No longer recommend this place, which is a shame because it was the highlight of moving to McAllen. Their manager's lack of care, compassion, and knowledge is why I'll never be back. I've fired myself and that's okay, I'll spend my money elsewhere. Every 2 weeks or so I would come in and order kolaches for my staff. This time I also picked up some chocolate milks. I got back to work, unable to leave at this point. The chocolate milks were opened and they were clearly bad. They smelled and were clumpy. The date was okay, but clearly the milk was not. I called and was told there was nothing that could be done, I could not get a refund or new drinks the next day (again, couldn't leave work at this point). I told them that I would even take a gift card but was told no, unless I could come back by 2pm that day I wasn't getting anything. Clearly I was upset, and the employee was nice, but the manager refused to talk to me and those were my only options. So again, I have decided to use my hard earned money somewhere else. read more

Love the variety kolaches and the staff. Been going for many years and have never had an issue with the older gentleman as others have stated. read more

Kolaches has a spinach one that is scrumptious! They offer to heat your order or you can leave with at a cool, room temperature and reheat later. So helpful when your kolaches are for now or later! My other favorite is the egg and chorizo! What adds to the morning visit, because they close early, is the welcoming, ever so helpful and friendly staff! Wonderful breakfast when it's not taco Tuesday! lol read more

I have been here a couple of times and every time I go I get good service by the girl. However, today we got served by a gentlemen and let's just say he didn't look Like he wanted to work there or he was annoyed by me asking what he would recommend. When asked his response was " I haven't tried it" or just a shrug of the shoulders. Keep in mind that while I'm asking and trying to decide he was slouching over the counter. I enjoy when the girl is at the counter because even if she doesn't tell you what to eat she makes recommendations and makes you feel that she really wants for you to have a good breakfast. The gentleman needs better customer service and if you need to, try all the Kolaches to be able to give options/ recommendations. There's not that many to be able to say I haven't tried them all. The establishment is always clean which is a plus And if you don't want their coffee there is a coffee shop next door. read more

I love the food, the deals, and everything about kolache factory. What I don't like is Lexi's attitude. It ruins the experience of getting great, delicious, warm food. read more

Wonderful service everytime I come... The employees know me by name and even ask how my family is doing. I love coming here because they don't treat me like a number or a couple of bucks.. they make me feel as if I'm family here read more

I love Kolaches for a quick hearty bfast. They are baked freshly and all Kolaches taste so good. The service is also pretty quick. Definitely recommend this place! read more

Everyone should try all the kolache's. My favorite one is the Spinach and cheese. Soooo gooood. Stop complaint about the older gentleman. I just read a couple of reviews about the older gentleman, which is disturbing to me. This older gentleman needs to work no matter that he can't see well. He's cordial and kind. He's trying his best. Stop complaining about him. :( read more

No mask sign on the door this morning. Walked in with no mask with my 3 year old, and caught complete attitude. No one spoke to me, nothing. A woman walks in behind me with a mask, and there's a 'Good morning! Welcome in!' It's clear this franchise or those running it don't agree with mandates coming to an end. 100% poor customer service. If you want everyone to continue to wear a mask, post a sign. Don't just discriminate against them. read more

Nice assortment of kolackes and stuffed croissants and the Katz Coffee was amazing. The staff was polite, friendly and helpful. The service was great. We ate there and enjoyed the morning sun was very clean and relaxed feeling read more

Friendly employees, food is good for roadtrips. I reccommend a ham egg and cheese croissant if they have one, with an apple... thing (?) as dessert. Good for breakfast or pre workouts since your body absorbs carbohydrates at those times instead of turning them into fat. Starbucks is next door if you want that too. read more

I ordered the cream cheese and 2 pepperoni & mushroom kolaches. I saw three guys running the whole place. The cashier looked tired but he was very friendly and polite. I was in and out within 5 minutes :-) With all the Tex-Mex choices here in the valley it's nice to get a little variety once in a while. I love Kolache Factory and y'all should swing. I got three huge kolaches for just $4.70 not too bad at all :-) read more

I'm glad this place is across town from my house or I would be tempted to stop here every morning. Their ham and cheese kolache is a thing of beauty. It's the best I have had anywhere. The others are good too, but that ham and cheese just gets me. So good. read more

Kolache Factory - My fav - Bakeries Near Me - Mcallen, Texas

One of my go to on the go breakfast places. Good variety...everything from sweet to savory. My only comment would be that in my opinion, the older gentleman who works the register does not belong there. He is a perfectly nice man but because he has trouble seeing, service is way to slow. He has to constantly look really closely at the money you give him and one more than one occasion, he has to ask a co worker what's the amount due that is showing on the register. Very poor business. I have gotten the wrong change given to me several times both more and less the correct amount read more

