Let's get something straight, right off the bat...I am a frosting SNOB! I will wholeheartedly admit it, my family are all excellent bakers. There are only a handful of places that I "like" the frosting/fillings. Koffee Kup Bakery frosting...I LOVE!! Took out a girlfriend for her birthday. We had heard that Koffee Kup had moved and were ready to try it out. The new place is bright, spacious and airy. The staff and folks coming in were all wearing masks (correctly, I'll add) and sanitizer was at the door. Because of covid, there were only a few tables spaced adequately apart. Stood six feet away on marked places on the floor and ordered two coffees, a cupcake, a cream horn and a whoopie pie. All this for under $10. The birthday lady loved her cream horn and took the cupcake home. I proceeded to get a spoon and scrape out a big scoop of the cream filling in the whoopie pie. Put it in my mouth and experienced pure pleasure. Mmmmm! Birthday lady remarked that in the future I should just get a tub of frosting/filling... definitely going to try next time! The folks working were extremely pleasant. The decor fresh and airy, it turned into a really nice March afternoon sitting sipping coffee and watching the world go by. Horrible! It's unfortunate that we provided a photo of the cake we wanted for my aunts 75th birthday and it was melted when my cousin picked it up. It's really a shame my poor aunt waited 75 years for this sad cake. The only thing positive I can say is it tasted pretty good. The staff in the bakery were extremely rude and unapologetic that the cake looked like it sat out in the humid sun for too long and then didn't even have a box ready for her to take it. I've experienced ignorance before but for a Birthday this important I expected wayyyy more. My advice to anyone getting a cake from this bakery is to wait to pay, that way it will be done properly. This is an old school bakery. Sheet cakes, brownies, cupcakes. No frills. Nothing pretentious. Delicious cakes. They also have a great variety of rolls, pies, fruit bars, etc. Prices are reasonable. Taste is always consistent. The only negative I noticed on my visit yesterday is that staff was busy texting and chatting while I waited for help. I also disliked how my cupcakes were handled with bare hands. But otherwise....a good choice for simple tasty baked goods. Brings back nice memories of coming here with my mom when young for gingerbread men. Update 3/2015: Visited again recently and continued to be ignored by staff was chatting and texting. The two men have kept it touch ever since, Gov. Baker has placed many orders since that time, even presenting the cupcakes at his inauguration. Koffee Kup is an "Old School Bakery", quite unlike the more modern versions we are accustom to seeing these days. Everything is scratch made, no prepared mixes are used and the end result is a product you might remember growing up as a kid sneaking pieces of grandmothers home made desserts. This is not an Italian bakery, although you will find some of those type of products available. They specialize in cakes for every occasion to the tune of 300 cakes per week. Koffee Cup is conveniently located and in a much better facility now that they moved to Chicopee, MA. We live locally and use them from time to time. But I will admit, they are not our "go-to". Their cake frosting is so sicky sweet. It wasn't always this way but feel like either a change in recipe or ingredients (too much confectionery sugar) is the culprit. One time it was so bad we didn't bother to keep the leftover cake from a birthday party. We chalked it up as a fluke but have tried a couple more times and it is still overly sweet. They are very creative and do nice designs. But when it comes to flavor, you can get better elsewhere. read more

Lets start off how we were faithful returning customers who purchased special made cakes for our kids/family every year and never had a problem until this past weekend that I can never get back. This put a serious bad taste in our mouth for this shop. First of all, we weren't even going to put a review but for our sons cake to being in a huge box that did not fit the cake by width, and the height of the box being 2x smaller than its height which smudged the FRONT of his cake had us already annoyed. We spent almost $100 for a cake, to be held up by STRAWS, not dowels. Ridiculous how this shop cannot afford dowels, but from Dino himself via e-mail they average 150 cakes per week and can't get a refund neither for their lack of compassion, returning customer satisfaction, nothing. I sincerely regret that after many years of patronage by myself and my family, this small business has become too popular to be concerned with the quality cake and service it was once known for. My neice made a simple request for her 7th birthday, a pink barbie cake. I was informed upon arrival to pick up the cake I had ordered (weeks in advance I might add) that the cake would not be pink as their airbrush person was not there. Aside from the fact that they were incapable of utilizing food coloring as a back up, the flower petals were haphazardly placed along the border. As if this were not enough, the worst part of my experience was the remiss, rude and downright unapologetic clerk who informed me - with an attitude and a shrug- that my cake wasn't the only one that wouldn't have colored frosting. I must have missed the part where they were doing me a favor and I didn't pay 35.00 in advance for a repugnant excuse of a cake. Find a bakery that actually cares they're in the business of customer service and a big part of special events. I sincerely hope that I hear from Koffee Kup management at which point I would update my review to reflect any sign of humanity left in this bakery, but I must say at this point its doubtful. read more

