Our favorite kolache shop! I've been here a number of times for breakfasts, lunches, and order pickups for event weekends and Kolache Stop never disappoints. The food is always fresh, the staff helpful and kind, and the dining area clean. Just make sure you go in early as they sell out of some flavors fast! This last visit we ordered a wide variety of kolaches, both savory and sweet, and they were all delicious. The assorted meats, be it bacon, ham, or burger, were all delicious with a good amount or meat to be had. Vegetables are crisp, the eggs are soft and fluffy, and the cheese blend is to die for. The savory kolaches are always stuffed to the brim with their fillings and never leave you wanting. The sweet pastries are also divine with their yummy jellies, warm and buttery cream cheese, and streusel toppings to garnish them. They're excellent 'desserts' for the savories or just as delicious stand-alones. I'd highly recommend giving the Kolache Stop a try if you haven't already. I'm not a kolache fan,but my friend and her husband like kolaches so I entered this place. Is nice with a few tables is clean and the attendant was pleasant. My friend ordered jalapeño kolache and sausage kolache. I ordered pastries sorry no pictures because I forgot to take pictures but because I'm not a kolache expert I think the jalapeño one was good and the sausage also kind of spicy but good. The chocolate chip cookie was really good but the cheese and cherry pastries were not so good they were just ok. read more

It's Sunday, my fiancé and I got a late start to our slow morning. Decided to get coffee and then stop somewhere for kolaches. We have been in once before but went back, nearly sold out of everything I picked up a few solid choices (pork, egg cheese potato, sausage, and jalapeño cheddar). You will definitely NOT regret the pork kolache, I think I could easily eat 10 in a row. I forget his name but the man at the counter was so sweet, there was bags of fruit kolaches on the counter, and after chatting about his morning with him he let me take an entire bag at no cost. I thought it was such a sweet gesture, he said they'd close soon anyhow and if I'd like some I can take them. I have had the pleasure of visiting the Kolache Shop a couple of times now. The outside is unassuming, as it is located in a strip mall. The interior is reminiscent of a European bakery. The menu board is behind the counter but is very easy to read. I have ordered, I suppose about half the items on the menu. The meats and other ingredients seem to be top tier. There are savory klobasneks and sweet kolaches. The menu is more diverse than the usual bakery provides (you need to try the pulled pork, hamburger, and meatball items.) Note for non Czech Texans: a meat filled "kolache" is actually a klobasnek. Kolaches are filled with fruit and/or cream cheese. read more

My husband got the strawberry filled cheesecake kolache, the cherry cheesecake, the potato, egg, and cheese one. I had the bacon, egg and cheese, blueberry cheesecake, and cherry. Oooh la la! A must try for sure. It has a variety, so you can mix and match any day of the week and come out a winner! Please support this local luxury. You won't regret it! I bought 2 sweet kolaches, one cream cheese/apricot and one cream cheese/raspberry. Then I bought one of their wonderful cinamon rolls to freeze for another time. Kolache Stop has been in my neighborhood for many many years. It is a good place to stop by and get an order of Kolaches, both sweet and savory, for work peers and special occasions. They have quite a few different flavors and some interesting Kolache fillings. I usually go for the sausage, cheese and jalapeño, but today I decided on egg, sausage and cheese. We also ordered sausage and cheese and egg and bacon. All of them were very satisfying. The place is always clean and most of the time, the owner is there to greet you. Really, the only issue, is that kolaches tend to be on the small side so one is usually not enough. But, it is perfect for ordering big and almost every time I visit, there is are many choices. The nutella kolache was super creamy and tasty with my coffee and the sausage kolache kept me full way past lunchtime. First off I am such a kolache fan and I think kolaches aka "pig in the blanket" are the best breakfast food to be invented LOL I've had tried many kolaches over my life time and I have to say Kolache Stop is a Kolache Fan Heaven!!! ;) My first time visiting was on a Wednesday morning at 7am. I was promptly greeted by a friendly face and was asked how my morning was going. :) The place was not extremely busy around that time but I did notice there were "to-go-orders" pre-made and pending on pick up. I thought that was such a great way to treat your coworkers and will definitely do that in the near future. On to the kolaches I tried... I ordered the sausage cheese kolache (personal pick) and the jalapeño cheese sausage kolache (employee recommended). I can't eat spicy food but to my surprise the jalapeño cheese sausage kolache was my favorite! It wasn't too spicy and spice made me wanting more. The bread on the kolache is soft and not too thick. The amount of sausage and bread was a perfect ratio. After eating two kolache I did not feel like a fatty and overly full. It was just enough for breakfast. And the best part it only cost $3.14 for two warm kolache. I was in and out in less than 3 minutes :) . I will definitely come back to try the other kolaches. This place is definitely worth trying! Tip: there is only 2 parking space directly in front of the store and it's a 10 minute parking space. There's other parking in the shopping center. read more