They have an assortment of kolaches. You just have to find one that suits your taste. I was in and out in 5 minutes. Their service was quick and friendly. Was my first time here and asked the cashier to give me a variety of 6. (Had a coupon for buy 3 and get 3 free). My favorite out of the 6 she choose was the cream cheese. It's a great little breakfast place. Prices are good also. PS. Check the back of your HEB receipt for the buy 3 get 3 coupon. read more

I've been here twice and have loved the hot Polish kolache enough to have it both times. I also have had the bbq kolache and the ham, egg and cheese kolache, and they are not stingy with the fillings. The second time we took advantage of the text offer and got three for free, my fiancé had two different chicken ones that he enjoyed. I prefer the savory ones to the sweet ones, chocolate cheesecake. They do fill you up and are fresh, but they do run out fast. I'll definitely be back and earlier to get my hands on other varieties like the croissant one. They also heat up nicely at home. read more

I love the food but this one lady on my two trips of 1 week apart, I experience exactly the same thing. Today I came in and about to order when the lady behind the counter that also handles the food began sneezing like 10 times in a row! She covers her nose with her elbows. She was sneezing in front of me, in two episodes, that means that is about 20 times! What troubling is that a week ago she was doing the same thing! Sneezing like ten times per episode and it was very loud. Imagine the 100mph mucus spreading in the room this whole time!! read more

Loved this place. Have different things. They are very nice when taking care of you. I wish they open till late!

Brisket Kolache was delicious, but service wasn't great. Ordered online and was told it'd take 75 minutes (!!) to be ready. Arrived 45 minutes later to find my food was ready and cold. Asked the employee why I didn't receive a call and they informed me they were "busy". A quick look around the store and I saw no other customers, but myself. Not great read more

The Lady that was serving on 5/21/19 at 7:30 am is the greatest!! She's fast, courteous and truly should be commended!!

I love the Ranchero and Chorizo kolache! The bread ratio is good too, not to bready (if that's even a word)

Hard to resist ordering more. Hubby had the sausage and egg and I had the steak and egg kolache. So fresh tasting and what's not to love about fresh bread? Had several kinds of coffee to choose from which I liked and it wasn't bitter tasting. Thumbs up on the coffee and meal. A nice clean place. read more

1st timer today. The Kolache factory is a warm and fluffy breakfast option. The chorizo and egg Kolache is a good choice!

super good (: they were a little bit cold but whatevs. I tried one (can't remember the name) but it was spicy and to die for the lady was also very nice! read more

So I read other reviews before coming which is why I came. Overall great experience. Mostly a place to pick up and leave. But I stayed because I needed to waste time. I got bbq, ham and cheese, and Texas Hot. My favourite was bbq. The girl that helped me was nice but when I asked for a suggestion, the common phrase of their all good isn't helpful. Beyond that is my only gripe. I mean of course they are, but just pick one.... Def. Recommended. Also, it's like the only place open early on Sundays lol. read more

Great breakfast treat. Surprising variety of sweet or savory fillings for these doughy creations. Service solid. Best to go early when fresh. Starbucks right beside so bonus as coffee here weak. I used to pop in here in the mornings to get kolaches to go. It's sort of fast food-esque inside, so I didn't ever eat there (although you could - and many people do), but the kolaches are always delicious and there is a nice variety. The employees were always very friendly, even when it was blazing hot out and early in the morning! You can't go wrong with a kolache from here - careful though, I have heard them referred to as "fat pills"! read more

Kolache in Texas, who would have thought? Friendly service and great cheap kolache. Everything I could ask for. Personally I tried one each of the spinach and apple varieties, while the dough was a bit chewier than the flaky kolache I'm used to in the midwest, it was still a great breakfast for me. read more

I have been here 3x already. I live 50 min away and come to Mcallen 3x a week. I decided to try it one morning because, well I wanted a Kolache. There is alot of variety to try. My favorite to date is the Jalepeno popper kolache. It has cream cheese, jalepeno, and bacon and wow is it something!! But they have them if you need one? ;-) read more

This was my 2nd time to order from this Kolache Factory in McAllen. The first time, I ordered a large variety of kolache's. However, upon receipt of the several boxes, only half were marked. Needless to say, every bite of the unmarked boxes was a surprise and not necessarily a good one. Today, I ordered a single Kolache to go. Several blocks down 10th, I bit into my kolache to find it was not the flavor ordered - not even something that I would have purposely ordered. After returning to the store, I inquired as to the incorrect flavor and was told "that's what you ordered"....I replied that that's not what I had wanted. No offer was made to replace the kolache, therefore it was left behind. I guess if you like surprises when it comes to food, this is the place to go. read more
