This has been the biggest highlight of our entire trip so far! So glad I saw this on a friend's Instagram. The sauna is hot and the water refreshing. Made for a perfect day!

My husband and I had the best time getting a private sauna on our trip to Oslo. While we could have shared with other people (which I sure would have been fun), I'm glad that we only had the two of us because I can't imagine trying to change out of a wet swimsuit with strangers. You can either bring your own beer or order beer on the dock. You change, get really warm in the sauna and go into the very cold sea and repeat. What's great is they have a Bluetooth speaker system so you can rock your tunes while sipping an ice-cold beer and reflecting on how amazing life is!

With a beautiful pool, sauna and steam room accompanied by comfortable lounge chairs and a sweeping view of Oslo, Artesia is a decadent, luxurious and stress eroding environment. While you can use the facilities without booking a treatment, I decided to splurge on a hot stone massage and am so glad that I did. It melted away every morsel of stress from my fingers to my toes. My masseuse was very attentive and professional and I believe his hands may just be magical. Absolutely brilliant massage. The only complaint I would have for Artesia would be their strange rules about using their changing rooms, lockers and robes. When I arrived at the spa I requested a robe to change into and the woman at the front desk informed me I would need to pay 100 NOK in order to use a robe and their changing facilities. While I understand that charge if you are only using the pool facility I don't think it makes sense if you have already paid for a treatment. She continued that as a hotel guest I am responsible for bringing my own robe and that I need to contact the hotel front desk to obtain one. This information was not made readily available to me before my massage, even though I did book via phone. Sort of took away from the magical and stress free oasis feel that Artesia managed to create.

The breakfast was one of the better spreads we experienced in Norway during our 9 day trip. Lots of clean fluffy towels, great water pressure, nice hotel robes (I am a basic B!). Windows opened, thankfully, as they were having a heat wave and there is no A/C here so that was not ideal but at least they provided a fan which did help a bit.

The location couldn't have been better and we had only a short walk for our onward exploration in Norway. It was also close to the MUNCH museum as well as the opera house and very central for using the public transport to get around Oslo. The hotel itself is very up to date and our suite had all the expected amenities from power access to big modern bathroom. One complaint and I've seen this elsewhere in Europe, is your inability to control the temperature in your room. If you want it cooler you have to make a request to the front desk. Our room on the 6th floor was fairly large (by European standards) and was comfortable with a nice view to the train station. Our rate included the lavish breakfast buffet with loads of choices as well as a few made to order items like eggs Benedict and something I've never seen in Europe-bagels! A lovely stay except for the warm and stuffy room. Oddly they keep the hallways and other public spaces cooler. Be sure also to check out the fantastic hip cocktail bar-pier 42-in the lobby. Radisson Blu Hotel, Oslo (Holberg) - Great Location and Warm Service…read more After a long transatlantic flight, the welcome at the hotel was exactly what we needed--calm, friendly, and refreshing. The staff were excellent and kindly accommodated an early check-in, which made a big difference after a tiring journey. The hotel itself could benefit from a light refurbishment in parts, but this is more than balanced out by its many strengths. The location is fantastic, and the top-floor bar offers great views and a relaxing atmosphere. Access to the Lagoon pool and gym is another strong plus. Breakfast was a highlight. The staff were professional and attentive, and the selection of Norwegian food had that distinct, fresh quality that simply feels good--both in taste and overall experience. With views stretching toward the Royal Palace and even glimpses of the fjord, the stay felt special and memorable. Overall, a very enjoyable stay with excellent service and amenities. I bit pricey but I would definitely return.

Public transportation options are also quite accessible for things that are a little farther afield. Getting there from the airport was rather easy. The train line from the airport ran directly to the Nationaltheatret station. From there, it was a reasonably easy 8-minute walk. The hotel itself was not necessarily what I would call elegant, but it was quite nice nonetheless. The lobby was spacious, warm and welcoming with an interesting fire place structure in the middle. There was a convenience store entrance off the Lobby for good measure. The service at the front desk was polite and efficient. Our check-in and check-out experiences were trouble-free and the time or two that we had questions involved very pleasant interactions with prompt answers. Our room was on the 9th floor affording a nice urban view. I was a little afraid of the size when I booked. Our only experiences to date with Scandinavian hotels in Sweden and Denmark were cramped rooms for very high prices. But we were pleasantly relieved with the discovery that our room was more comparable to American-sized rooms than Northern European rooms. We had plenty of space to feel relaxed. The decor was pleasant and the room was in good shape. The Wi-fi signal was strong and did not fail us at any point during our 5-night stay. The bathroom was clean with all fixtures working as expected. The room was equipped with a refrigerator which allowed us to keep leftovers, minimizing our food costs. The coffee provided was instant, but with the fast water heater that was OK. The hallways were neat and well-kept. We did not take advantage of the pool, but we noticed that other patrons clearly enjoyed that amenity. One of the notable things was the restaurant. I highly recommend booking a room rate that includes breakfast. The restaurant itself had quite a large seating capacity, so even at its busiest we could still find seating. The buffet was fabulous, rivaling many that I've seen in Asia. The hot selections were plentiful with eggs, potatoes, meats, pancakes and more. The bread selection was quite good and the yogurts, fruit, cheeses and greens were all you would want. The local specialty brown cheese was worth trying and became a favorite. The coffee was good as well. The cost was well worth what we received. It helped immensely that we visited in February allowing for us to take advantage of off-season pricing. But this still worked well for us because the weather was not overly cold and most attractions were still open. Our pre-paid rate with breakfast was around $656 including taxes for five nights. At about $131 per night, you really can't beat the value. The fact that we could walk or easily ride everywhere we needed to go made this hotel the perfect choice as an anchor point for our visit to the wonderful city of Oslo.

Really enjoyed my time here and the brekkie as well as the food at the Top was fabulous. This is a perfect hotel and the staff was just great at every turn! Thanks for a great stay. I wanted to say thank the team for a wonderful welcome and to also shout out a couple of team members for really taking care of my colleagues and I on our arrival. We came in without our luggage bags it was delayed arriving. Even tho it was early in the day, Natasa took our names and offers to get us rooms just as fast as possible. We went upstairs for brekkie and while we were up there she came up to let my colleagues know she had a room ready for them! When they mentioned I was waiting too, she invited us to the desk and she and her teammate, Thea, worked to get us all settled quite nicely and early too! Such fabulous customer service and attention! I think this is remarkable customer attention, especially these days when it is so hard to find. Thank you to the team for helping us get our week here started in such great fashion. If you have a chance, please shout them out and let them know their help was awesome and greatly appreciated.

It is also currently the tallest building, so easy to find one's way back to the hotel if out wandering the area. Our room was a good size. However, the bathroom is a major safety hazard. There is a step up from the room floor level so that leaves a hazardous step down to exit. Something to keep in mind, especially at night. Also, there are no safety bars in marble floored shower so it's very very slippery. I also kept tripping on the door sill entering the room from the hallway. Our stay included a buffet breakfast. It was quite extensive with hot and cold items. If it weren't for the safety issues with the bathroom, I'd rate the hotel four stars. No one should risk broken bones while on vacation.

The room was very clean and nicely decorated. We spent time exploring Oslo by foot including national gallery art museum, vigeland sculpture park, and the opera house just to name a few. They have so many delicious options I had to go back a few times just to try more. My top favorites were the smoked salmon and the fresh cold pressed juices. We stayed at a few Scandics and we really liked that they always offer traditional options for that area.
