Gina dilated my eyes and check my eye pressure.Abel Abel assisted with bringing up my eye photo results on the computer for Dr. Ash. A couple of minutes later Dr. Ash came in provided excellent customer service excellent bedside manner very kind professional I appreciate a great Doctor Who really cares I highly recommend Dr. Ash. I highly recommend early morning appointments. Dr. Ash is able to assist you on Thursdays only but calm and check his schedule. It may have changed. I highly recommend you book way months in advance and book a first thing in the a.m. appointment at the Whittier California location to see Dr. Ash 8 AM preferably anything further out you'll be sitting there for two hours or more

Lucy greeted me and without looking at my chart, said "I got you". She confirmed my glasses were under warranty and had my frames in stock. She had me out of the office in 10 minutes. I walked out with a new pair of frames and I felt amazing and relieved that I had no out of pocket expenses and that I didn't compromise my sight. The place itself is roomy, clean and there is a huge variety of frames to choose from. The staff is courteous and helpful. There's a special parking area behind the office for patients and street parking is available. I'd highly recommend visiting the office and saying hi to Lucy! She's super friendly and cares about her clients experience.

She met with Dr. Nakabayashi who was really nice along with all the staff there as well. It's a fairly good sized office with a warm setup and couches to sit on while you wait. They have a giant selection of name brand glasses to select from at reasonable prices. My VSP insurance covered most of the expenses which was great. I think they have a restroom inside and there's plenty of parking out front or on the block. Overall, this is a great optometrist office that I highly recommend, very friendly and professional.

If you are considering him I would not hesitate to go see him . Here is my story in regards to what happened to me and what exceptional service and treatment I received from Dr Nguyen and his staff. I tore my retina on Dec 26, 2025. At that time I didn't know that to be the case. I went to the emergency room that night and they did a sonogram and said nothing torn but I had a hemorrhage and to follow up with a Opthamologist. Well the 26th was a Friday so I had to wait until Monday to go. I did have on opthamologist from my cataract surgery but when I went to see him he was not working because of the week between Christmas and New Years. I then went to an Optometrist I know and he sent me to Dr Nguyen's office in Pomona. I walked in that Monday the 29th about 10 AM or so. I told the girl at the front desk my story and she said she could squeeze me in on Tuesday the 30th for an evaluation. I went to see Dr Nguyen on Tuesday and they ran several tests. Dr. said I had a torn retina and would require surgery to repair. I was thinking to myself ok a week or two to schedule and he said he had a spot on Wednesday the 31st. He wanted to do it sooner than later. I was shocked as I did not anticipate the sudden surgery but decided it was the best thing to do. Now comes Monica, the office scheduler for surgeries. In order to do this surgery I had to have blood work done as well as an EKG prior to surgery. Monica had me set up at Pomona Valley Hospital to do everything within about 2 hours that same day. She was amazing with the organization. December 31st, surgery day. Everything went smooth. At discharge they said I should see Dr in the Pasadena office on Jan 2. Later in the day on Dec 31 I received a call and they said Dr would see me at his office in Pomona on Jan 1. I said that is a holiday and she said not a problem Dr would meet me their and open the door and check me out to make sure everything was good. Sure enough he was their on the 1st and said all looked well. Again, I highly recommend Dr Nguyen without hesitation.

Dr. Ngai is very knowledgeable and accomplished with exceptional credentials. I was very impressed with his explanations about cataracts, lens types, and the surgery process. I had my surgery in June and July and could not be happier with the results. The surgery was quick and painless and I now have great vision. While we were there, Dr. Chen examine her other eye and found that she had a tear in her retina, he repaired it the next day. He is very professional, and examined both eyes without us, expecting it or requesting it. This shows he's very conscientious and professional at his job. I had never had my eyes examined but made an appointment to have them looked at regularly. Dr. Chen also teaches at UCLA so you know you're getting excellent care. I would not hesitate to make an appointment with him for any eye problem.

Atlantis Surgery Center in Montebello clearly dose not value their customers' time at all. They had all kinds of excuses when I asked them why we had to wait so long. This is a terrible way to do business. Do yourself a favor and find another doctor and surgery center who takes better care of their patients.

However, we have only been here twice and both times we were in the office for well over 2 hours. That is completely unreasonable. I don't care how good your doctors and your staff are, but 2-3 hours is unacceptable for any office. Also, they validate for parking but not for the entire time. Our validations only covered $4 of the $8 charge both times. You are a great doctor but we will not be back unless we absolutely have to be. Sad, but true.
