I am trying to be kind but this store is boring. There is no department store excitement to it. I had a hard time finding someone to assist me. Finally I made my way to the Amazon return desk. The young guy was borderline rude. He never smiled and just beckoned me to come to his station. He was very curt and robot sounding when I asked him if he needed the box. He sounded like he was reading a policy. I didnt ask for the policy if accepting boxes. I asked if you need it.t I folded it and was going to throw it away. He glared at me! I thought this was a convenience location to go pick up an item that I ordered online and to buy something really quick. This was a bad idea since it was getting closer to the holidays. They had three lines at the customer service. One line was for pickup which they only had one person taking care of this. Another was the store returns which they also had one person taking care of this. The last line was for Amazon returns and also one person taking care of this. You would think that they would have more staff to cover the returns and the customers were waiting at least 30 minutes to 1 hour just to return things. They closed down one side of the store where there are no cashiers available and the other side they had five cashiers that were so slow and the line was ridiculously long. I end up not returning any of my items and not buying anything because of their short staffed and long lines. Overall: I do not recommend coming here to return things or to buy things during the holiday season. You will be waiting at least one hour just to buy something or to return something; I feel bad for the senior citizens. read more

It's been many years since I shopped at Kohl's, and my experience there tonight was a stark reminder why. The quality of clothing and housewares tgere is decent; after all, you find some of the same brands in major department stores. I arrived at the store around 7:15pm and started to peruse the workout gear section right near the checkout lines. I don't "need" any new gym clothes, but they were on sale - ranging from 25% to 40% off. So I snapped up a couple pairs of pants and a few tops, only to find ridiculously long lines and only two cashiers working. This - is likely why I stopped going - aside from finding comparable deals at stores like Marshalls. From what I could tell, the store was clean from the small area I walked around in, and merchandise is well stocked. Unfortunately, I left my handful of items near the register because I just couldn't wait. Womp, womp. read more

I told the cashier three times that I did not want to enter my data to do their rewards program and her reply, "I can't check you out if you don't enter it." While the man who had just checked out prior to me said he didn't have a rewards program and was simply allowed to say no. She kept saying its free over and over. She refused to listen to me. I don't care that it's free, I said no. Can't people just check out without being hassled into receiving endless emails and messages? Is that too much to ask? NO MEANS NO. Has two entrances and two sets of checkout aisles. Clean, organized, and easy to navigate for the most part. Customer service desk is in the farthest corner of the store, along with restrooms, in the least convenient location imaginable for customers. Due to some poor planning, the customer service area is in a cramped alcove, with the waiting area coinciding with thoroughfare to the restrooms. Not sure if I would ever want to deal with this setup on a weekend or on Black Friday. Am slightly reluctant to use this store for in-store pickups or returns. read more

Today I went to the Kohl's in South Plainfield, to purchase an air fryer. First of all the shelves are picked clean of ALL Appliances. Needless to say the selection was minimum at best. I did find one that I was happy with and took it home. I plugged it in and noticed it was not working, thinking that there was a problem with my electrical. Upon removing the basket I found that this air fryer was used. The basket was full of grease and rusted. The only way this could happen is that an employee brought in a used one and took the new one home. I will be returning the air fryer in the morning and will never set foot in that Kohls again. read more

Not really fond of this location but it's the closest to home so I stop by occasionally when they have a good sale going. I normally look online first to see what I want then go to get it so I can look at it before I make the purchase. On this particular day I was shopping for some Valentines gifts for my sweetie... I saw a nice wallet online on sale and some cute picture frames. I found the wallet and it was marked a different price then online so I pulled up the online price on my phone to get a price match I also found the frame on sale for $9.99 I went to check out and let the cashier know I needed a price match on the wallet. She told me she couldn't help me and I needed to go to customer service all the way in the back of the store where I just came from.... so I walk back there and of course I need to wait in line since only one person is working the register line and the other is doing online order pick ups... I let her know what I needed and she said she didn't know why they didn't help me at check out that they just needed to call for managers approval... I told her I didn't know either and maybe she should let the front end workers know the procedure. Anyway she does the price match on the wallet and rings up the frame. I then ask to use my $10 off coupon that I got in my email for my birthday. She checks and says I can't use it because the wallet is a brand that the coupon is not valid for and my picture frame is only $9.99 so I'm 1 cent short to use the $10 off... OMG... technically she's right on both points so I can't argue that. So I ask if I can at least use the special 30% off code on the frame. I didn't have the physical mailer with me but I had the code on my phone... again failed... she told me no I needed the physical card to get the discount. So I ended up just leaving with the wallet and a headache... So fast forward to the next day... went back online since I still needed a frame for my V-Day gift... found 3 frames I liked, entered the 30% off code and my $10 Birthday coupon and requested store pick up and billed it to Kohl's charge... Went to pick up, waited in line again and finally got my order... Only paid $8 and change for 3 frames after the discounts.... Now that was really an ordeal for something I could have accomplished in 1 trip. Wasted time and gas and some Excedrin...lol Shopping really shouldn't be that hard...Smh... My review is based on the service I received from the Amazon representative. I ordered some items and I decided I did not want the order. Amazon offers an option to return an order without the box to Kohl's or other amazon drop off locations. I chose Kohl's because I knew i would need to touch the Amazon lockers and the other options were out of my way. I walked in and there was no line. I ordered on line with in store pick up. At customer service I had to show ID & my confirmation email on my phone. The woman radio'd to the back room to bring out my item. They didn't have it! They offered to go to the shoe department to get the boots but will I come with her to identify what they look like or, she will take my phone with her with the picture in the email. Really?? So across the whole store I go with her. They had the boots on the sales floor but not in the right size! After searching the back room they were able to find them. I'm now relieved & ready to leave the store. No! I'm sorry ma'am you have to go back to customer service so we can check you out!!! This was a very frustrating experience. ugh...came here to find TheBalm products that i saw online in the Kohl's website. Walked all over the department store and i found only 1 TheBalm item and like 2 Lorac items. All their other beauty items were pretty low end (American beauty, Elle, Flirt and Vera Wang). I was kind of excited to find Vera Wang beauty products but I swatched it and it was not worth buying. Not very pigmented, low quality products. overall i just wasnt impressed with this department store...i dont even know why i keep coming back...i just feel like most items are so low quality but are so expensive...so not worth buying. read more

