I have shopped at Catos ( about 20 + years ) rotating between Chester and Colonial Heights , VA I love the clothes. It's my favorite place to go to. I prefer the Chester location because of the friendly environment. They are just so friendly and vibrant. You just want to stay in the store a few hours. They come and check on you and asking do you need help, or if your arms are full they ask to take your clothes up front I despise the Catos in Col Hgts. Sorry to put it on this review; I tried to give them their own but it wouldn't go through. They never speak or greet you in any way. I have been in to the store about 30 x last year and no one said one word, until I went to pay then two of them had the audacity to ask did I find everything I needed. Huuuuhhhh, what ? Why wasn't this address earlier by opening your mouth up and speaking. It is so rude. The customer service is 0. If you do not want to be around the public go get an in home job. Courtesy goes a long way. The clothes are fabulous. But, I am not going to buy from you and I am being ignored the whole time ; until I am ready to purchased. This is not my first review. I have come on this forum a lot about that place. Respect is a powerful word. I am truly irritated. The store is clean and very organized! The one thing that upset me was that as I was buying a jewelry set (Necklace with ratings and a matching bracelet. Only one left too!) we noticed the bracelet was missing. They allowed me to purchase it, but didn't offer a small discount on it. I've had several stores in the past take a couple dollars off. I'm not letting it stop me from shopping there! Still a nice place!

I don't blame the employees at all but it is a bit frustrating when attempting to checkout and there's 20 people in line and only 2 cashiers. I waited patiently and the cashier was friendly who assisted but they need to train the people working on the floor so they can help at the register in times of need.

Upon entering there was a employee behind the desk and someone else fixing or adding to a display. (They could have been customers) Not sure but neither one greeted me. I mossied around looking at all the frivolous necessities that were displayed throughout the shop. I was looking for one display in particular Ferris Jewelry. I found it near the check out counter. Ferris Jewelry has soft hues of sea glass colors and neutrals. I liked how the pieces were subtle but made a statement. The necklaces would make a compliment to any outfit. A girl needs earrings too. Some lovely pieces to choose from to bring out the elegance, grace, and grab everyone's attention around. The store was set up nice. It was easy to navigate through not feeling cramped. The reason for the 3 stars is lack of a greeting upon entering. A welcoming into a local shop is important. Maybe asking if it's your first time or ... something. Say something when people enter it's important. Now more than ever customer service is needed it seems to be disappearing.

I don't need to be greeted at every single store I walk into. If a customer walks in and does not acknowledge your greeting the first or second time, then maybe you should leave them alone..if you resort to yelling like this lady did ...you have some serious issues and maybe should not be in a business where customer service makes you sales. After I paid, the cashier questioned the price and removed the item from my bag to check with management. While one manager acknowledged the sale was complete, another suggested I donate more money because I had received a "good deal." This happened in front of other customers and felt uncomfortable and embarrassing. Despite that, I gave the store another chance. On February 16, 2026, I selected several items with clearly marked prices, including shoes labeled $12.99 and other discounted items. At checkout, I was told the prices were incorrect and the store refused to sell the shoes at the marked prices. I ended up purchasing only some clothing and leaving. I understand that pricing mistakes can happen, especially at thrift stores. However, how those situations are handled matters. My concern is less about the error itself and more about the way I was treated when trying to purchase items at the prices displayed. As a nonprofit thrift store that serves the community, I expected clearer pricing policies and more respectful customer service. I hope the store takes steps to improve consistency and communication so future customers don't have similar experiences

I have no clue what tux/suit size my boy is so I eagerly accepted the offer of assistance. Charles came over, we told him what we needed, and he immediately picked out a tux jacket, pants, and dress shirt. My son stepped in to a fitting room to try everything on. The shirt and jacket fit perfectly and the pants needed a little bit of alteration. He also brought over a beautiful bowtie to match my son's date's dress. All dressed up, my son looked SO FINE. Charles really knows what he is doing! I couldn't believe he took one look at my boy, assessed him, and picked out the clothes in the right size at first glance! We opted to purchase the tux, shirt, tie, and belt. There is plenty of fabric to account for additional growth of my boy. Alterations were completed swiftly (much faster than I expected), and we could not be happier. We were also very impressed with the pricing. Everything was reasonable and high quality. This experience is one for the books. We received such excellent customer service and Good Luck had a huge selection. I was afraid I'd be overwhelmed when I walked in, but Charles took over and professionally guided us to the right decisions. Other stores could really learn from Good Luck because that is how customer service should be everywhere. Kudos to Good Luck. They will continue to get my business for future menswear needs.