They have the best lemon Danishes ever! I grew up on their sweets coming back to Massachusetts visiting family and coming back to this place took me back to my childhood. It's also cheap and credit card friendly. Their treats are always fresh and so soft! Their cake is good also but I mainly come for the Danishes. The people are friendly and helpful. They messed up my nephews cake that my sister had to go purchase another one. My step fathers cake came with hair in it. I have never ordered a custom cake before, and I am so happy with how my gender reveal cake turned out! I brought in a picture of what I wanted, but also wanted to make a few changes. For example, the whole cake was fondant in the picture, but I wanted regular frosting. Koffee Cup was so accommodating. I also needed the cake on a Friday, but wouldn't know what color on the inside until Wednesday afternoon. This was no problem at all, and they were great about keeping the secret from me as well by not writing the color on the slip. I was so happy when I picked this up and my family also loved it. I am very disappointed with this bakery. We ordered a jungle cake for a baby shower this past weekend. Since the baby shower was on Sunday and the baker is closed on sundays, I picked up the cake Saturday evening. When I arrived I pointed out to the two young female workers that there were a lot of flaws in the cake. There were white specs all around the cake and the base pan. They said it was how they make the cake shiny. I also stated that the ribbon around the base has a noticeably large gap. Someone mismeasured the length and made the mold too short. The girls state that they weren't the baker and continued to package up the cake. I stopped them again because the cake looked really bad. I asked them if they usually sell cakes with this low of a quality and they repeated that they weren't the baker while sliding the cake over the counter to me. I left feeling beyond upset. I called the bakery 15 minutes later hoping to speak to a manger but got another employee who was "off the clock" as it was 15 minutes before closing time. They stated there was nothing they could do because the manager is off until Tuesday. The message I left for the worker to give to the manager was the imperfections and that I expect a call upon receiving the note. The manager hasn't reached out. What makes it even worse is that the cake didn't match the picture. We ended up buying a different cake from another vendor. Great way to throw money down the drain. read more

I feel that this is "Bar none" thee best bakery in the area. I have been a baker for most of my life, sometimes commercial. I know my baked goods. I live in Holyoke, MA with several bakeries between the Koffe Cup and my locale. I travel there if I want something as good or better than something I could make, at a fair price, w/out the mess. I'm pretty sure they use butter whereas most bakeries use lard, yes "Crisco" type stuff. Good ingredients and made with love is the key and in my opinion the good folks @ the good folks there hold that key. We gave this a try after reading an article about the boston cream pie cupcake, which is definitely worth stopping in for. They are well balanced and the cake is nice and moist. We also got the apricot pastry square which was so buttery and delicious we wanted more. When we went back in another time they didn't have the pastry squares which was a disappointment. The other fruit pastries have a funny swirl of cinnamon in them which competes a bit with flavors like lemon. We also grabbed a vanilla cupcake which wasn't anything to write home about, so definitely drop in to try the boston cream pie cupcake and the apricot pastry you won't be disappointed! read more

I repeatedly try giving this place chance, after chance, after chance just to disappoint myself. Besides the Boston cream cupcakes, which are reminiscent of a freihofers cupcake, I haven't found anything worth making the trip for. The service is average at best, there seem to be several bakers in the back area, but no one to assist a customer on the other side of the counter. And more importantly, several items I've purchased in recent visits seem not very fresh, some tasting of the refrigeration unit. The best advice would be to save yourself the trip and go right to La Fiorentina for whatever you need. read more

If I could leave NO stars I would. It has been almost 1 full month since my poor customer experience with Koffee Kup Bakery when I purchased a 8in round cake for my mother's 88th birthday. I was offered a yellow/white cake or marble (Chocolate/White). I said I definitely did NOT want marble. I also told the sales clerk I wanted Happy 88th Birthday written on the cake. The cake had Happy 80TH BIRTHDAY AND IT WAS A MARBLE CAKE. When I complained to the owner Doughboy Dino, he actually said we don't make 8in round marble cakes. UNBELIEVEABLE. HE DID NOTHING TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! I AGREE WITH THE OTHER PERSON - STAY AWAY!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! I have not heard back from Doughboy Dino- he is the OWNER for heaven sake. I suppose business is good so he doesn't care about my experience. He must have all the business he can handle because he just blew me off as if I was NOTHING. Listen folks this is not a place you want to do business with. Having been satisfied with the baked goods and service in the past, I decided to order a 10 inch birthday cake for a family member. The sales clerk was friendly and helpful, assuring me that the cake would be ready the following day. As promised, when I picked the cake up it looked fine. I placed the cake on a flat surface in the back of my vehicle, and drove the two miles home. As it was a warm day, I had the air conditioning on in the vehicle. I brought the cake in to the air conditioned house where it sat for approximately two hours. I then placed it back in the vehicle and left for the party 3 miles away. Upon arrival, much to my dismay, the upper layer of the cake had fallen apart. I was embarrassed to serve the cake, but it was all that I had. The following day I went to the bakery and discussed the problem with Dino, who, as I found out later, was the owner. He suggested that it was my fault, that I did not propery protect the cake from the heat, which is simply ludicrous. He then advised me to email him a picture so he could discuss the issue with his uncle (?), and that he would call me the following day. After a week without hearing from him, I returned to the bakery only to learn that he was now on vacation. I believe that one possibility might be that the upper layer of the cake may have been cracked prior to frosting. It would appear as though the majority of the time you will receive the service and product that you've come to expect. However, if the product should fail to satisfy you, don't expect to be greeted by a pleasant, understanding clerk or owner. The fault will be directed squarely at you. read more
