Okay so this is probably going to be a weird review. I went to itan for about a year off and on and then found this place where I also went off and on for about a year. It is much cleaner, cooler, and best customer service. In order to try to avoid skin damage I would use their best bed. However, still at the age of 23, I developed a skin cancer. No, it wasn't melanoma, but three rounds of mohs surgery and ten stitches on my face later it is safe to say I learned my lesson. Moral of the story. All aspects of the business itself are great. However, I strongly urge all to learn from my experience and stick to their airbrush tanning services. read more

Great salon, Great Service! When I had moved here nearly a year ago, one of my first priorities was to find a good tanning place for my wife and I that was reasonably priced and close to my house. Kokomo's has a great location next to Lowe's on Old Grove and 76. Their prices are very good, especially for your entry level beds, and the employees there are always very professional and courteous. Their friendly staff always greets me when I come in, and always say "thank you" when I'm leaving. I had initially tried going to iTAN located on Oceanside blvd, but there is never any parking there, traffic nearby is horrible in the morning and afternoon, and I cannot stand having to wait in line to tan. In contrast, there is plenty of parking near Kokomo's, and even in the busiest times of the year, I have never had to wait for a tanning bed there. Kokomo's offers 5 different levels of tanning, Mystic, and even a leg tanner which I had never seen before. The shop itself is very clean and inviting and their tanning beds and bulbs are always in top shape, So after nearly a year, I am still a loyal Kokomo's customer, and I can honestly say that I am very satisfied going there. Seriously, this is the prettiest most long lasting tan I have EVER had. I keep looking at my body thinking "how is this possible"? First of all, I had credits for Mystic Tan that was a year an half old and when I called I half expected them to laugh at me when I asked if it was still good. Not only was it still in their system but they allowed my to use it as a credit toward tanning because I explained that I hadn't come back due to my dissatisfaction with Mystic. When I did go in I looked over the bed choices and chose to buy a small package of the most expensive bronzing bed because I simply know myself and will NOT make it in there 5 times a week to get that glow I want. The bed was great. I trusted it would be fine. So far I have gone twice in TWO WEEKS (that's it) and I swear that my tan is getting prettier. I will go back this weekend however because I want to KEEP it that way. I'm so impressed. You have no idea how hard it has been to find a company who isn't cheap with their bulbs around here. They all say "we changed the bulbs this week, blah blah" but when I'm still white after weeks I just can't believe it. Sorry. In fact I signed up at a gym with a platinum membership because one of the perks was free tanning. I never got this pretty of a color in the few years I was a customer there. I relied on sitting out at my son's baseball games getting burnt to crisp for that. Not fun. I'm sure many of you can relate. I just really want to give credit where credit is due. I love this place. I got an airbrush tan for my engagement pics and not only was it a great price but the color turned out beautiful! The best part though was the amazing service. They fit me in quickly and were so friendly and helpful during the whole process. I am never going anywhere else for my airbrush tanning needs. I called to find out if they were open and to my amazement I learned since they were a retail store they indeed were open. I spoke with "Lorinda" who was so upbeat and informative and decided to give it try for a spray tan before my trip to Palm Springs. She was just as nice and friendly when I got there, explained the whole "mystic tan" process so I got a special of 2 spray tans. The process was very easy and the results were great. The facility is clean and smells good. Way to go, Lorinda...I'll be back. read more

I've been going here on and off since 2008! After today I will never go back. After a miscommunication on the membership and the employee that signed me up didn't know what they were talking about, and the one that canceled my membership the time before not knowing what their doing, I had the "manager" Miriam tell me it's not her fault I don't know how to read the paper I signed and I responded "is it my fault your employees don't know how to do their job?" She responds "not my problem." Then as she continues to yell at me I said "are you really arguing with me and yelling at me? And because your employees don't know what their doing you'd rather lose a customer you've had for 9 years?" She responds "well I can just go somewhere else." HA WOW! I really hope the owner reads this she REFUSED to give me ANY contact info for the owner and said I can write him a letter and she'll give it to him. Ha right are you f***** kidding me? Then says she'll give him my contact info. So hopefully you read this please contact me. I have never been more disturbed and at awe over a customer service interaction in my life. And I will say This any other point in time over the last 9 years I would have given kokomos a 5... but as a business owner letting a woman like this be the representation of your company I think you need to re asses. Thanks I would like to add.... in all the years I've gone to kokomos it has been the cleanest salon with the must up to date beds and seem to keep up on bulb maintenance of really any salon I've gone to. It's unfortunate our relationship needed to end this way. Luckily we were able to stand by the employees original word and pitch per the owner, but according to the manager I spoke of above she said to never come back. Lol. It's unfortunate. read more

This place has the worst customer service!! The website clearly has the hours posted (and it's on the door) but the girls won't let you tan 15-20 minutes before they "close". I work late and have had this happen on numerous occasions. I've even called in advance and been told that they have already taken the last tanner and are closed. Why bother even having the hours posted if the girls are going to make their own hours anyway? I have referred friends (since the #4 bed is awesome) and the girl didn't even show the first time user how to turn the bed on... Some of them don't even know which beds burn and I've gotten really, really sun burnt before. read more

This is by far the best tanning salon I have been to! The staff was super nice and actually very informative, something many many tanning salons don't do. I always do level 1 beds, bc they're the cheapest, and honestly this one was the nicest one I've been in ( I could actually feel the heat). They even give you goggles in the rooms, so you don't have to buy your own! And they also have headphones with several different channels that you can choose from, which I have never seen that in any salon before. Came in last minute before my anniversary trip to vegas. I wore a silly shaped cut out back the other day when eating lunch on the beach which resulted in my back looking like it had cow spots. Having moved out here from South Florida, I found it too cold all year to lay out and tan. With my wedding coming up, I didn't want to burn while on my Caribbean cruise so I decided to get a base tan. I did my research and visited each tanning salon in a 20 mile radius of me. Although Kokomos is the farthest out of my route home from work, they were the most helpful and cleanest. A cute island feel when you walk in, but the most important is nice and knowledgeable employees and clean beds! Highly recommend! read more

I wish I could give a higher review regarding this place! The last few months were my first time every getting a tan through a tanning bed in preparation for my wedding. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that my experience there was great! They were able to answer all of my questions, and took a genuine interest in my life and did not just treat me like a customer. I went with a month of tanning, with so many upgrades that it went all the way to my wedding day. I could not be more happy with the results! I felt like a princess on my wedding day, and some of that was from simply feeling more confident in the perfect skin tone!
