generic receipt book. That just struck me as odd for a place that had an electronic check in process. So that back end was tough, and that merited four stars instead of five, but the quality and professionalism is all there at True Art Tattoos. Just make sure you bring cash! read more

Reiley had 'fixed' some small tattoos (the four elements and pentagram) that someone in another tattoo shop had done poorly. She refreshed the colours, and helped me select the perfect colours as well. I went back to her yesterday for an outline piece, to connect the element tattoos. She re-did the drawing multiple times - worked with me to get something that worked and that I now wear and love! She took her time, and I value that - she's very professional and also fun (she's a Sagittarius!). Super disappointed in this place. I asked all the questions, online and by phone the days and week prior. I Was told the day before we walked in,over the phone, I'd be able to bring my minor daughter in for her piercing on the following day since they had a piercer available all day. Confirmed I didn't need an appointment, and asked which forms of ID I needed. I tried to take my daughter after school on her birthday for a piercing and was rudely met by the receptionist, with a NO. Their piercer wasn't in. No apologizes for any miscommunication or letting us know when we could come back. Even after visibly seeing my upset daughter, the receptionist didn't even move out of her chair. Bummed. UPDATE- Manager called and apologized for the miscommunication. He was able to get my daughter into the studio that same evening for her piercing. Yesterday I went in as a walk in. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. I was told it would be about 20 minutes before an artist would be available to see me. So I went and sat down. Omg don't sit on the couch you will sink haha I managed to get back up and sit on a regular chair. The shop itself is very clean and they have tons of art on the walls as well as a tv monitor with some of the ink that has been done. It's a very large shop. They do piercings also. Kelly came out and introduced himself, he was very friendly and we talked about what I wanted tattooed. I showed him the pics I had on my phone, he asked me to airdrop them to him so he could use it as a reference to draw up my tattoo. About 10 minutes later he came out and showed me the drawing. He even modified my female cat to look more feminine. He made the cat silhouettes similar but different in the aspect that one of my cats is male and the other is a female. I love the way it came out and the placement fit perfectly between some other tattoos I already had. His area is very clean and he was very thorough when explaining each step and colors of ink he was planning to use, etc. overall it was a great experience. This was my 14th tattoo. Ronnie gets 5 stars, the shop overall-4. Ronnie is an undiscovered genius! I say undiscovered, because I was able to walk in, and get an appointment with him. Other tattoo artists around town charge twice as much, and have waiting lists going weeks, or even months into the future. Ronnie is a true professional, and the excitement he had for the design he helped me create made me glad I had chosen him as my artist. His fine detail work is incredible, and I am eager to get the piece finished and shaded in. I was visiting friends from out of town,we thought it would be great to go get some tattoos. We found this shop under the impression of better reviews- so we called in to make sure they could see us. We were told yes,as they accept walk ins,so we traveled an entire hour to this shop. We get to the shop,the girl at the front reception was extremely rude. We gave our designs and were told to have a seat and an artist would be out. We sat for an hour,waiting. Finally a male artist comes out,already looking at his watch with an attitude and proceeds to tell us he doesn't have time for both small tattoos. Just one. Not only did we travel an hour to your shop, we then spent an hour waiting just for someone to turn us away. Your employees need major training on customer service,and time management. Why would we not be notified sooner than an hour after sitting in your waiting area that they didn't "have time" now. Rude and highly disappointing. read more

Phenomenal experience from beginning to end. The ladies at the front desk were so nice and efficient. Myself and my 2 nieces got tattoos and my nephew got his ears pierced. The piercer, I forgot her name, was great; she also helped me with changing out some of my jewelry. We were super lucky to get Bee as our tattoo artist because he is completely booked for a couple months - that should be a clear indication of how great he is. Becareful leaving a deposit, I got a tattoo which the artist and artwork was great and was going to get come back to get touch ups, the lady at the counter insisted that I should make another reservation and deposit, I told her I wasn't sure because my work schedule. The ONLY reason this shop is getting a 2 instead of a 1 star rating is because the piercer was so quick and efficient that I hardly felt ANY pain when he did my nose. Even 24 hours later the pain is virtually not there. However, we were never shown or walked through the sterile needles or jewelery. I asked him for an 18g nose ring MULTIPLE times, I needed it to match the one I already had. He was not personable, you could tell he just wanted to get this over with. It was the worst eexperience I've ever had at a shop. So i looked in the mirror after it was done and not only is it a 20g but it's about 3 sizes TOO BIG for my nose. It looks absolutely AWFUL. I made multiple comments about how this was not going to fly because this HUGE obnoxious thing is hanging off of my face and can clearly be seen when I turn my head(not okay for my job). Nose rings are supposed to HUG the nostril not hang off by an inch. WTF. He made some stupid comments back and didn't seem to care at all, said the only thing that could be done was to repierce my nose. He sends us to the desk stating that she will give us aftercare information and the front desk girl doesn't give us any type of information AT ALL. Just takes our money. Because I have worked for tips before I can't leave without giving one (whether they deserve it or not) and NO ONE IN THE SHOP HAD CHANGE!! How do you run a business that accepts cash WITHOUT CHANGE?! PLEASE don't be fooled by the high reviews that you see. The turnover rate in shops is so high the people that are getting the positive reviews probably don't even work there any longer. If you've read this far, go some where more professional and helpful. Having something look this awful on your face is not I want to happen to anyone else. read more