Working over the weekend and a work friend stopped for a bunch of Kolache's. Wow, they were good. No idea what the store looks like or the service, but the food is rocking. I sacrificed again for Yelp and had to over-eat so that I could try a variety. The sausage & cheese kolache's were my favorite. Great "pigs in blanket" style with a wonderful casing of bread around the savory cheese & sausage. Fruit kolache's were almost like a danish but maybe a bit lighter on the icing. Really liked those and my kids would likely rage thru those. Bacon & cheese were a great "non-traditional" kolache. Can't wait to try out the real store sometime. read more

Wanted to try a "Fresh (traditional) Kolache" at a bakery that specializes in them. Oh my goodness, if you have tried them from a doughnut or coffee shop, you MUST try the Kolache Stop! The shop specializes in KOLACHES. They have breakfast kolaches, lunch kolaches, sweet kolaches and even large cookies! They have a variety of bottled/canned drinks and coffee too! The shop is darling and the customer service was spectacular! We bought a bacon egg and cheese, ham and cheese, sausage and jalapeño, chicken and green chili, cherry cream cheese, and a raspberry cream cheese kolaches. They will heat them up for you if you like. They offer take out or you can seat at a table and enjoy them in their shop! They have ample seating too! We took ours to go! The chicken green chili Kolache is a lunch one but they were straight out of the oven so I had to get one! OH MY..... it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! It had chopped green chili and jalapeños, diced chicken AND cream cheese! In other words, heaven in a bun! Yes, I ate it for breakfast! My husband ate his ham and cheese and the raspberry cream cheese one! He was impressed too! The Kolache dough is soft and very fluffy and a bit sweet but not too sweet! My suggestion is go EARLY for best selection and keep in mind they are open from 7 am- 2 pm Tuesday - Sunday; they are closed on Mondays!!! I 100% recommend the Kolache Stop. You will not be disappointed! The prices of the kolaches are reasonable and you can even purchase by the dozen for an additional savings. They can be frozen too! I shared a few pictures of our purchase. Please pardon the bites out of the chicken green chili Kolache but I just had to show the filling especially the cream cheese!! Ah this place is SO GOOD! When I was younger, my mom and I used to stop at Shipley's all the time for Kolaches in the morning. Kind of a fun childhood memory of mine. But let me tell you, these are outstanding. First off, THE DOUGH like are you kidding me? It is so soft and chewy and everything you would want in a donut/Kolache. My first bite into my sausage egg and cheese was like shocking. When I bit into it, it kinda puffed cause the air was caught in it and I would have paid someone to get my reaction on camera. It was utter bliss and disbelief. Now this one wasn't as full as I hoped, but the flavor was super on point. The second one, chorizo egg and cheese wasn't that great but the dough was even thicker and more gooey and amazing. They filled this one up full but I just wasn't a fan of the style of chorizo they used. Maybe if they used the more oily fatty one it would have been better LOL Lastly I had to go back inside and order a dessert Kolache (cause duh) and I got the cream cheese mixed with raspberry one and it was as glorious as I imagined it. They heat all their kolaches up before they hand them over (if you so choose) which just makes it that much more decadent. I am pleasantly surprised with this place and will return if I am over here in this side of town again! The only thing I would change is brighter lighting in the place itself. I got this at my former employer. The egg kolache and the sausage kolache was the perfect breakfast. I was starving, and it filled me up.

Wow! Went in and bought one for brunch. Sat in the car to enjoy it. Soon as I tasted it, I knew I was going back to buy more for dinner. Loved the BBQ Beef kolache, the polish sausage kolache, and the cherry and cream cheese kolache. The Klobásníks were so yummy and fresh too. the service was great, and the place was clean. my only request is that the employees had a little more Czech knowedge and could explain the difference between the Kolache and the Klobásník. Kolaches are one of my favoriteeee breakfast pastries, and I had been dying to find a spot in San Antonio that could compare to one of my favorite kolache spots in Houston, and I think I have found it! I stopped by one Saturday morning after I had gone grocery shopping and grabbed a poppy seed kolache and potato and egg kolache. THey were nicely filled. THe poppy seed had a nice, sweet flavor with the cool granular texture of the poppy seeds to provide a nice contrast. To me, one of the important things about a kolache - THE DOUGH. ANd I think this place does a pretty good job of capturing the chew that you need and the hint of sweetness to stand up to the sweet or savory flavors of the fillings. It's located in one of the shopping complexes off of Huebner and has plenty of parking. If you're looking for a solid kolache fix, then I highly recommend this place! read more