The condition of this location is horrendous. The fitting room is dirty and people don't know how to read signs that specifically tells you to remove your unwanted items to the rack outside. There are clothes and hangers all over the place in the fitting room, no where to walk. The prices are JACKED, even for "sale" items. If it came down to customer service, I would give this place a 5 star on lucky days and 3 on other days. Today, specifically, we had a sales representative at the jewelry stand that was more than helpful. She was patient and kind. I appreciate the time and effort she put in to help my mom with her first automatic skeleton watch. My mom can be quit the difficult shopper so the sales representative did a great job handling my mother's pickiness. Too bad the store in general is in such poor conditions. Went to this location to exchange a pair of leggings for a different pair. At customer service the woman asks me if I'm exchanging them for the same exact ones or different. Not sure why that matters if I'm asking for store credit. Clearly I made the mistake of being honest and the bitch tells me that if that's the case, she needs to issue me a refund instead. So I insert the card I used to see they're only giving me $9.99 back for a $26 pair of leggings. Guess I'll now have to contact corporate because this is the absolute silliest policy they have in place. Had I known I'd be losing $16 I would've kept what I already had. Ugh. Kohl's is rapidly going downhill IMO, between their now ridiculous prices for mediocre apparel and their rude customer service. Truly shocked that I have yet to see locations going out of business but I give them 5 years tops before that becomes a reality. Second time I've stepped foot in a Kohl's. I received a coupon in the mail so I figured I would check out this store with my bf. Don't go to this location. Try a different store. We picked out a couple jeans for him to try on & then went into the only empty fitting room (all the rest were filled with clothing left over from previous customers, but empty with regards to customers). After about 3 pairs of jeans, I hear "Is there a woman in here?" So of course I respond with a yes. "You're not allowed to be in there." Okay fine, so I'm not allowed inside the individual fitting room. I step outside the door and my bf begins trying on jeans with the door open. Then I get a nasty "Women are not allowed in here, you need to step outside." I'm not one to make a scene, so I step outside the fitting room area, followed shortly by my bf. So now, here I am thinking if women aren't allowed, why is she allowed in there? She had long brown hair and looked female. She was a woman right? Very contradictory don't you think? There was no reason to be rude. This one employee soured the entire review - the 1 star is for the cheerful cashier who rung up a cute cheap pair of sandals for me. We took a look at the jewelry section and the sandals/belts - this section was fairly clean. However, the full shoe section was a disaster; shoes all over the aisles, boxes mixed up - but you could tell it was because the people on the floor had trouble keeping up with messy customers. But it was like a small tornado of a child ran through (which was probably what happened). The men's section was disorganized as well - we looked at Levi's jeans where the styles AND sizes were all mixed up. With the employee cleaning the fitting room being super nasty and the store being a complete mess, we would definitely never shop here again. Synopsis: Would not return. I don't write reviews unless I completely love a place. Unfortunately this wasn't the case this time. This past week I went to this Kohls with my newborn and my elderly mother. Everything was going great and we were shopping for my daughter in the Carters section. I chose 2 outfits for her and brought them over to show mom who was picking out t-shirts for my daughter. Since I didn't have a shopping cart I hung the 2 outfits right next to me to help mom look for the correct size t-shirts. All of a sudden I had a weird sensation that someone was staring at us. Sure enough I look over to my left and see an older Fillipino employee standing with her arms crossed and staring right at us. I looked behind me thinking she was looking at someone else but to my surprise there was no one but us. I asked the woman "can I help you?" and she replied, "are you buying those stuff or not?!" It didn't register in my mind to what she was referring and I asked, "what?" She then pointed to the 2 outfits behind me. I said, "I am planning to purchase but need to find my daughters size " Her name was EDNA and she said, "You need to put them back where you got them from I know you're not going to buy." I was mortified, this was the most arrogant employee I have ever come across! I took the clothes off the rack and proceeded to hand them to her. I said "I no longer want them because you are harassing us." She said, "you no like talk to the manager!" I said ok, call them over! She was shocked that I asked to speak to the manager. The manager came over, his name is Robert (with glasses apparently there are 2 Roberts). He was very friendly and professional. I explained all that occurred and he wasn't surprised. He handed the 2 outfits to EDNA and wanted her to put them back. Guess what, at first she didn't know how to react like a deer in headlights. She then took the merchandise and paced around the Carters section trying to figure out where to put them. I said to Robert, "look she doesn't even know where they belong!" Edna shouted loudly, "that's why I told you to put it back!" What a shame that this nice manager and customers have to deal with this ignorant employee. read more
